Often if I back up one scene I can figure out where I went wrong.

If I'm not sure where to take the story next, I get out pen and paper and make a list of my character's options and the pros and cons of each. Usually one idea on the list will strike me as being more fun or "right". Sometimes, I combine two options.(less)

Writing:

I had one book published in January 2017, In Truth & Ashes, book three of my Otherselves YA fantasy trilogy.

Creepy story set against a 1920s Hollywood. Beatrice was an interesting and intrepid main character. I especially liked her friendship with Raul, the Mexican gardener's son, and the gentle explanation of privilege.

Lovely to return to the world of the King's Blades. Sir Spender is smart and capable, but also young and in over his head. A rollicking adventure with a magical mystery at its heart that kept me guessing.
