Perfect then. :) You should enjoy it! (as long as you don't mind flawed characters. There are no perfect people in this one!)

message 303: by Angela (new)

Angela B I am currently reading A Dirty Job and am so far really enjoying it :)

Karli (goodreadscomkarli_is_booked) I finished The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie last night and was disappointed. I had really looked forward to it, but it was a pretty average read - I gave it 3 stars...really loved the main character, Flavia - but she really seemed to be the only well-developed character in the novel. The rest of it was pretty rote. Oh well.

On to Life of Pi which has been well-reviewed by people on here whose reading tastes seem to match mine pretty closely, so I'm on to that one next.

message 306: by [deleted user] (new)

That is too bad that the book was not to your liking.

message 307: by Yassemin (last edited Apr 28, 2010 12:41PM) (new)

Yassemin (yas666) Currently reading Angels and Demons which is great so far although some of the science stuff bored me and I watched the film first which didn't help but great anyway.

Probably gonna pick up the The Da Vinci Code afterwards [yes, I'm so behind!:]

message 308: by Dara (new)

No biggie. Can't like them all! I am really enjoying Life of Pi though.

message 310: by [deleted user] (new)

That's great! It is another book I've yet to get my hands on.

message 311: by Ronda (new)

Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) I just finished a book called The Second Coming The Second Coming (Words of the Prophecy) by David H. Burton by David H. Burton

It was fantastic - talk about Fantasy, Paranormal, Mystery, and Romance - it had it all in it. The evil vs. good was wickedly powerful.

Now I am reading Kiss of a Demon King (Immortals After Dark, #7) by Kresley Cole by Kresley Cole - I like this series, its as good as J.R. Wards BDB series.

message 312: by Valerie (new)

Valerie I just finished The Help and decided to read something more light so now I'm reading Forget-Her-Nots.

message 313: by Ronda (new)

Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) Just finished Kiss of a Demon King by Kresley Cole and it was great.

Deep Kiss of Winter

It is NOT a fast read - but amazing how much was packed into it. Enjoy! (even if slowly!)

message 317: by Heather (new)

Heather Adkins (heathermarieadkins) | 5 comments I'm new to the group, just going to jump into discussions. I'm currently reading The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane. I've only read about two chapters, but it's a really great book so far---particularly since I just returned home from vacationing in Salem, Mass.

It is very descriptive but aside from that the book is ace! Wouldn't mind rereading it actually speaking of it.

It is one that you'd likely get a lot more out of upon re-reading.

message 320: by KSMary (new)

KSMary Yeah! I finished The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova last night at 2 am. Great book! This would have been a good book to read on vacation when you have a lot of time. It was very descriptive- sometimes overly so but at the same time, you could clearly picture the monastaries and the cities, etc. If I had one criticism, it would be that after such a big build up, the climax of the book seemed a bit rushed. I guess I wanted to know a little bit more of the characters afterwards.

message 321: by Elizabeth☮ (new)

Elizabeth☮ right after i read this book, a coworker showed me pictures to his trip to romania. very cool!

message 322: by [deleted user] (new)

The Historian is on my TBR shelf.

I finished Wake (Dream Catcher, #1) by Lisa McMann (Loved it) and will be starting Fade (Dream Catcher, #2) by Lisa McMann , meanwhile I am on the wait list for Gone (Dream Catcher, #3) by Lisa McMann .

message 323: by Angela (new)

Angela B I've read the first two Elysa I really liked Fade and I hope to get Gone with my first pay check :)

message 324: by Elizabeth☮ (new)

Elizabeth☮ M.I. McAllister

I am reading the fourth in this very entertaining series. One of the few series I follow!

message 325: by [deleted user] (new)

Fade (Dream Catcher, #2) by Lisa McMann was great! I almost might think it was a bit better then Wake. It had some more meat to it. However, now I'm bummed because I need to wait before I get Gone. Ah... The patience of waiting is trying.

message 326: by [deleted user] (new)

Starting to Read for two different Group Reads.

The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks The Bourne Identity (Jason Bourne, #1) by Robert Ludlum

I agree, I liked the second one even more than the first book. But I didn't like the third as much as either of them, I was a little disapointed.

You're going to love The Last Song, it is such a good book, but I hope that you are ready to cry.

message 331: by [deleted user] (new)

I've only cried with a few books. It has to really good to get me to cry. I have a friend who is starting to hate Sparks. She went on a Sparks spree and she was crying every night I called because someone dies. I'm not much of a crier when it comes to movies as well. But I tell you what... I will jump and do those little screams with a horror. Even when I know what is going to happen. I guess I worry my friends when they take me to a horror film. They are afraid I will not sleep for weeks. Nope, I'm just a jumper. LOL!

message 332: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 150 comments I'm reading The Hunger Games for the third time in two days :)

message 333: by [deleted user] (new)

Really? Is it that good? I have that book coming in the mail. And Catching Fire.

message 334: by Rosalie (new)

Rosalie Sambuco | 25 comments I am currently reading WHISTLING IN THE DARK by Lesley Kagen. It is a nice easy "tweenie" book. I have been so involved with the the Tudors and Stuarts that I just needed a break. This is the perfect book - very light reading, funny, poignant, heart-warming, and true to life. The little girl, Sally O'Malley calls Errol Flynn/ Earl Flynn. This is just one example of the humor. I highly recommend this book.

message 335: by Ronda (new)

Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) I just finished Lifeblood by Werner A. Lind and it was a sweet paranormal romance. ★★★★

I started Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris today.

I just downloaded Into the Dark by Gena Showalter and Lover Mine by J.R. Ward

I plan to read them next

message 339: by Angela (new)

Angela B I can't wait to get to that book! It'll be awhile though don't own it yet

message 340: by Karli (new)

Karli (goodreadscomkarli_is_booked) I started Bel Canto and have a stack on my shelf from the latest library run tonight - no luck yet on Hunger Games - I'm probably going to have to return Catching Fire without reading it...I've been cautioned it doesn't make sense to read the other one first.

Yes, but it still sucked to me. I'm the type of person who adores a good piece of literature. This book didn't seem to cut it. How the world is now converting to a dystopian Government wouldn't hurt.(*Not Really just a Joke*).
Anyway i'm currently reading Night Embrace. Its really good so far even though i'm not a fan of recarnation.

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 150 comments I picked up Fahrenheit 451 a few years ago...didn't like it. But I'll probably give it a try again soon.

Finished The Titan's Curse. It's a kids' book, but it's nice to see something that has plot without senseless romance/vampires. :)

I'm kind of the opposite, I cry pretty easily. But everyone I've talked to that has read this book has cried so I don't think it's just me being a sap :P

Rosalie Sambuco | 25 comments I just finished WHISTLING IN THE DARKWhistling In the Dark Whistling In the Dark by Lesley Kagen It was a great book. Very easy read and very cute; although it was a murder/child molestation case. Sally O'Malley, the main character, is a 12 yr old girl that I am sure I knew when growing up.
