Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) Jennifer and Elyssa, I am loving the Dark Hunter Series. I have the League Series too and I look forward to reading it. I really am impressed with Sherrilyn Kenyons writing.

She hooks you in to the story in such wonderful ways. They need to find guys with hot voices for audio books!

Karli (goodreadscomkarli_is_booked) I am half-way through Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon and think I'm probably going to just put it down. So many people love it, but I just don't. It's too much of a romance novel for me. I just don't care to do another 400 pages of it.

Elizabeth☮ started this Saturday.Beatrice and Virgil

Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) @ Elyssa - LOL
@ Karli - you didn't know it was a Historical Romance? Hang in there Karli, the book does get better. What kind of books do you like to read Karli?

I knew it was historical romance - but the people that who recommended it had several of my other favorite books of all time on their lists, so I gave it a go. And 400+ pages in was enough. It was OK - but I got really tired of Claire having to be rescued. Ugh.

I like a pretty wide swath of books - fiction, classics, some sci-fi, lots of YA...I just couldn't do Outlander. Well...I COULD have. But why be irritated when I can send it back to the library and pick up a whole stack of others? I chose...

Personal Demon Personal Demon (Women of the Otherworld, #8) by Kelley Armstrong

The Lacuna The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver

This Is Where I Leave You This Is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper

Girl in Translation Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok

The Housekeeper and the Professor The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa

message 458: by KSMary (new)

KSMary I finished The Postmistress by Sarah Blake last week and started Midwives by Chris Bohjalian . The Postmistress was kind of a disappointment. I finished the book just wanting more out of the characters and their story lines. She had several parallel story lines going on throughout the book and even though the characters came together at the end, I don't think their stories every really meshed.

I'm reading Dear John. Such a great book!

message 468: by Karli (new)

Karli (goodreadscomkarli_is_booked) I finished Beautiful Creatures and LOVED it. Great book!

I've now started The Map of True Places by Brunonia Barry, and Wicked Prey by John Sandford. (the book links aren't working for me for some reason tonight.)

I LOVE John Sandford's books - they are such fun reads. I bought that one at KMart tonight, so of course I'm diving right in, despite the fact I have a whole stack of library books beside me.

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) | 130 comments Alas. My strokes made it so I cannot comprehend reading. I have to read every sentence about five times before I even begin to have it sink in. It kind of disrupts the reading cycle all together. I hope it goes away soon. I would love to start reading again. It is one of my favorite pasttimes.

message 471: by Jen (new)

Jen (In the Closet With a Bibliophile) (Jen_thebibliophile) | 300 comments Randi, that totally sucks! I really hope it gets better. I know sometimes it takes a little bit for it to get better, but it is still horrible!

message 472: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, Randi. Get better and don't worry about jumping back into books too soon. Have you tried to listen to them instead?

Currently Reading Rebel Angels by Libba Bray & The Host... Still. But I'm still loving it.

Finished Love is Hell, Midnight Sun, and just finished Harry Potter #1. I'm on a good roll for this month.

KSMary Some school districts in the US have banned it for offensive language and themes. My daughter read it this year and I think she liked it.

Ilana (ilanamasad) Elizabeth wrote: how did you like high fidelity? i loved about a boy. "

See, I didn't even know About A Boy was a book until after I'd seen the film. And for some reason, I was sure for years that I didn't like Nick Hornby - it's like I thought I'd read him when I hadn't.
So anyway, yes, I love High Fidelity, and I know that next time I go book shopping I'm going to get a few more of Nick Horby's books.

I don't normally read more than one book at a time--and then I started winning alot of the First Read books and none on my reading list. So I'm "seriously reading"
The Margin
which is a First Reads win, and I'm enjoying it very much; I'm also reading
Real Vampires Have Curves
started out a bit iffy, but now I'm hooked (fanged?)

My son and I are probably going to start reading Charlotte's Web, one of my favorite children's books evah--it's even the copy I got when I was about his age (vintage! LOL)
