I just read... And it was...
Read
and...I'm not sure how I feel. It was definitely action-packed, and I still like the whole premise, but felt like the plot wasn't as thought-out as Maze Runner.

Lili St. Crow's snarky writing is one of the things I love about her books. Even if the story doesn't do it, the snark will.

After I finished this one I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I went out and bought the next. ;) I think I'm a fan, lol.

Samantha, if you have any questions regarding the Strange Angels series Lilith has a good forum where most of those questions were discussed.

I just finished
very good and while not really a "cliff hanger" ending it still leaves stuff unresolved....the next book is due out in 2011 but no indication of when....argh!

Thanks, Amanda!
I just finished
and now I'm kicking myself, because it's quite an ending. I should've waited until closer to April, lol.

yeah, I know.....I'm counting down the days. The fifth and last book doesn't even have a release date yet. The author said she finished writing it, so I am hopeing for late 2011.
I read
and I just couldn't get into it. :( I was trying to read
, but I was having a hard time with it as well, grrrrrrr. I started
hoping a change would help get me out of my reading funk. So far I like it.
Even though I tried stretching this book out as long as possible, alas it had to come to an end! I lovelovelove this series, and am going back and rereading my favorite parts of the previous books right now. This series ranks above Night Huntress for me, and slightly above Black Dagger Brotherhood. To be fair I haven't read any BDB in awhile so maybe I'm just forgetting my love of the series, =X.
Just decided to read this one to get my reading ju-ju back in full swing. Which was a good thing, because it was soooooo good. I'm really liking my intro into historical romance. It's not as cheesey as I thought they would be.
Darcy wrote: "I am interested to see what you think of Naked in Death Carrie."I am about halfway and so far I am really into it.
***SPOILERS***
I am a bit disappointed that Roarke and Eve slept together so soon. I was hoping for a gradual relationship with lots of sexual tension leading finally to sex. Maybe something like Kate and Curran's.
I think that if the author had any idea how popular these books would be she would have dragged it out. She originally had only planned on these books to be a trilogy, but here we are so many years later and approaching book #30 in the series.

Hoyt does write some of the better historical romances in the genre, imo. :D I haven't gotten to that one yet, though.
Glad to hear Hoyt's other books are good. I was meaning to buy The Raven Prince when I realized I had this one from a book giveaway.
Yes, I've heard great things about that one. My bookstore doesn't have book 1 yet so I'm eager to get my hands on it. >_<I've been thinking about checking out To Taste Temptation series while I wait for The Raven Prince.
I've only read the 2nd in that series, but I want to read the 3rd To Beguile a Beast because I'm such a sucker for Beauty & the Beast stories. In fact, another good HR writer is Eloisa James. Have you read any of hers? I've only read her Desperate Duchesses series, but they're also a lot of fun.
Sometimes series can really be hit or miss, but the better ones make up for it.
Darcy wrote: "I think that if the author had any idea how popular these books would be she would have dragged it out. I was just checking overdrive to see about getting the ebooks since it will cost me a fortune to buy all of them, and I saw a In Death book 36! They mostly have the audiobooks which is weird since ebooks are cheaper (I guess they aren't as popular yet). The audio for Naked In Death is really good though. I was listening to it while cooking and doing dishes. Going to bed to read some more of it before I pass out.
I do think that the narrator is good for the In Death books. I find I read the new book, then later request the audio because I love them so much.
I bought 20 of the In Death books at Half Priced books on clearance for $1 a piece!! I am still trying to collect the rest, of course i am missing book #2,3,4 and 5
I wish the ebooks were cheaper, but I have some Kobo cupons so that will help out. How horrible is it that I don't even want to get physical books from the library anymore? I just want them on my Nook, and I love books. What is wrong with me?
Anyway, I finished
(I am editing my ebooks to use these covers as I like them better) and I really, really liked it! I did have a couple issues so I didn't give it 5 stars, but all in all I am excited for this series. So is every book a stand alone, or do some arcs bridge across books? I will read them in order anyway, but I was just curious. 30 something books is a lot to be complete stand alones and not get boring.
For the most part the stories are stand alones. The characters develop more, you see more secondary characters added and it seems like with each book you learn more about them, along with Eve and Roarke's past. Some of the things that happen are heartbreaking, others really funny!
Sounds good! It kind of reminds me of the show Bones in some ways. Hmmmmmm, David Boreanaz doesn't look too much like Roarke (his eyes anyway, the rest could pass), but maybe I should try to envision him as Roarke anyway. Going to start the second book,
.

Oooo, To Beguile a Beast sounds awesome! I love beauty and the beast romances.
I'm pretty much new to the HR genre and I'm kind of testing the water out. Thanks for the recomendation, Eloisa James books sound really good. ^_-
Carrie, I'm with you about the library books. Maybe because my Kindle is new, but I don't get books from the library as much anymore, and I used to go on at least a weekly basis. Makes me a little sad :(
Just finished
It was a really great idea, but too much sex. Some times authors can pull off the over sexed factor, but Bast couldn't for this one. The world was soooooo good that I wanted to see more out of the bedroom.
Wasn't as good as her Dark Magic series, which had more plot time and world building. However, I will be reading the next book in this series.
Heather wrote: "Amanda, what store were you at?"Half Priced Books. It's the first place I go to get any book I want to buy.
Just finished
It was sooooo awesome, I'm really starting to believe that HR is worth a look! Made the mistake of reading the book excerpt in the back, now I'm debating whether or not to make a special trip into town just to buy book 3.
Just read
,

over my vacation.I felt like they were all 3 stars. Hush, Hush was far better than the other two, but i just wanted to learn more about the main character before the author introduced the love interest. I will keep reading that series and the Rachel Morgan series but I am not sure about SB.
I finished
and I liked it as much as the first. I did figure out who the killer was relatively soon, and that is kind of annoying. I love being shocked and thrown for a loop.
I'be been thinking about picking up this series, I'm just a little leery it might turn into a tacky romance.
The closest romance I can compare it to is Cat and Bones. There is not vampires or supernatural beings though. Roarke reminds me a lot of Bones and Eve is very strong and independent like Cat.
Just finished with
- my favourite of the Ice series by Anne Stuart so far... she writes the best dark characters!
- Loved it!
- slow to start but a high paced ending.
- Can't wait to read more from this series!

After book 3, book 4 felt like it was boring. For some reason the demons tend to be scarier than the wolves.

I just finished Magic Bites and it was a great book I gave it 5 stars I enjoyed kates character and how strong she was. I also love THE BEAST LORD. I def did not think that the psycho was who it turned out to be I thought it was someone totally different I kinda dismissed the real one at the start. I will be picking up the next books in the series ASAP.

Heather- i actually really liked the first half of Fist Full of Charms- Even the stuff with Ivy was OK. It was the ending that just dragged on so much.

It was pretty average. The ending bit on the last page was what sealed the deal for me for to continue on.
