If anyone wants to try one of her older less popular novels, we could do a group read. I mostly do audiobooks, so I'd have to see what is available. I work at Borders and saw one of her older books that looked interesting in the audiobooks but I can't remember the title - I'll have to look tomorrow. There is a group read thread click below and post if anyone interested. I know there hasn't been much activity in the group lately and if we had a group read it could help wake people up :-)

I love audiobooks. I have to sit in traffic for 1 hour on the way to work and an hour on the way home. It's not that I live that far from work, it's just the traffic is a bear! Anyway, I have found that audiobooks keep me from getting road rage, if you know what I mean). I have listened to many of her books this way. I will go to your link because I think that would be great.

Thanks, Tracy. I was thinking that since I've read them all anyway and gotten the whole version that way, I might not actually mind the abridged version in audio.

Welcome to the group Lee!!!
Tracy & Kathy,
I don't do abridged audiobooks either, but I've found plenty of Tess's available Unabridged. I don't like to bother with cassette tapes anymore either.

Doin' Fine overall :-) I tried listening to the audiobook of The Gunslinger last Fall when Stephen King Fans Group was reading it but I couldn't get into it. The one I tried was narrated by George Guidall.

Hey Tracy :-) Just realized from a thread in Koontzland that it was the Dustin who is not Crazy who was talking to you about The Gunslinger and Dark Tower Series. I haven't read them - hope you enjoy. The Other Dustin seems "crazy" about those books and I know they are extremely popular.

New member here. I'm a fan of Tess and her books, although I haven't read that many yet. I like to read series in order and have just finished The Surgeon which i enjoyed. I also got to see Tess last summer on her UK book tour here in Newcastle Upon Tyne. It was very interesting listening to what she had to say.

Well, that's good to know, Dustin. I guess my library just doesn't carry them in the unabridged version. I usually check out my audio selections from the library.

Yeah, I know. I was just excited and wanted to share.

Welcome to the group Curlyhair! Do you have curly hair? I can't tell from your profile picture :-)

I really love the R&I series, but my favourite Tess Gerritsen book is The Bone Garden.
And oh, a little bit about me so you have some idea who I am... My name is Jasja, I'm 38 years young, born & raised in Amsterdam, married to my Australian hubby and in the process of making the move to France. Besides reading I also love horses (I have 2 arabians, Escala and Eclipse), travelling, spending time with my family & friends.

Hi
Yes (suprise suprise) I do have curly hair but no profile picture. as I'm not computer savvy. I will get the hubby to put one on one of these days!

Welcome to the group Eclipse and Francis! We're currently reading The Bone Garden as a group read - anyone is welcome to join in reading or re-reading this great Stand-Alone by Tess Gerritsen.

I LOVE the Rizzoli/Isles book series & was so excitef when I discovered the tv series. Unfortunately it doesn't air in Australia but I can watch it online. I think Angie Harmon is perfectly cast as Jane Rizzoli. She just has so much spunk. I'm not sure about the other casting. Maybe its just the writing, but I don't remember Maura Isles being so obsessed about how she looks, or so socially inept. Its like they've written her differently just for the comedy. I'm not sure I like it. What do the rest of you think??

Welcome New Members!!! Thanks for joining & posting!
FYI here is a link to our Rizzoli & Isles on TNT discussion:
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3...
I've only watched one episode but I was really impressed. You're right, the Maura character doesn't match the description in the books but I still thought the show was well-done and Tess is clearly happy with the result. There is a second season planned to air this summer around the same time the new Rizzoli & Isles book is released.

My name is Andrea, age 19 (going 20), from Zagreb (the capital of Croatia).
I'm studying psychology - it's been great so far!
I enjoy reading, don't have my favourite type of books: I like them all: thriller, historical romance, chic lit.
Tess is one of my favourite authors! I loved every second of reading Club Mefisto! I have to read Surgeon; I haven't read it yet!
I also like meeting new people, talking with them, pen-paling... :)

I am a massive crime fiction fan (but pretty much read anything) and have only just discovered Tess Gerritsen and she has fast become one of my favourite ever authors. I read The Surgeon 2 weeks ago and since then I have worked my way through every single book in the Rizzoli & Isles series and I am just about to start #8 today (I have NEVER before read so many books by one author in a row but I just can't put them down!)
I haven't read any of her standalones yet so I am looking forward to reading those with you. I'll get a copy of Gravity for this month.

Welcome to the group Boof!!! That is Awesome! I went through the series last year while awaiting the release of ICE COLD. We have discussion threads set up for many of Tess's books which you're welcome to comment in/on while or after reading. If there isn't a thread set up for a book you're reading, you are welcome to create one. We'll look forward to seeing you in the Gravity discussion soon!

Tracy, you did know that ICE COLD is part of the Rizzoli/Isles series right? :-) You have to know if you read it. I guess it could stand alone - I mean it could be read without having read the other books in the series but it's not technically a "Stand Alone Novel". Just some clarification for what it's worth :-)

Yes I do know that and I don't know why I said it was. I just really liked the book and I promote it every chance I get. I just wasn't thinking because Jane and Maura are in the book. I did hear that Rat was going to be in Silent Girl though. Don't know how true that is but it would be great because I fell in love with the kid.

Ice Cold was very good :-) I still favor The Keepsake though. Tess is the one who let us know Rat will be in The Silent Girl, but we don't know how much we'll see of him. Here is what she wrote on her blog (Feb 6th post):
"It’s a Jane and Maura book and yes, Rat does make an appearance!"

I have CFS/ME so reading is away to slip away from my life into others which is really easy to do with Tess' books. Helen :0)

Welcome to the group Helen!!! Patricia Cornwell is also one of my must read authors and I'm going to read my first Karin Slaughter book very soon, Blindsighted.
What is CFS/ME?

Thank you Dustin!
Oh you'll love Karin Slaughter then she's straight into the mayhem!!!
CFS/ME is also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. In a nut shell (although there is much more to it) I spend a lot of my time feeling ill &/or tired so reading has been a great escape for me.

Hey Everyone,
Our group is growing in number, but my co-moderator has disappeared and hasn't been seen on goodreads for six months. If anyone is interested in being a co-moderator of the Tess Gerritsen Fans please send me a goodreads message. The ideal candidate would be active in the group, generally active on goodreads and of course a fan of Tess Gerristen. Mainly, I'm looking for an event coordinator to create events for our group reads and send an invite to group members so people who may not visit the group often can know when we're reading a book. You can also help in other ways if you want - I would make it easy on you I promise. Right now, I moderate 3 other author groups and I'm currently working 3 jobs - I'm not able to do everything I'd like to with the groups and I'd really appreciate the help if anyone is interested. :-)Think about it. Message me. Thanks

Hi my name is Marla and I am a Tess Gerritsen fan. I have read many of the medical thrillers but it was a long time ago. I read the book before Silent Girl and was again captivated by her writing. Thanks for this group. I just purchased The Silent Girl for my Kobo so will read soon.

Marla, your Goodreads profile is set to not accept messages, so I couldn't send you a private message but I have added you as a moderator. On the group homepage, where it lists the moderators, there is a link to "tools & guidelines" for running the group. I'll try to post it here:
http://www.goodreads.com/group/modera...
basically, I haven't had to delete or block any member or any comments. Mostly, I just need help keeping the group organized and current - feel free to post & update as needed. When you're comfortable, you can help create events & send out an invite, so that group members know when we are reading a book.
so, we'll see how this goes. Thanks for volunteering & if you change your goodreads settings, you can message me with any questions.
