Jas (10jbean01) | 8 comments Hello All! My name is Jasmin, feel free to call me JB (I know the Bongiorno takes forever to spell out!)

My absolute favorite Lisa Kleypas book is "Scandal in Spring" (Actually you could just say I loved all the wallflowers...)
My favorite hero is Derek Craven and favorite heroine is Lily Lawson.

I'd have to say I love Lisa Kleypas books because, even though there is always a happy ending, I never really feel like I'm reading the same book over. Sometimes it seems that after authors have been writing forever (think recent Nora Roberts) their books tend to become very formulaic and lose its charm. That hasn't happened with Kleypas and her books never fail to leave me with a happy heart.

(Side note: even though I do believe Nora Roberts has stopped putting as much effort into her books I still read them...it just makes me sad that her books have lost a bit of flavor in recent years)

Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments Hi JB! Welcome! I agree with you about the formula problem authors run into. LK may be consistent in a few things, but they're not bad things...like great heroes, and melt your bones romance!

We're so glad to have you!

Of course, I totally love Lisa Kleypas's books. She's just one of the best consistently.

message 213: by Susinok (new)

Susinok Hello! I'm Susan from Oklahoma, and I just finshed a Lisa Kleypas bender. I read one book a day, the four Wallflower books and then the first three Hathaway books.

Now I'm trying to figure out which series to read next, Travis or Bow Street.

1. Name - Susan
2. What are your favorite Lisa Kleypas books?

So far they've been Devil in Winter, Mine Til Midnight, and Seduced at Sunrise. I likes me some bad boys. But honestly, I love 'em all.

3. Who's your favorite Lisa Kleypas hero and heroine? Couple? As a couple, I like Cam & Amelia and Win & Kev, probably because I really like the Hathaway's unorthodox family.

4. What do you like about Lisa Kleypas books? Well written, sex scenes without vulgarity or purple prose, and over all they are just fun and enjoyable.

message 214: by Anne OK (new)

Anne OK (anne-ok) | 99 comments Welcome Susinok! I'm Anne OK and I live in Tulsa. It's great to see another Okie here. I share your opinion of Lisa Kleypas's books. I love the BOW STREET RUNNERS and Nick is my favorite hero from all the historicals. Jack is my favorite from the Travis contemporary series.

Susinok Thanks guys. I sent the samples from Sugar Daddy and Someone To Watch Over Me to my Kindle. I'm going to decide today which series to start next. I wanted to move on to some SF but I can't resist more Kleypas!

Robin | 361 comments Just wanted to say hi and welcome to Jasmin and Susan. I'm usually not much of a poster but find I enjoy contributing to this group on various threads. I still have some learning to do like how do you place a link in a post and better yet how do you put a book cover in one? I won't be surprised if there's a thread for how to. Anyway glad you're here and that includes all of you.

Robin, click on the link above the comment box, that says, "add book/author". It will prompt you to enter the author's name, book name, or even the series. It will pull up a list of books that match. Click on add book. If you want a cover, make sure the cover button is selected. Hope that helps!

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments Hi!
1. I'm Melanie, call me Mel
2. Fave book: yikes, um I adored Where dreams begin, Dreaming of you, Worth any price, Somewhere I'll find you, and LOVED Blue-Eyed Devil.
3. Fave hero: Zach Bronson, Derek Craven, Hardy, Logan Scott, McKenna,St. Vincent, Simon Hunt,.... I actually loved all of them!
4. Fave couple: Hardy/Haven; Zach/Holly; Derek/Sara; Logan/Madeleine, St. Vincent/Evie.... Oh, and Celia/Justin
5. I love LK because of her writing: it's subtle, sexy and simply fabulous! the love scenes are tasteful and sensual and the heroes are as mouth-watering as the heroines are plucky and determined!

I was reading Harlequin in French (bleh: translations do not the real thing make!!!) for two years before I got hooked on LK in the US one summer, and now I have shelves upon shelves filled with english HR, all thanks to LK: I have half a shelf dedicated to her books, and I'm going crazy trying to find her Berkely/Faulkner books from two decades ago!!!! Any hints? Thank you!!!!
Great to see so many LK lovers!

Katie Hello, Im Katelyn but you can call me Katie. I love Lisa Kleypas! I have read her Wallflowers series, except for the final one, and some of her novels outside of the series. Acutally I'm looking for some of her stuff to read for free online if that's possible. Anyone know of any site?

message 228: by Bekah, Fellow Kleypasaholic (new)

Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments Hi Katie!! Welcome! I've never heard of anything free online before. Other than there is a short story she wrote for the Hathaways I believe.

Someone help me out...

Theresa (tsorrels) 1. Theresa (from Arizona)
2. Smooth Talking Stranger and Sugar Daddy*
3. Favorite Hero: Gage Travis; Favorite Couple: Jack Travis & Ella Varner*
4. Her swoonworthy heroes, realistic "issues" that come between the couples, and the tasteful, but HOT bedroom scenes.

* = I'm fairly new to the Lisa Kleypas love since I read my first book by her (Dreaming of You) last year. The book didn't wow me (I know this is shocking since a lot of people rate it as one of the best), but I decided to give the author a second chance before moving on. I borrowed Sugar Daddy from my library and read it in about 24 hours. LOVED IT! Instantly a new member of the Lisa Kleypas fan club.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Well I'm glad you didn't give up on LK, Theresa. The interesting thing about her is that different books hit us different ways. But it seems as though our reasons for loving her as an author are pretty consistent, no?

A couple of months ago, someone wrote a scathing, but unintentionally humorous comment on my review of Dreaming of You. The individual couldn't spell, didn't use capitals or punctuation, and really didn't make much sense. The comment went something like this:

"u dont now anything about good books this is the best book EVA written! u shouldnt write reviews if u r so dumb"

At first, I thought it was a joke - you know, because of the text talk and all that? I was VERY tempted to write something back about intelligence and their obvious lack, but decided to be an adult and just deleted their comment. In hindsight, I wish I had left it on there for days when I need a good laugh.

Edited to add: I gave the book 3-stars and explained why I didn't love the book. Obviously that individual doesn't believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I'm glad you didn't give up either. You actually sound like my kind of LK lover. Dreaming of You is not one of my favorites either, however, I'm madly, MADLY in love with Gage. I love that man like a fat kid loves cake. Her historicals are good as well, so don't be afraid to jump into those again.

Try Suddenly You. One of my favs.

So glad to have you!

Now if you said LK was a dumb ho who couldn't write, and anyone who liked her was abysmally stupid, then we'd have to fight. But I know you'd never do that. LOL.

LOL. That made me laugh. :) I don't think I've ever said that about an author... I might pick apart why the book was terrible (in my opinion), but not the author.

I actually prefer Hardy to Gage, lol, so I guess he's all mine! ;-p

Hey Danielle! I've joined your group, but I gotta say, although I'm sure I've read about 100 HP(my piano teacher used to lend me her old copies), in french they only had the historicals that I could find: but I'm sure your group will set me on the hunt for more books (like I need any more!!!!!) ;-p I remember enjoying them quite a bit, and they were easy to read in an hour or so before going to bed:-)

Tracy74 Hi- I'm new to this thread, not goodreads. I am currently reading The Black Dagger Brotherhood series and "of course" I'm loving it.
Anyway - I've been going thru some of these threads and am very interested in reading some of Lisa Kleyplas's books, BUT I'm not sure which one to start with.
Any Suggesstions would be GREAT. I love romance and hot sex :)

Welcome!!! Are you into historicals? Some of my favorite historicals of hers are Suddenly You and Then Came You.

I also like her contemporary series Sugar Daddy
Blue-Eyed Devil
Smooth Talking Stranger

There are some pretty hot and steamy sex scenes in those three books.

Hi, Tracy. I think you will love LK's books. She does romance so well. And she definitely has a high steam factor. I don't read erotic romance overall, but I appreciate a very good sensual romance. And LK is on the top of my list.

I kinda like em all. The book just has to have romance, and some steamy luvin and a HEA :)

Whats with the covers of her books??? Thankfully I don't judge a book by its cover.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Tracy, do you mean the scenery on the wallflowers, or the covers with the ladies in dresses? That's a standard sort of historical romance cover. I don't think she gets to make any choices about those.

I recall reading that authors don't get to choose their cover picture but they do have some say if its totally off base. I read on one author's site (sorry, don't recall which one) that when she got the cover proof the hero's hair was not the color that was very definitely stated in her description of him and she was able to get it changed.
