Meran You've heard the news that X-Files is coming back for a mini-series of 6 episodes, right? Fox AND Mulder , shooting this summer in
Vancouver, Canada, not sure yet when it'll air.

FOX. I think there have only been 2 episodes aired so far :-) I've watched the first one. They should be free to watch on FOX Website. I'll find and post the link.

Hell Yeah! Watched it.
(view spoiler)

I think they are doing a great job with Season 10. I am really enjoying this. I think the creators really listened to what fans wanted to know - all the unanswered questions. For Example (view spoiler)

And another thing is the Cigarette Smoking Man (view spoiler)

This is just really fun and I'm also looking forward to a return to TWIN PEAKS. Now, if they would just bring back FRINGE and Make another Movie Release of all 3, I'll be happy :-)

message 816: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 486 comments I am enjoying the X Files too....I have not heard anymore about Twin Peaks returning. I hope that wasn't scrapped !!!

message 817: by Jim (last edited Feb 08, 2016 03:24PM) (new)

Jim C (avsfaninboston) | 161 comments I just realized there was a discussion about the X-Files revival. I am enjoying it also. The third episode was terrific and so funny. The third episode made this whole revival worth it.

I read somewhere that if the ratings were good that David, Gillian, and Chris Carter would be open to do more episodes. They would do a shortened season like this revival. And I know the ratings are excellent so we might even get more X-Files. How great would that be?

message 818: by Ken (new)

Ken Consaul I've been watching X-files but the episode with the lizard/man was pretty lame. They can do better than that.

Jim C (avsfaninboston) | 161 comments Ken wrote: "I've been watching X-files but the episode with the lizard/man was pretty lame. They can do better than that."

There seems to be no middle ground with that episode. Either you absolutely loved it (like me) or hated it. I thought it was so funny. I have always liked the comedic episodes of this show.

message 820: by Karen B. (new)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments I found it very humorous; especially considering the otherwise serious nature of the show. It was a nice contrast. I hope they are going to bring the cigarette man back.

The X-Files has always included at least one humorous episode in each season. This is a great tradition. This episode also paid tribute to X-File family members including Kim Manners at the cemetery. I enjoyed it.

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments Okay, I admit I wasn't a devoted fan for the original series. But this time I am really hooked. Also one of the cable stations played the movie and because I had it set to record X-Files it played that movie and I loved it. I wish now I had been a fan of the earlier show. I had seen a few episodes but they didn't hook me the way this series is. I really hope they do continue with it. Sometimes I will be asking you guys and gals questions that refer to things established in the original series, so bear with me please.

You can always start from the beginning :-) I own the entire boxed set and both movies. I plan to start re-watching The X-Files in entirety one of these days, but it's quite the commitment. Right now I am re-watching FRINGE. Other shows that I plan to re-watch include FIREFLY, TWIN PEAKS and SIX FEET UNDER :-)

Thanks Dustin, I have been thinking of that but have been considering the investment of time and money right now. Money, especially, that I would rather spend on something to read than something to watch.

I did a whole re-watch of the X-Files when I heard they were doing the mini series and you are not kidding it was a commitment. There were times I actually asked myself if there was something wrong with me.

Thanks Dustin for some ideas for a new series for me to watch. I have been looking for a series to watch. I never watched FRINGE and I tried FIREFLY when it aired but I think I was looking for another BUFFY and I did not enjoy it. I was going to do SPENSER FOR HIRE but the dvds are a little pricey right now.

I watched Under the Dome all the way to the season 1 finale. After that underwhelming finale I stopped watching. Warehouse 13 was a great show. I watched that while it aired. I tried the Librarians and it was too cheesy for me. Too bad because I liked the cast. I liked John Larroquette from his days of Night Court. and the actor who played Lindsey from Angel. I watched several episodes and gave up.

message 828: by Karen B. (new)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments I loved Warehouse 13. I too tried to get into the Librarians but really couldn't. Another show I really liked for the first couple of seasons was Haven. Didn't care for the last two seasons as much.

If you like Warehouse 13 you should try Eureka. If I remember correctly they even did a crossover event with Warehouse 13.

I started watching Warehouse 13 at one time, but didn't continue. I may need to try it again. Also Eureka and Librarians I'll have to check out.

I felt the same way about Under The Dome, enjoyed the first season and then with the second season, I was saying "What the Hell?"

I just finished watching Season One of Penny Dreadful. Found it at the library and I would recommend it. I would also recommend Orphan Black.

Penny Dreadful isn't King Influenced, but is literary influenced with references to Frankenstein, Dorian Gray, Dracula. Set in the 1800's this series is superbly acted and staged. Actors include: Reeve Carney, Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Rory Kinnear, Billie Piper (Rose from Doctor Who), Danny Sapani, Harry Treadaway, Josh Hartnett.

I'm looking forward to watching more Penny Dreadful. It is Bloody Good! :-)

Ken Consaul How about True Detective on HBO? The first season was very good. Second season not so much. In fact, the speculation is season three will reprise Harrelson and McConaughey returning to figure out WTF happened to season two.

It's a bit Dark for my taste. Yikes! This one and The Purge just fill me with darkness. This past weekend I watched Dead Pool and Eddie the Eagle - those are more my pace :-)

I would like to watch Stranger Things but I am too old school for Netflix at this time.

message 848: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 486 comments Stranger Things is amazing good....but it's an homage to Stephen King.....2nd Season starts late October so def finish Season 1.

message 849: by Matthew (new)

Matthew | 183 comments Stranger Things is mostly an homage to King BUT I do believe there's some Koontz love there too. The local diner in the show is called The Hideaway and a scene transition featured the neon sign "HIDEAWAY" in such a way it took up the whole TV screen. I may be reading WAY too much into that, but I think that was a wink, wink at Koontz's book title.

message 850: by Jim (new)

Jim C (avsfaninboston) | 161 comments I definitely see the homage to King but I do feel a little Koontz. Like I said I am only on the second episode so I don't have a clue what is going on. But I am assuming the girl and the monster come from the same lab and have a connection. I cannot help but think of "Watchers" and the connection between Einstein (I know it is a dog instead of a girl) and the beast escaping from the lab.
