Christine Not exactly. Walter stole those things from children's dreams and replaced them with nightmares according to Peter.

Oh, okay I got mixed up. Was it Rainbows or Rain Boats? That's why I questioned "Water Boats" - I didn't get it. Rainbows would make more sense :-)

Okay, he "invented" them. ;-)

Walter said he invented them Peter said he stole them. I hope they can both have a heart and share it :-)

message 55: by Christine (new)

Christine Peter will be back but whether or not he forgives Walter, we will see.

I've always thought the cow in the lab was a nice touch and the cow with multi-colored polk-a-dots was extra special :-)

I wonder if Dean will start putting Fringe references into his novels, like he did with The X-Files - maybe when there's a larger following. Maybe not.

Fringe probably has too much science and not enough religion for Dean.

message 59: by Christine (new)

Christine Does he watch Fringe?

There's no Scully to balance out Mulder.

message 61: by Christine (new)

Christine I think there's more of a Scully than a Mulder in Fringe

I don't know. Haven't heard. I do know he likes 24 and he was a fan of The X-Files. Lots of X-files references in his books that were published while the show was on the air like Tick Tock and False Memory

I don't think Dean is so much into science - umm especially after reading Breathless :-)

Christine wrote: "I think there's more of a Scully than a Mulder in Fringe"

I mean the religious aspect of Scully's character. Is there anyone on Fringe that wears a cross necklace like Scully?

message 65: by Christine (new)

Christine I have not noticed any kind of religious references in the show (Fringe).

message 66: by Jaice (new)

Jaice Cooperrider (plasborgma) | 1299 comments Christine wrote: "I have not noticed any kind of religious references in the show (Fringe)."

Walter talks about God occasionally, so there is theism, if not religion.

message 67: by Christine (new)

Christine Its a show mostly based in science which leaves little room for God

Still, with things like parallel universes and nano computers - the stuff that Dean Koontz's books are made of - I'll keep hoping to see some references to Fringe in future books by Dean Koontz :-) This show should be right up his alley.

There's always room for God in science, it's the people that leave Him out. But I gather you mean that this show is not like 'Touched By An Angel'.

I don't have a TV and never think to be at my kids' house when Fringe might be on...I will have to see when it is playing here in SoCal. It sounds like I might like it.

*****Spoiler Alert******

Dustin. did you watch last week's episode of Fringe? Olivia gave her niece a cross that had been her mother's! It's weird that we had talked about this not too long ago and then the cross appears.

message 74: by Jaice (last edited May 17, 2010 10:29PM) (new)

Jaice Cooperrider (plasborgma) | 1299 comments Christine wrote: "...Olivia gave her niece a cross that had been her mother's! It's weird that we had talked about this not too long ago and then the cross appears."

At first, that annoyed me, especially after Walter's admission of his belief in God in that time traveler episode, but then I remembered Olivia's admission to Peter in a previous episode that she is an atheist, so the crucifix necklace seems to be of emotional significance to her (because her mom gave it to her), rather than of religious significance.

message 75: by Christine (new)

Christine I think you are right about it being of emotional significance. I don't remember ever seeing the cross before. Olivia told Ella that her mother had told her that the cross would protect her.

Do you remember what happened to Olivia's parents?

message 76: by Jaice (new)

Jaice Cooperrider (plasborgma) | 1299 comments Christine wrote: "...Do you remember what happened to Olivia's parents?"

No, I don't think that was ever revealed. Something must have happened to them when she was very young for Walter to have gotten hold of her to do his experiments.

message 77: by Christine (new)

Christine I'll ask my son. He's a huge fan of Fringe.

message 78: by Christine (new)

Christine My son didn't have anything to add that we haven't already talked about. Maybe next season! I am looking forward to the season finale of Fringe. I can see where Dean Koontz fans would also be Fringe fans. Just the right amount of weird!

You can't watch all of season 2 in the week between it is released and season 3 begins? ;-) (I'm only half joking, as I tend to watch entire seasons of shows on DVD in a matter of days, a week at the most.)

I can watch a whole season in about 2 weeks :-) Last night I was watching Fringe season one and got to episode 16: Unleashed. It reminded me of Dean Koontz's Watchers. Here's the summary:
"In a research lab, animal rights activists free chimps, dogs...and a vicious, bio-engineered freak-beast that attacks Charlie."

message 91: by Christine (new)

Christine That was a really freaky episode. I thought it was kind of a dig at animal rights groups.....be careful of the devil you don't know versus the one you do know!

Just watched the season one finale of Fringe today. How interesting about that alternate reality where the World Trade Centers still stood. How did you like who they have play the role of William Bell? I'm not a Star Trek fan but I bet that was a fun surprise to viewers who are :-)

I absolutely love this series and the characters. I hope they can keep it together better than The X-Files where the conspiracy kept changing.

Yes, they made the activists look stupid.

message 94: by Christine (new)

Christine Have you seen Eureka on the SyFy Channel? Its kind of a funny version of the Fringe/X-File Shows.

I did like who plays William Bell, a very unexpected twist. I also love the character of Walter.

I really don't watch much TV :-) Walter is great too. Can't wait for Season 2 to become available. Any other shows on DVD that I should give a try?

message 96: by Christine (new)

Christine Try Supernatural. It just finished season 5. I watched it all on DVDs I got at the library with the exception of the last season. It has a lot of stuff that has to to do with the supernatural, duh, but it includes urban legends and folklore about things that go bump in the night. It also has a lot of humor which I appreciate. Since you like Dean Koontz, I think you will really like Supernatural

I agree that most Koontz fans would enjoy Supernatural. It reminds me of Koontz's work in several ways, not just the humor. I agree with this recommendation. It is also likely that you would enjoy Eureka and possible Warehouse 13, which is even more like a humorous & light-hearted X-Files, but they are not as sure a bet as Spuernatural.

As you know, I am a Star Trek fan (to say the least), and I would have been pleasantly surprised to see Leonard Nimoy playing the part of William Bell, except that I found out about it several months before that episode aired. I know, I know: what a nerd. :-/

I can definitely watch all of season 2 in a week, maybe less. I just hope it comes out before the third season starts. I've watched sveral seasons of CSI, Supernatural, and Buffy one right after the other, in order to get caught up. The benefits of having no life...or job.
