Shelly | 7 comments Hi, my name is Shelly and I found this site through Facebook. I have always enjoyed reading but lately I can't seem to find anyhting to hold my interest. I am currently reading The Year of Pleasures, by Elizabeth Berg.
I am hoping to meet other friendly book lovers here, which it seems from reading the posts here, I will.
This seems like a nice group to join.
Thanks!!

The Year of Pleasures

Welcome Shelly! This is a great group, and I hope you enjoy it. Looking forward to getting to know you.

message 307: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie Hi Shelly, with GR you will have no problem finding good books to read. Instead we all talk about the problem of having too many books we want to read! We talk of our Mt. TBR - our mountain of books "to-be-read". We are all book adicts! Nice to hae you here.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Welcome to the group, Shelly. We're glad you found us.

I'm curious: How did you find us via facebook?

Have fun perusing the discussion threads, and jump in when you want. Also, check out our polls and vote if you'd like; they're just for fun. ETA: And feel free to check out our bookshelves.

But, I'm getting caught up now, so I thought it safe to go ahead and join another group :) Looks like this will be a fun one! Thanks for making such a neat group available :)

I'm caught up with groups but so backlogged reading reviews! And, really behind in reading books.

Ann, I see you found the polls too - great! Yes, we can keep you busy in here too. ;-) But, it's fine to participate at whatever level you have time/interest for.

Sheila (sheilaj) Hi Everyone. My name is Sheila and I live in Illinois on the Mississippi River. I am 58, married, mom of 2 , grandma of 2. I very recently retired after 37 years as a respiratory therapist. I am very fortunate that I live only about 2 blocks from our new million $$ library. I have a difficult time reading regular or paperback print so usually order everything either in LP or audio. Our library is in a network with a whole bunch of other libraries so I can usually get what I need delivered to my local libary. I LOVE my library.

I am currently reading 5 books. (My hubby says I am the Queen of Multitasking. I just discovered goodreads this week and have been busy putting in my book list. (I am only up to the C's). Anyway I look forward to meeting you folks and sharing as well.

message 325: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Welcome, Sheila. I'm really glad you decided to join this group. I hope you enjoy it and we're looking forward to getting to know you. When you have time take a look around at the discussion threads, the polls, and the bookshelves.

When you post your favorite comfort reads, feel free to say if it was an audio book. We have an audio-books shelf so those books can be added to that shelf, in addition to any other shelves that fit them.

message 335: by Fran (new)

Fran | 21 comments Hi, my comfort read is Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury. I read it last year for the 1st time and fell in love with the Story. I was hooked after reading the 1st paragraph. "It was a quiet morning, the town covered over with darkness and at ease in bed. Summer gathered in the weather, the wind had the proper touch, the breathing of the world was long and warm and slow. Your had only to rise, lean from your window, and know that this indeed was the firs real time of freedom and living, this was the first morning of summer."

Oh my goodness, if only it were summer now Fran! I have a copy of Dandelion Wine here on a bookshelf asking to be read along with dozens of brothers and sisters. Welcome to the group!

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Welcome, Fran. I'll have to check out that book!

ETA: Of course. It's already on my to-read shelf, but it wasn't yet on my speculative-fiction shelf. I think it made it to my to-read shelf, and fiction and novels shelf before I created a speculative-fiction shelf. Guess I might bump it up. Thanks, Fran.

message 338: by Diane (new)

Diane (dianedj) Hello to Shelly, Barbara, Sheila, Ann and Fran.
Shelly, your days of not finding books to hold your interest are over! I have read so many wonderful books that I otherwise would not have if it weren't for goodreads. Great site and this is a great group.

message 347: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey (_lindsey_) | 25 comments Hi everyone!
My name is Lindsey. I'm in my mid-twenties, and I work as a web developer.
Lisa so kindly invited me to join this group when it first started, and I haven't said anything yet!
I've been reading some of the daily digests from this group in my email for a while now, so I figured I should say pop in and say hi. You all seem like such a wonderful group, and I've really been enjoying getting some new book ideas.
I like to read pretty much anything, fiction or nonfiction. I seem to really lean toward fantasy in recent years.
Anyhow, I don't know how much time I'll have to fully participate here at the moment, but I thought it was only fair for me to actually say something since I've been lurking for so long :)

message 348: by Fran (new)

Fran | 21 comments Hi Lisa, I am new also and I agree this is a really nice group to be in. I have already picked up on a few books I will have to put into my to read list.

Happy reading
