bjneary | 236 comments Geneva, did you read her other book? Street Pharm was awesome too!

message 252: by Susan (new)

Susan | 39 comments I recently finished M+O 4EVR by Tonya Hegamin. A beautifully written work that quietly passed under the radar.

The story is about young love, loss and acceptance. The writer is also a poet and it shows in her style. She deftly addresses difficult issues without ever be melodramatic or dogmatic.

message 253: by Geneva (new)

Geneva (libreader) | 3 comments bj - Yes, I read Street Pharm last year. Totally agree - she is a great writer!

message 254: by bjneary (new)

bjneary | 236 comments HI Geneva, Coe Booth's books are enjoyed by my students and the girls like Dana Davidson's romances.

message 255: by Cathy (new)

Cathy (cathykyle) | 1 comments I LOVED If I Stay by Gayle Forman. I read it all in one sitting and I cried almost the whole time. The characters were all likable. The plot was interesting. Every bit of it was wonderful.

I loved it too! read it in one afternoon this summer, and many times since. There is going to be a movie of it soon too.

message 257: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) I would have to say An Abundance of Katherines by John Green or How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff.

I have become obsessed with John Green and all three of his novels! He is funny, straight forward, simple yet complicated... I am just a huge fan.

How I Live Now is one of the most beautifully written novels I have ever read.

message 258: by Julianne (new)

Julianne (jrvastbinder) Well, the only books I've read this month are The Host by Stephenie Meyer and Labor Day: A Novel by Joyce Maynard. I'd say I like The Host the best though, probably because the main character is a strong female and not a teenage boy going through puberty. LOL

message 259: by [deleted user] (new)

My favorite book I've read in the last month is going too far by Jennifer Echols.

<3 them all."

Shabanu and its sequel are exquisite and take place in a culture most of our students don't know or understand. It is a great book to have in a classroom library.

Robyn Hawk (aflyonthewall) | 15 comments I just finished The Iron King by Debut Author Julie Kagawa...WOW - this is going to be HUGE and I think the boys will like it as much as the girls...

If you have a chance, listen to audio version of If I Stay. It is beautifully done with cello music in the background.

message 266: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Jackie,

You have sold me!! I love audio books and I've played the cello for 16 years now. I will have to find it.

Dana Keegan (dbodane) | 2 comments I am just about finished with "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. It is fantastic! Probably okay for high school, but maybe a little much for middle school. This book is really good, I can't wait to get to the end, but I don't want to get there. yeah.

Jackie Lawrence (goodreadscomjylawrence) | 14 comments I just finished The Miles Between by Mary Pearson (who also wrote The Adoration of Jenna Fox) and loved it. I could not put it down. If you are a peaker (meaningly that you look at the end of the book before you read), don't do it. The ending is worth the wait.

Crystal (OMalley) | 18 comments I am just finishing "Speak." It is fairly interesting, but has it's down moment's. Some of the story I can relate too. But I just feel bad for her, because all she did was the right thing.

message 274: by Kandrea Cheney (new)

Kandrea Cheney (thebookhunter13) | 2 comments I have read 6 books so far this month, I think, and my absolute favorite was "The Adoration of Jenna Fox." I have been raving about this book to all my students. It's wonderful and brillant. There is so much meaning behind the words in this novel and I have added some of those to my favorite quotes. READ IT!!!

message 275: by Jen (new)

Jen | 36 comments Just finished Need - loved it! Can't wait to start reading Captivate, the sequel. And Cheney - I'm about 30 pages from finishing The Adoration of Jenna Fox and I can't wait to see how it ends - it's so different from anything I've read - and excellent!

message 284: by Pam (new)

Pam Williams | 47 comments I just finished Splendor (the 4th book in the Luxe series.) I love this series. I describe it as a cross between Edith Wharton and Gossip Girl.

message 285: by Paige (new)

Paige | 1 comments If you like Jodi Picoult, her newest -- House Rules -- is pretty good. It's about Aspergers, and was very interesting. Though I'm not a huge fan of the court scenes, it's still a good read. House Rules by Jodi Picoult

message 286: by Julia (new)

Julia (JuliaJanku) | 2 comments The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown.I love all of his books, they are magnific!I felt bad when Robert "died",but I was still hoping for the contrary, and I`m glad it happened otherwise.Brown has stated to write 12 novels with this main character, and I`m really happy to hear this.

message 290: by Jen (new)

Jen | 36 comments Rachel I definitely loved Heist Society too! I loved Ally Carter and the Gallagher Girl series, but this new one was so different and I couldn't put it down!

message 291: by Aja (new)

Aja (wonderingwest) I just finished reading Birthmarked by Cara O'Brien Birthmarked and loved it. It had a sort of The Giver (book) meets The Village (movie). I have a weakness for books that are set in the future but have an ancient past feel (RE: Hunger Games and Forrest of Teeth and Hands). I have high hopes that this is at least a trilogy.

message 292: by Liz (new)
