Two great minds must be working together! I have also thought that would make a great storyline. Officially, however the whole NYPD would be working on the case, you know when an officer is shot down in the line of duty.

Typically, the police would want him to bow out of helping this time because of the familial ties. I guess that would be the conflict. What an interesting book we could write.

And we know Roarke would totally do what the police said and not move himself and his unregistered equipment into Eve's hospital room, CompuGuard be damned... ;) (Assuming Eve couldn't be moved home into the special hospital suite Roarke would have set up in under 8 hours....)

can anyone tell me how tall Feeney is? Naked in Death says he is a short stubby man with short stubby fingers and ginger hair, but I swear in another book it tell how tall he is.

I just finished Innocent in Death and I have a problem with a (view spoiler)[ 10 year old girl having the sophistication to commit that many murders in those ways. I know it is possible for a child to lack the empathy and be able to kill, but even teenagers are very straight-forward. Does anyone else feel that way? Imagine what the parents are thinking for raising such a child and also, I think back to her best friend's mother who asked if her daughter was safe associating with the family. About Innocent: (view spoiler)[As a person who was very very much a straight A student... It's the motivation that doesn't fly for me. I can't imagine a 10-year-old CARING enough about school at that age. That's what? 5th grade? Grades don't even MATTER at that age! If school in 2060 is anything like now, they don't rank students in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

But other than that? I hate to say it, but with the way the world is going these days? I guess I don't find it to be much of a stretch. Maybe that's cynical. But in my understanding, a sociopath is a person who doesn't feel emotions right, basically. And I figure there are KIDS like that... I mean, the adult sociopaths out there were kids once, right? If they have good parents, I figure most people act in socially acceptable ways because they are expected to (and kids are more susceptible to peer pressure, I suppose), but if the kid believes she is entitled to whatever she wants?

So, no, her murdering the teachers doesn't surprise me, nor does it really disturb me. It's her killing her baby brother at SEVEN that scares me.... On Christmas morning, no less! EEEEKKK! (hide spoiler)]

More on Innocent..hahaha (view spoiler)[ YES! Killing her baby brother to get ALL of the toys! What does a 7-year old want with a 2-year old's toys? REALLY? There is quite a gap in age appropriate toys there. And then to NOT let the parents have photos of the baby brother in their home. Made me sick that they allowed her to control them in that way. I LOVED how Eve played out the last scene. Walked into the waiting room and said she wasn't wired, and Raylene played right into her hands. It all came out. I can't remember, was her Father in the control room watching it all...I was going to go back and re-listen because I don't know that it was mentioned to be sure. I think he'd have HAD to be, because he was ever-so-upset when they arrested her....disgraced is how I'd describe it. (hide spoiler)]

According to the book 60 is todays 40. For me in 2059 I will be 108. Which I don't want to be.

I'm going through that right now, big time! My head says I'm 20, but my body is having a hilarious time making me feel about 80. So is the In Death series have any romance in it. I get that it is a mystery type novel but I was just wondering about the romance aspect. Is is surrounding one main lady and she has multiple partners or it is about central relationship. Trying to decide if they might be worth a try. Also what is the steam factor?

There is a LOT of Romance. The main character Eve Dallas meets Roarke in Naked in Death, they fall in love and get married by book 3 Immortal in Death. They are passionately in love with each other, but they are also a riot to read about because of there differences. There are also secondary characters that have relationships that are also fun to read about. I think of all the series books I have ever read this is my favorite because of the relationships.

I echo what Dee stated. While this series will always be first and foremost a mystery series (some classify it as romantic suspense but I think that's a bit off), the relationships involving the continuing characters is what makes it a standout in the genre. The romance/relationship between Roarke and Eve is extraordinary and those between some of the other secondary characters are special in their own right.

There is just the right amount of balance. Those that have no interest in romance don't seem to be bugged by and those, like me who like romance, feel there's a sufficient amount to satisfy that aspect of a story.

I actually hate most mystery novels. I swear, if I see another mystery novel with a dessert title, I'm going to kick someone... Anyway, I started reading the books knowing J.D. Robb is actually Nora Roberts, romance novelist extraordinaire (even though I'd never read any of her books), so I was EXPECTING romance, and BOY HOWDY, did I get it! ;) Eve and Roarke are AWESOME together! Every book has at least one great "steamy" scene in it (2+ in most books)! Marriage has not cooled things off at ALL.

I love that they are in a committed relationship! They get married at the end of book 3 (sorry for the spoiler), and there are now 35 main story line books. So instead of the main character spending 19 books stringing 2 grown men along *coughStephaniePlumcough*, we get to see how Eve and Roarke's relationship grows and how their commitment to each other deepens. Eve had a really rough childhood, so it takes her quite a few books to adjust to being with Roarke. She spends quite some times trying to figure out how to "do" family and marriage, you know? And Roarke's past wasn't exactly rainbows and sunshine either! But they learn to love and trust each other more and more until they are really united and a HUGE force to be reckoned with! Of course, it's not ALL smooth sailing! They get pissed off at each other sometimes and argue, but they have great makeup sex! :) But seriously, I love that they have a fairly realistic relationship with ups and downs, and instead of calling it quits when things get tough, we get to see how they work things out and become closer than they were before! The secondary characters have great romances, too, but I've never read a book with a better couple than Eve and Roarke! And I've read a LOT of romance novels!

Oh, and they solve murders, too. There are a variety of people killing other people in a variety of ways for a variety of reasons. Some of the mysteries are really interesting, some are super creepy and disturbing, and some I honestly couldn't care less about. But even in the creepy and who-cares books, I find myself riveted to the page, because of the main and secondary characters. I find that I'm not really reading the series for the mystery part; I don't even really bother trying to figure out whodunit! I'm just interested to see how the characters interact (a lot of the time to find the murderer) and how they progress in each book. J.D./Nora has spent her 35 books building interesting, endearing, and intrinsically GOOD 3-dimensional characters that you can't help but love! I can never wait to hear Peabody's next cooky-relative story! ;)

I thought the first book was awesome (mostly for the Eve/Roarke parts), but the murder part is a bit... ummm... well, it's one of the disturbing ones (the ones with sex crimes are the ones that freak me out!). I'd say that if you're not hooked by the end of book 3, the series might not be your style.

Thanks! Jocelyn was born on Oct 24th and is doing awesome! She was 8 lb 5 oz, 20 inches, with a good amount of dark hair! (Not as much as big sister, though, whose hair was long enough at birth to put in a decent faux-hawk!) She's 7 1/2 weeks old now, and is already like 11 lbs! Apparently I make the good stuff! ;) The best part is that she has BLUE EYES that look like they'll stay that way! I have my mother and my father-in-law to thank for those recessive genes! Woo! She's doing really well and already sleeps for 4-6 hours stretches during the night! I think so far the biggest challenge is just that there are two kids now instead of just one to focus on... And trying to tell a 28-month-old to hold on for 10 minutes while mommy feeds the baby just doesn't work too well! Distract, distract, distract! :)
