Jana - I'm pretty sure this is from a Nora Roberts book - High Noon. I remember reading it, but haven't had time to look back yet to make sure I'm right on the title. I think the heroine is Phoebe, a hostage negotiator with the police department. She is attacked by a bad cop in the stairwell of the police station.

Hi everyone.
I'm trying to remember in which book Roarke shows Feeney and McNabb his secret office? Also the book where one of the agencies, I think it's Homeland, comes down on Roarke and Roarke gets upset with the NYPSD and what he sees as a lack of loyalty after all he's done for them.
It's driving me crazy that I can't find the book/s!

The homeland one is in Divided In Death. Roarke figures out that they knew about Eve and her father but never stepped in to help.

I don't think anyone else know about the secret computer room except for Roarke, Eve and Summerset.

No it wasn't Divided. This was more centered on them investigating Roarke, though it might not have been Homeland. I remember that Roarke was upset by what he saw as a betrayal by the NYPSD whom he had come to think of as friends. I only have a vague memory and its niggling at me.
As for the secret sharing, maybe i dreamed it. It's entirely possible ...

He does let them use the (guest?) computer lab he has in his house and also offered the NYPD a deal on new equipment at some point. The first time McNabb sees Eve's home computer he starts drooling until Roarke tells him they're already testing a newer model.

I know which one you are talking about but I can't think of the name. It has to do with an accounting firm who doesn't want Roarke helping Eve. Whitney tells her about it and then Roarke has his lawyers write a contract that he won't have any names only numbers. The name will come to me as soon as I stop thinking about it.

I'm curious why in 2060 book 36 the NYPSD is still "printing" information for Eves "murder board" & conferences with the rest of the team. I understand why in the first books, but I would just expect the author to be keeping up with current practices (most companies now a days convert paper received to digital), and her murder board be a large touchscreen monitor.

I think it has more to do with Eve and her distaste for technology than the level of technological advancement. That becomes clearer in later stories.

Deep in her heart, Eve is a down right GUM SHOE, who likes to investigate her cases the old fashioned way. She may not like TECHNOLOGY, but on some level she accepts it because it cuts investigation in half the time than doing it the old-fashioned way.

I don't think so. She's investigated people who blew things up but not a traditional arsonist.
