Nichole wrote: "Question, yo -I'm looking through my TBR and Fallen by Lauren Kate looks good but the blurb isn't very specific - which category would this fit in?"
Not sure if anyone has answered this yet, but I've read it and it would go under angels
Anyone familiar with Mona Lisa Awakening? Does it fit any of the categories? I'm still missing a few, I have some options for everything except a shifter book, so I'm open to suggestions...
MARTINA'S JANUARY LIST - 5/10 COMPLETEJust finished Thorn Queen (Dark Swan, Book 2) by Richelle Mead which I give 5 stars.
The Dark Swan series (which only consists of two books so far) is urban fantasy. It takes place in Tuscon, AZ and the Otherworld, which is basically a faery realm - but in this book faery people are called either "the gentry" or "the shining ones".
The main character is Eugenie Markham, a half-human, half-gentry shaman paid to bind & banish Otherworld creatures from our world back to Otherworld. However, in her last battle, she also became queen of the Thorn Land in Otherworld. Now, she's torn between the two lands and their people.
I LOVE this author and read all three of her series, but I think this might be my very favorite book so far, which makes me VERY sad that book three, Iron Crowned, won't be out until 2011. This is definitely a series I'll keep reading.
As for similar titles, they're a teeny bit similar to Yasmine Galenorn's Sisters of the Moon series in that they're mainly about the fae and Otherworld, but the writing isn't terribly similar or perhaps Laurell K. Hamilton's Meredith Gentry series (without the X-rated sex scenes). For similar writing but a very different storyline, try the Georgina Kincaid series (aka Succubus series) also by Richelle Mead.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've read the Sookie books, and the Nalini Singh book are on my long list of tbr books, if whomever checked out the first one from the library ever returns it or it comes on paperback swap. I'll check into those others though. :)

Amelia, how did you like Death's Mistress (just... you know.. in case anybody is looking for something interesting to read)? :P
Oh yes ofcourse Tara. Vampire hours, right? Oh Shannon, me too! I'm still stuck in my second book cause I've been doing other stuff than reading and the only book I read was a re-read from a week ago (which I love and adored).
Hope you get to it for next challenge.
Mel, Karen Chance should pay you, I have never seen one person drum up so much biz for another! You should be in marketing or sales, lol!! She should def send you a settlement, you are amazing!!
LOL. Thank you (I guess). I'm not the only one pushing Karen Chance, you should see Amelia. And we do it cause she deserves it. She writes really great, interesting, funny UF books which lots of action, twists and hot romance.
Some people didn't get past her first book in the Cassie Palmer series, which admitably wasn't very good: too much info given in inappropriate times. But the rest of the books are golden!
And seriously: her series has one of the most interesting male hero's in the genre (ever heard of Pritkin?).
I've been a bit extra on a roll this week cause I heard the release of one of KC's books might be pushed back by her editor cause of the illness of the author. She is fine now by the way. So I was hoping that extra popularity might help.

Oh wait, you have heard of Pritkin, LOL. Just looked at your read-list. But I see you haven't read the Dory series yet. The second one, Death's Mistress, came out this week and it's great (GR-rating so far is 4,47 I believe). Okay I will stop now.
That's right Lynn! We are the unofficial Chance pushers. I make T-shirts with character slogans, I harass all of my friends, I harass starngers in B+N. I have no Shame. :)I should be in advertising. lol
