Sabrina smiled at him gratefully, looking just over his shoulder rather than focusing on his face.

Alek looked at her sadly, before he closed her door and went to the drivers side. He sped to Rebecca's house, pulling up in front of the house much sooner than he normally would have. "Wait here," he told her, getting out. He ran up the steps to the house and pounded on the door.
Christian answered the door with a glare. "Can I help you?" he asked.
"Sabrina's going blind," Alek said, panic written all over his face, "and I can't fix it. I need you and your sister."
"I'll get her Come inside." Christian said, And he dashed up the stairs and entered Rebecca's room without knocking, his eyes closed- just in case- and said, "We need you downstairs. Now."
"Oh relax," Rebecca chuckled. "There's nothing to see, everyone's decent." She kissed Zach on the head and followed Christian down in jeans and a black t-shirt.Alek went back you the the car and lifted Sabrina out of her seat to bring her inside.
"It's never safe with you two." Christian said, opening his eyes and going downstairs."My inability to see has not hindered my legs. I can still walk." Sabrina said.
"I just don't want you to fall, or crash into something," Alek said, setting her on the couch.Rebecca laughed. "So what's happening?" She asked as they got to the bottom of the stairs.
Sabrina sighed. "I know. Thank you.""Sabrinas going blind." Christian said, coming up behind her. "I don't know all the details."
Rebecca turned to Alek. "Did you try..." and she ran through a host of spells that she thought could be used in that situation. Each of which Alek said he had.
"What happened right before you guys noticed she couldn't see?" Christian asked.
"I was eating a sandwich," Alek said.
"Nothing unnusual? Was it a radioactive sandwich?" Christian asked."It was missing pepper." Sabrina added.
Something clicked suddenly for Rebecca. "What were you doing eating a sandwich?" She asked Alek. "You don't eat."
"Oh yeah. That." Sabrina said, And she explained the events that lead to Alek becoming human again.By the end of her explanation, there was a worried gray parlor to Christians skin, and he looked like he was about to be sick.
"Christian what is it?" Rebecca asked. "You look like you've just been given a death sentence."
"I haven't." Christian said. "But she might have." he sighed. "What is with you Summers girls and getting yourselves into trouble?" he said to no one. "I know what's wrong." he added. "But you're not going to like it."
Christian started by explaining his research into their biological parents to explain the origin of Sabrinas powers. By the end of his explanation, it was Sabrina who looked likely to faint, but he didn't give her time to respond, he just pressed on. "Fire from the soul is equivalent to life itself. People with your powers can do things as great as bringing back the dead, but always with a fallout, usually their life - a life for a life, as it were. Because Alek wasn't technically dead, because his consciousness never left him, bringing him back didn't cost you your life. But there's ways a price and this is it. It could be temporary or permanent, I really have no idea. Magic may or may not help, I don't know that either. I do know that this is magic beyond a mere novice. How'd you even manage to do it?" Christian asked finally pausing to let Sabrina respond, and she just shrugged, still distracted by the implication he made about her parents.
"How do I give it back?" Alek asked. "I don't want to be alive if it hurts her."
"She'd have to undo the magic. Which could take time since she doesn't know how to control it." Christian replied,"You're saying my dad might not really be my dad." Sabrina interrupted, still several steps behind in the conversation.
Christian shrugged, but the expression on his face said that's exactly what he thought.
"She can't see that," Rebecca whispered in Christian's ear.
"Oh, right." Christian muttered. "I can't say for sure." he replied to Sabrina. "It's not my place to say. You should talk to your mom."
"Teach her how to undo the magic," Alek told Christian, "right now."
"I can't." Christian said. "I'm sorry, but I've never learned to work with this kind of magic. I never thought I'd have to. it'll take me at least a week to figure something out."
"That's not good enough!" Alek snapped.
Christian sighed. "I can...I can probably bind her powers so she doesn't accidentally kill herself until I can teach her how to use them. That's all I can do."
"Fine," Alek said, "do that for now. But a week is far too long."
"I'll work on it." Christian said. He walked over to Sabrina his hands held out to her, and shadows flowed from his fingertips to her chest, entering her body, his face twisted in concentration.
Alek watched worriedly, taking Sabrina's hand and holding it tight.
When Christian finally put his hands down, he panting and sweating slightly. "That should work." Christian said. "Nothing worse should happen."
"You good?" Rebecca asked Christian.
Christian nodded, sinking into a nearby chair. "Fine" he said.
Alek thanked Rebecca and Christian. He helped Sabrina to her feet and slowly lead her toward the door.
Sabrina walked slowly, using a combination of Aleks lead, and what she knew about the house to walk out.
Alek gently lowered into the car and closed the door.
Sabrina's hands fumbled around the edge of the door for a bit before she found the seat belt and buckled up.
"For what?" Sabrina asked, confused.
"Because I told you to stay," Alek said, putting his head against the steering wheel.
Sabrina reached over, her hand landing on his back, and she moved it up until she was able to run her fingers through his hair. "I wouldn't have stayed if I didn't want to." Sabrina said. "More than anything I wanted to stay."
"No I mean that now I have to say after this is done, after things are put back, i have to stay away from you," Alek said. "I might snap your neck and kill you by accident. I could get thirsty and rip your throat open. Or I could do this to you again. I'm sorry I told you to stay, when now I have to walk away."
Sabrina pulled her hand back and clasped it in her lap with the other one and looked out of the window, moving so her hair covered her face from his view. "Oh," she said, blinking rapidly to keep her eyes from tearing up.
"I'm so so sorry," Alek said, his voice choking up. "When I said it, I meant it. You told me to only if I did. I wanted to make it work, to not have to do this again. Then you made me human and I was more than thrilled, because it fixed everything. But now it has hurt you and now I'm going to be a monster again and... and.." He stopped there, he hadn't stopped while he spoke the way he hadn't as a vampire, and he needed to catch his breath. But he couldn't because his his throat was curling in on itself to hold a sob in place.
"Part of me doesn't want to take it back." Sabrina whispered, still not turning to look at him, because she didn't see the point of it when she couldn't see him.
"You have to take it back," Alek told her. He reached across the seat and turned her to him. "You have to. I can't live knowing that it hurt you. That my life costs yours." He pressed his head against hers. "I won't take your life."
"You didn't." Sabrina replied. "You haven't taken anything. I'd give you anything, but no matter how much I try to give you, you give it back. You're probably the least selfish one in this relationship, because God knows if I weren't so selfish I wouldn't keep putting you in this position." She paused when her voice broke, then continued, though her voice still shook. "And I'm sorry."
Alek undid her seat belt and pulled her into his lap. He wrapped his arms around her tight, resting her head against his chest. "You don't ever have to be sorry with me," he said softly. "I'm the problem. I'm the one who destroys. You are perfect, you don't have to be sorry."
Sabrina could hear his heartbeat, and the idea that if she did figure out how to undo the magic, it would stop pushed the tears that had been pooling in her eyes over the edge and down her face. "Nobody's perfect." Sabrina said softly, "But even then, you're pretty perfect to me. I don't think you destroy."
"That's because you didn't know me before," Alek said. "You met me when I'd turned soft."
