Nothing more happened to the shadows, and a voice, the voice that Sabrina couldn't identify earlier, Balthazars voice, rang through the room. "Surely you can do better than that. "

Alek abandoned the light in favor of a stream of flames.
"You're doing this all wrong, fighting cruelty with hatred in your heart, you know." Balthazar commented in a sing song voice, not sounding the least bit concerned.
Alek gave up in the flames, but had no idea what to try next.
"What we're you thinking of when you lit those flames? " Sabrina asked, now awake and standing behind him.
"That I wanted to destroy him," Alek said.
"Try thinking of something nicer." Sabrina said, wrapping her arms around him from behind.
Alek focused on her arms around him as he made another flame and directed it into the shadow.
The cracks in the shadow spread and grew.
Alek thought about the pictures on the walls and the flames grew larger.
The shadows eventually crumbled and receaded.
Alek smiled and let the flames die.
Sabrina walked up to the closet, examining it closely.
"Anything out of the ordinary?" Alek asked, coming up beside her.
Sabrina shook her head. "I don't think so."
"That was too easy," Alek said looking around the room again.
"We're almost definitely missing something. " Sabrina agreed.
Alek started going through everything in the room looking for what they could have missed. Occasionally looking suspiciously over at her.
Sabrina stood, occasionally looking around, but not looking concerned.
"You're what's wrong with the picture," Alek finally said. "You're what made it too easy."
"What are you talking about?" Sabrina asked innocently.
"You woke up," Alek said. "You shouldn't have. You don't fit."
Alek circled her slowly, looking for something else out of place.
Irritation at his suspicion was clear on Sabrinas face, and for a split second, the glamour failed, her usually blue eyes turning Balthazars black.
"Gotcha," Alek hissed, pinning him against the wall. "Where is she?"
Sabrinas eyes turned blue and worried. "Where is who?" she asked.
"Don't play games," Alek growled.
Sabrina flinched at his tone, and Balthazars voice laughed. "That's not me, bloodsucker." Balthazar said.
"And why would I believe you," Alek asked, but he let go of Sabrina anyway.
"No reason to, I lie. Actually, what I told you was only a half truth. That's not me, but that's not entirely her either. There's part of me in her." Balthazars voice said.
Alek paced back and forth trying to figure out what his next move should be.
"You can't undo what I've done." Balthazar said. "Unless you kill her. But I make no guarantees that she'll survive in the real world."
"Sabrina, lay down," Alek said, flatly.
"I won't kill you," Alek said. "Just lay down."
Alek put his hand on her head and did the spell he had done to get there in the first place, just to see what would happen.
The mind of Sabrinas mind held her darker, most inner thoughts, and they symbolized themselves as a dark, cold stone room. There were no pictures, no solid memories, but emotions were in the room, in the atmosphere so thick it was almost like they were physical gases; fear and worry, but grief and heartbreak stood out the most. And in a corner, where another symbolization of Sabrina should have been, sat Balthazar, sitting casually as if he had always been there, had every right to be there.
"Looks like I don't have to kill her after all," Alek said when he found him. "Just you."
"I didn't know that was possible." Balthazar mused. "You learn something new everyday."
"I didn't know either," Alek said. "Just thought it was worth a shot."
Balthazar stood. "Can you feel it?" he asked, gesturing to the empty space. "All this grief for her parents and heartbreak for you she has locked in her heart?" he took a deep breath, taking in the feelings, "It's marvelous."
Alek could feel it all too well. It mixed with his own and was burning him from the inside out, but he kept it off his face as he moved across the room to Balthazar. "If I kill you in here, what do you think happens to you out there?" He mused. "I bet it would be the same as if she died in here, I bet you turn into a vegetable."
Balthazar rolled his eyes. "Like I'd be stupid enough to leave enough of myself here to endanger myself like that."
Alek shrugged. "That's too bad. But I bet this still hurts like b**ch in here and out there." Then he shoved his hand through his chest and grabbed hold of his heart. "Now before I pull this out, I want to know what that shadow was."
Balthazar grinned, blood leaking from a corner of his mouth. "Nothing but a diversion" he said.
"Good one," Alek praised, then jerked his arm back; yanking the heart, still beating, from its place.
Balthazars body jerked and the light that all living things had in his eyes left his as he slid to the ground. His image wavered, then faded, and Sabrina took his place, curled up on the floor, trembling and crying, her eyes simultaneously alight with pain and anger.
Alek knelt beside Sabrina, and put a hand on her shoulder.
