"I'm just trying to protect you," Alek sighed, standing and holding his hand out to her. "Now would you like to get out of the tree?"

Sabrina nodded and reluctantly took his hand.
Alek lifted her into his arms and wrapped his arms around her securely. "Hold on tight," he said, before stepping off the branch.
Sabrina wrapped her arms around him tightly.
They fell through the air for several long seconds before landing like it had only been a few feet.
Sabrina hopped down from his arms, and turned to him. "Alek...I'm sorry. For snapping at you. I woke up in a bad mood, but I shouldn't have taken it out on you. I know you're just trying to keep me safe. That and...well, I think I get it now. Why you said things will never work out between us. To think that we even contemplated killing Henry...horrified me. And there are so many things I want to do with my life that I couldn't as a vampire. As more time passes, the more it seems like we just aren't meant to be together. Which you tried telling me, and I wouldn't listen, and I'm sorry for any trouble my stubbornness cause you, but j get it now." every word felt like a blow to the chest, but they were all true- she was tired of needing to be protected and causing trouble for someone she only wanted to love.
"You have never caused me any trouble," Alek said softly, running a hand through her hair. He pressed his forehead against hers as he continued. "The past few weeks were amazing, and I'm sorry I'm not strong enough for you."
Sabrina shrugged. "We all have our weaknesses. " she said softly.
"If only mine were something lame like normal people," Alek said. "Like heart disease."
Sabrina laughed without humor. "If only." she said.
"And if only it didn't seem to follow me around wherever I go," Alek smirked.
Sabrina reached up and rested her hand on the side of his face. "A month ago I was cursing th universe that I even had to move here. Now I've found someone I'd follow anywhere, and we can't be together. Karma's a b**ch" she said.
"The worst," Alek agreed softly, savoring the heat of her hand against his face.
Sabrina kissed him softly. "I know it's not enough, but I love you." she whispered against his lips.
Alek wanted to pull her away, to hold her at arms length, to stop them from regressing back to where they shouldn't be. But instead he had one hand on the small of her back and the other at the base of her skull, pulling her closer as he kissed her back. I love you too! The words tried to fight their way toward his lips but he held them back, not seeing what good they could do.
Sabrina moaned softly, her love and want for him painfully evident in the sound. But she managed to pull back from him and step away, though not without the whimper of someone having something essential torn from them.
Alek groaned in dismay as she pulled away. His hands were balled into fists as he tried to stay where he was, unable to move away from where he was.
Sabrina was breathing heavily, the simple kiss affecting her as much as any of their more passionate embraces, and her cheeks were flushed. She stood there, trying to catch her breath and pull herself together before she ended up back in his arms.
Alek couldn't stop himslef, in less than a fraction of a second he had her face in his hands and was kissing her hard.
Sabrina whispered and found her hands fisted in his hair, pulling him closer.

Alek kissed her fervently, backing her against the trunk of a tree.
Sabrina kissed him fiercely, drowning. in him and never wanting to let go.
"I love you," Alek whispered, the words audible for the first time as he moved his lips to her jaw. "Sabrina, I love you," he breathed again.
Sabrinas breath caught, her heart stuttering as an expression of complete surprise came to her face.
Alek looked at her, and said it again, slowly, emphasizing each word. "I, love, you."
tears entered Sabrina s eyes and she blinked rapidly to keep them from falling.
Alek looked down. "I shouldn't have said anything," he said. "All it does is make things worse."
Sabrina shook her head. "in a way, I think it makes things easier." she said softly.
"it's just a nice thought yo hold on to until I really am ready to let go." Sabrina said. "I hope you use my love for you the same way."
Alek looked down at her sadly, moving the slightest bit to let her out from against the tree; but he was hoping that she wouldn't go.
Sabrina slipped out from under him, and started jogging back the way she'd cone from,
Alek sighed and watched her get smaller and smaller in the distance.
He's gone. you can't use him against me. Sabrina thought to the voice that had, in the hour alek was gone, spoken to her until it straight out threatened him if Sabrina didn't cooperate with plans it refused to reveal.Oh, but I've already used him against you. His purpose is done anyway. the voice replied, and Sabrina ran faster.
in front of alek, where Sabrina had been, Henry appeared from a cloud of smoke. "Hey boodsucker. let's talk"
In the blink of an eye Alek had his hand wrapped around Henry's throat. "Great idea," he said. "Let's start with what the hell you are."
"I will." Henry said, smirking. "But know this-I've linked her mind with mine. kill me, you kill her."
It was a few seconds before Alek dropped him.
Henry's smirk widened, then his form shimmered and his true face came into focus- the dark eyes and overlong black hair of Balthazar.
"You're the brother."
"Bingo." Balthazar said. "I managed to come back and wanted nothing more than to go to Georgia to play with ny favorite toy, but what do you know? She wasn't there. But that's alright, because she's mine now. "
"You're as delusional as your sister if you think I'm going to let that happen," Alek growled.
"It's already happened. " Balthazar said, "Go on, hurt me- see if her scream doesn't fill the air."
Alek snarled, and his eyes narrowed, but he didn't try anything.
"I just wanted to let you know what you were up against. I got tired of playing in the shadows." Balthazar said. "I couldn't get to that werewolfs girl, but I'll get Sabrina.we were childhood friends after all.and when she finally joins me, it'll be very poetic when her power both saves and kills you." Balthazar said with a sneer.
"Why the hell would she join her would-be rapist?" Alek spat.
"What fun would it be if I told you all my plans?" Balthazar said. "Besides, you of all people should know that fear can be a great motivator. "
"The best," Alek agreed. "But lately I found a motivator that works even better."
