"You're going to have to be more specific." Sabrina said.

"Your eyes were red," Alek said. "Like Susannah's before she light things on fire. I guess she didn't just get it from her father."
"I don't know what you're talking about." Sabrina said, taking the car being parked as an opportunity to get out of it.
Alek sighed and got out to get her. "Change of plans," he said, putting her back in her seat. "You're not going to breakfast." Then he continued driving.
"I hate you." Sabrina said. "Let's just make that official. I don't think I've ever met such an infuriatingly controlling person in my life."
"That's not what you said last night after dinner," Alek said.
"I'm really mad at you right now, so I think I'll stick with what I'm saying now." Sabrina replied.
"As you wish," Alek said. "How's your hand?"
"How else would it be? It hurts." Sabrina snapped.
"Let me see," Alek said, taking her hand.
Sabrina tried to snatch her hand back. "Don't touch me," she said.
"Shush," Alek said. His eyes flashed yellow then he removed her bandage to reveal the healed skin.
"You say one more condescending thing to me and I swear to God I'm jumping out of this car." Sabrina said venomously, her eyes flashing a vivid red again.
Alek flicked the child lock switch for the doors to be on the safe side. "No you aren't," he said. "And your welcome."
"Oh, I'm sorry, Alek," Sabrina said, lacing her words with sarcasm. "Thank you. Thank you for nearly killing me yesterday. Thank you for refusing to let me go home and locking me in your house. Thank you for being the main star in nightmares that made me afraid to close my eyes. Thank you for completely disregarding the fact that I wanted nothing to do with you this morning and shoving me in your car anyway - twice. Thank you for taking my hand when I very clearly told you not to touch me. Thank you for making so angry I'd rather have tea with mom and Henry while he stared at me with those creepy, sleazy eyes of his than stay in this car one more second. Really. Thanks."
"You're welcome Sabrina," Alek replied, very nearly sounding sincere.
Sabrina gritted her teeth to keep from screaming in anger and clenched her hands in her lap to keep from punching him. She looked out the window, body tense and ridged.
Alek stopped the car in front of a house a few minutes later and got out. "Wait here," he said locking the doors. He went and knocked on the door calling for Christian.
Christian came out a few minutes later. "What's up?" he asked.
"I've got another fire starter for you to train," Alek said.
"What are you talking about?" Christian asked, then he looked over his shoulder. "Damn. I've never seen shadows swirl like that. What's got her so mad?"
"I might have... accidentally... almost killed her last night," Alek said. "That may have something to do with it."
A ball of swirling shadows slammed into Alek hard enough to knock him down and push him several feet down the sidewalk.
Alek got up and brushed himself off. "Ow," he said sarcastically. "You done?"
Christian shrugged. "I never liked you. I'll probably never be done. But for now, I guess I'll pause." he stepped down his porch and headed towards Sabrina.
Alek hit the button that unlocked the car to let Sabrina out.
As soon as she heard the locks click, Sabrina scrambled out of the car. She saw Christian and ran up to him, hugging him. "You're shaking like a leaf, Sabrina, what is it?" Christian asked, holding her.\"I can't decide if I'm scared or angry." Sabrina replied.
"Well, come inside and we'll try to figure out what Bloodsucker Petrov is talking about, and then we can do something more...pleasant." Christian said.
"Like what?" Sabrina asked.
Christian shrugged. "I don't know yet. I'm making this up as I go along."
That actually made Sabrina laugh and Christian led her inside.
Alek watched them go in then sighed and left. It had worked, all morning he did everything he could think of to make her angrier, to make her hate him. Now she'll never be near me. Never be somewhere I can hurt her. Now she's safe, he kept telling himself. He went back to his house and packed her things then went to Jacob's.Jacob was dead asleep when Alek started knocking.
Sabrina and Christian spent several hours trying to figure out why Sabrina's eyes flashed red, but they were unable to find any firestarter blood in her family tree. After having gotten used to waking up early to visit Jacob as soon as visiting hours started, Susannah was already awake and she answered the door.
"Hey Susannah," Alek said, "I wanted to talk to you and Jake about something."
"Is it important?" Susannah asked. "Because Jacob's asleep."
"No I'm not," Jacob said, coming up behind Susannah and wrapping his arms around her waist. "Man Alek, all that time where I didn't have to deal with your scent only made it stronger. So what's up?""I came to see if Sabrina could stay with you guys while Henry's at her house," Alek said.
"I wouldn't mind." Susannah said, looking at Jacob to see if he agreed.
"Sure," Jacob said. "But why doesn't she just stay with you?" "That was the plan, until I almost killed her last night," Alek said. "Now I've spent all morning making sure she hates me so that we won't be in that position again."
"...you know Sabrina doesn't hold grudges very well, right?" Susannah said. "She'll be super mad for a couple of days, and then suddenly continue as if nothing happened."
"Then I'll just keep making her hate me," Alek said. "She's at Rebecca's now, with Christian. Her eyes kept turning red when I was pissing her off, so I took her over there."
"Anyway," Alek said, "here's her stuff, and don't tell her what I said about this morning; it'll probably make her think I'm a good person and she should give me another chance."
"You don't want her to?" Susannah asked, confused. "I thought you liked her?"
"Sometimes I think it might be even more than that," Alek said. "That's why she needs to hate me, so that she'll stay away from me and be safe."
Susannah shrugged. "Alright then, we won't tell her."
Alek nodded, going back to his car. "Oh and..." he said turning back to them, "Adrian might be back."
Susannah put her hands behind her back to hide the way they started shaking. "Oh? What makes you think that?" she asked.
"Some stuff that happened yesterday," Alek said. "My guess: is she's Henry."
"I'm not out of the hospital for 24 hours..." Jacob sighed.
Susannah sighed. "I guess we'll deal with her when she makes her motives known."
"Her motives are I'm not dead so she can f**k with our lives," Jacob said. "And here I was looking forward to spending the day with you, and now I'll be to worried to fully enjoy it."
"Thanks for letting us know, Alek." Susannah said.
Alek waved and drove off. "You'll be under guard at all time," Jacob said, closing the door. "If I'm ever not around a member of the pack will be with you. Just like when Kahlan was after you."
