"He always just comes right in whenever he wants," Jacob said.

"Why do you think he stopped this time? " Sabrina asked.
"I don't know," Jacob said. "Maybe he just decided to follow the rules for a change."
"Are you guys still going to the dance? " Sabrina asked.
"If you still want to," Jacob said turning to Susuannah.
"If your shoulder isn't still bothering you," Susannah replied.
"I'll be alright," Jacob said. "So long as we avoid activities like that for a few more days."
"Well...have fun." Sabrina said. Then she smiled and looked at Susannah. "Want me to do your hair?!" she asked."Um..." Susannah said, shifting uncomfortably.
"It'll look good, I promise. I can even do your make up." Sabrina added.
Seeing that she wouldn't give it up, Susannah sighed. "Yeah, sure."
"No arguing," Jacob said. "I put your stuff in Susannah's room."
"But Jacob," Sabrina whined, "I don't feel like going out.""You were all excited about the dance just a couple of days ago!" Susannah said.
"Come on," Jacob said, taking her shoulders and leading her out to Susannah's room.
Sabrina sighed, but allowed herself to he led to Susannah's room.
Jacob laid out her dress on Susannah's bed along with the earrings and necklace from Alek. "Now you guys get ready and I'll be back in a little while."
Susanah nodded while Sabrina stared at the dress looking sad.

Sabrina and Susannah got dressed. Susannah spent five minutes arguing with Sabrina, trying to convince her to wear the jewelry alek had given her. Once Sabrina gave in and wore it, she helped Susannah with her hair, curling it then pinning it up so that some still fell to frame her face. Then Sabrina dusted her eyelids with light gold eyeshadow and glitter, and lipstick as red as her dress that Susannah was against until she took a look in the mirror. Sabrina put on silver eyeshadow and light pink lip gloss, leaving her hair down and naturally curly.Zachs eyes widened when he saw her. "Wow." he said.
"Come on," Rebecca said, grabbing his hand and pulling him up to his room. "I totally forgot the Solstice dance is tonight!"Jacob came in when they were done in a plain black suit.
"The what?" Zach asked as he followed her.Susannah smiled when she saw him. "Well don't you look nice." she said.
"Not as much as you," Jacob said. "Now close your eyes; I have a surprise for you.""The Summer Solstice Dance," Rebecca said, looking through his closet for a suit.
Susannah closed her eyes."The closest thing I have to a suit are some black slacks and a navy blazer. I haven't worn either since freshman year, I don't even know if they fit." Zach said, moving his clothes to the side to show her the pants and jacket in a clear laundry bag that had a fine layer of dust on it.
"What about what you wore to spring fling?" Rebecca asked.Jacob placed a necklace around her neck. "Open," he said softly.

"Hmm...it'll be a miracle if it's washed." Zach said, digging out a box from under his bed.Susannah opened her eyes and looked down. "Its beautiful." she said, smiling. "What's the occassion?"
"We're both alive," Jacob said.Rebecca tapped her foot nervously.
"that is a very good reason." Susannah said, kissing him lightly. "Thank you."Zach opened it. "My mother is a miracle worker." he said as the smell of soap wafted up from the box of clothes. "I know I didn't wash it."
Rebecca sighed in relief. "Hurry and get dressed," she said. Jacob smiled and held his arms out to Sabrina and Susannah. "Shall we ladies?"
Zach nodded and went into the bathroom, to change quickly, throwing his hair into disarray in the process so that by the time he came out, he was dressed nicely, but looked like his hair hadn't seen a brush in days."We shall." Susannah said, And they each took an arm.
Jacob lead them out to the car.Rebecca laughed. "Your hair is ridiculous," she said grabbing his hand and leading him back to the bathroom.
They. into the car."What do you mean?" Zach asked, then he looked in the mirror. "Oh," he said, blushing and searching for a comb.
"Let me help," Rebecca smiled, grabbing the comb and running it through his hair. Jacob drove to the dance.
Alek had tried to distract himself from the dance by doing the summer assignment, but finished it in just a few hours.
"Thank you," Zach said in relief. "That would have taken me ages to fix, and I still don't think it would have quite reached your standards." he added jokingly.As they drove, Sabrina stared glumly out of the window, and tried not to think about how the only reason she had been so excited for the dance in the first place had been because it was her first dance with Alek.
"I happen to like your hair messy," Rebecca said. "Especially when I mess it up," she added with a smirk.
Zach grinned. "I like it best when you mess it up too." he said.
"But now we have to get to the dance," Rebecca said, giving him a quick kiss before running out.
Zach laughed, amused by how hurried she was, but he followed quickly behind her anyway.
Rebecca tossed him the keys and got in the car.
Zach got in, and started driving, then he said, "Where's the dance?"
Zach nodded, and soon they were there.
Jacob pulled up at about the same time as Zach and Rebecca.
Zach, Susannah and Sabrina got out of their respective cars at about the same time.
"Hey guys," Rebecca smiled, getting out of the car. "Sabrina I thought you'd be here with Alek," she said, not knowing about the break-up.
Sabrinas face took on an expression similar to that of someone who'd been punched. "He broke up with me." she said softly.
"Oh god, I'm sorry," Rebecca said.
Sabrina just shrugged and looked at her feet.
"Come on," Rebecca said grabbing her arm. "Lets find you a guy to make you think 'Alek who?'" She said.
Sabrina laughed half heartedly. "Good luck with that." she said.
"Well we're not gonna find anyone with that attitude," Rebecca said, pulling her toward the dance.Jacob wrapped his arm around Susannah's waist, keeping and eye out for Henry as they walked into the dance.
Sabrina sighed. "I guess you're right." she said.Henry was already at the dance, leaning against the drink table, his eyes flitting over the room as if searching for something. They stopped on Sabrina, taking in how Alek wasn't with her.
