So I could have called you my boyfriend? is what Sabrina wanted to say. What came out of her mouth instead was, "So I could have told her we weren't anything serious?"
Alek's jaw tightened. "If that's what you want," he said.
No! Sabrina nodded and looked out the window.
Alek pulled up in front of the house and let her in. "Night," he said, turning to leave again.
"Where are you going?" Sabrina asked
"Hunting," Alek said, shutting the door behind him.
Sabrina shrugged a n d went upstairs.What the hell? Why did I say that? Sabrina thought. Then another thought, only it wasn't her own, a little birdie told me someone wasn't dead Sabrina looked around the room, her heartbeat spiking in fear. It wasn't even Adriana voice, something she might have understood. She'd never heard that voice before.
Alek paused, just within range to hear her heart spike, but then shook his head. Not her boyfriend, not my problem, he thought bitterly, forcing his legs to carry him deeper into the woods.
Who are you, what's going on? Sabrina thought.I'm surprised you don't recognize me...darlin'
Sabrina was even more confused. I don't understand
watch images flashed through her mind; her dad leaving for war, an explosion, the man that came to her house to tell her the news, and the sound of het mothers sobs filling the house, filling her ears until she was on the ground, her head in her hands screaming, "STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT!"
Alek turned and ran back, not able to ignore her any longer.
The noise cut off abruptly and Sabrina was on the floor gasping, shaking and crying.I'll explain more later, darlin'. But don't expect your mouth to be yours for the time being.
Alek barged into the room and knelt down beside her. "You okay love?" He asked worriedly.
Sabrina shook her head, but didn't say anything, her tears falling down her face silently now.
"What's wrong," Alek asked, running his fingers through her hair.
I don't want to say "Go away" Sabrina said, then she shook her head desperately, trying to get him to see that that's not what she meant to say at all.
Alek took a step back looking at her, confused.
Sabrina reached out and grabbed his wrist to keep him from pulling back any farther.
Alek stopped and tilted his head, questioningly.
"Dont" Sabrina bit her lip and paused, not wanting to give whoever was controlling her the chance to turn het words into something ugly. "Go," another pause. "please"
Alek nodded and gently lifted her onto the bed.
Instead of staying on the bed, however, Sabrina got up nd hunted down a piece of paper and a pen and wrote down what happened in her loopy, swirly handwriting and passed him the paper.
"Do you know who?" Alek asked, handing back the paper.
'Only one person expects someone to be dead who isn't.' Sabrina wrote. 'But only one person calls me darlin''
"Do you think it's possible she turned into him?" Alek asked.
"Hold on," Alek said taking out his phone to text Christian. Christian, when is the next blue moon? he texted.
Is there any other way to test for shifters?
Not that I know of, but I can check. Why?
Just a suspicion. I think Adrian might be back, and pissed about Jacob.
Sabrinas phone rang. "Hello?" she answered hesitantly."what's wrong?" Came Christians voice from the other end.
Alek took the phone from her gently. "Christian, someone is messing with her speech," Alek said into the phone.
"What do you mean?" Christian asked, confused.
"As in she'll open her mouth and something that she didn't want to say will come out," Alek said.
"Ah. Ok. Then bye." Christian said hanging up.
Sabrina wrote something on some paper and held it up for him to read. I'm actually very serious about you.
"Then what was all that in the car?" Alek asked.
Sabrina shrugged, looking at him apologetically . None of it was what I wanted to say. I'm sorry.
"Alright," Alek said, kissing her head.
Alek sat and pulled her into his lap. "What are we going to do?" He mused.
I have a question: Can I introduce you as my boyfriend next time? Sabrina wrote.
"Sure thing love," Alek said, kissing her head.
Sabrina smiled. Then she wrote, Are you still dreading the dance?
Alek shrugged. "I'm worried that he'll show up," he said.
He will. Sabrina wrote. Almost definitely.
