"Susannah called me," Alek lied smoothly. "Said she couldn't get in touch with her and really needs to talk to her."

Shirley sighed. "I swear, if that girl loses our contact information one more time I'll tattoo it to her hand. Come on in, she's in the living room." Shirley said, stepping aside to left alek in.Henry took Sabrinas hand in his and leaned in close to her, as if to whisper a secret, "I can't wait to see you like that again." he breathed.
That's how they were seated when Shirley finally entered the room, Alek behind her.
Alek followed her in and saw them. He grabbed Sabrina's hand and pulled her off the couch. "Hey, Sabrina," he said. "Susannah was looking for you."
"Wh-what did she want?" Sabrina asked, trying to pull herself together enough to play along, trying not to let Alek feel her hands shake.
"Not sure," Alek said, wrapping an arm around her and leading her out of the room. "I guess we'll find out."
"Try not to be too long, dear. Henry said he really wanted to catch up with you." Shirley said.Sabrina nodded and let Alek lead her out of the room.
The moment they were out of sight Alek teleported to her room and started throwing some of her clothes into a bag. "You're staying at my house for a while," he said, looking for her dress for Friday.
"What? Why?" Sabrina asked, sounding a hundred miles away.
"Because he won't know where to find you there," Alek said. "It's either you stay with me where I'll keep you safe, or I go down there and rip his head from his shoulders! I heard everything he said to you, and I've known people like that, and people worse than that. I will not leave you here with him, he will only get worse."
Sabrina sat on the floor where she stood, and pulled her knees to her chest, wrapping her arms around them tightly, shaking. "Of all the things that could have walked through that door, I would have never expected that." she mumbled.
Alek knelt in front of her, hands on her shoulder. "I won't let him anywhere near you," he swore.
Sabrina threw her arms around him and clung to him tightly. "Will you just hold me for a bit?" she asked softly. "Please?"
Alek sat on the floor, pulling her into his lap. "Anything you want love," he whispered, holding her against him tightly.
After a couple of minutes, Sabrina's shaking stopped, and the tension left her body. "Thank you," Sabrina said quietly once she'd calmed down.
Alek nodded and kissed her head. "What else do you need?" He asked her.
Sabrina shook her head, standing. "Nothing, that's it." she said.
"Do you want me to pack anything else for you?" Alek asked.
Sabrina shook her head again. "No, what you have is fine."
"Come on," Alek said leading her out to his car. "We'll figure out something to tell your mom later."
Alek opened the door for her and put the bag in the trunk.
Sabrina climbed into the car and buckled up.
Alek didn't say anything as he drove to his house.
Sabrina couldn't stop talking. Now that her fear had left, anger had taken it's place. "Why's he even here? He has no business in Washington. I can't believe his parents even let him cross the Georgia state line. And my mother, why is she suddenly all buddy-buddy with him now? She never liked him much back home. None of it makes sense."
"Your mother probably likes him now because she misses Georgia and he reminds her of it," Alek said.
"I guess." Sabrina replied. "It's still annoying."
Alek reached over and took her hand. "Don't worry about it," he said. "There's only a few more weeks of summer."
"That's true," Sabrina said. "Actually...I don't even know where I'll be at the end of the summer. Mom only leased the house through the end of summer."
"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it," Alek said.
Sabrina sighed. "The one good thing about moving here was that he wasn't here. And now he is."
"The one good thing?" Alek asked raising and eyebrow.
"When I first moved here." Sabrina amended. "Obviously now there's something else that makes me want to stay."
Alek pulled up to his house and parked. "Shall we?"
Sabrina nodded and got out of the car.
Alek hit the button to open the trunk while he got out, taking her bag as he went in.
"The bedroom's all yours," Alek said. "Are you hungry? We can go out to eat, or just shopping for food."
Sabrina nodded. "I'm starving." she said. "Let's go shopping for some food. I don't like sitting in restaurants without you eating. It's weird."
"Alright," Alek said. "Why don't you give me a list of what you want while you settle in."
Sabrina wrote down a quick list with a few things and handed it to him.
Alek handed her the bag with her things and kissed her gently before leaving to go to the store.
Sabrina watched him leave, then went into his room. She set her stuff down, then decided that she really needed a shower and headed into the bathroom with a change of clothes to take one.
Alek came back close to an hour later with everything Sabrina had asked for and began unpacking the groceries.
Sabrina had just come out of the shower when she heard him come home. She bounded down the stairs, dressed in jeans and a sweatshirt, hair still damp with a few strands curling under her ears, and went into the kitchen to find him. "Well, welcome back," she greeted with a smile.
"Hey love," Alek smiled. "What would you like to eat?"
"Were you able to get the sandwich stuff?" Sabrina asked.
Alek pointed to the fridge, pulling the bread out of the cabinet.
Sabrina pulled turkey and cheese out of the fridge, and hunted down a plate.
Alek reached past her to open a cabinet that among other things housed a pack of paper pates.
"Thank you," Sabrina said, grabbing one and making a sandwich.
