Jennifer | 7 comments My debut novel, Life is But a Dream is not really traditional science fiction, but it most definitely includes a science fiction element. The primary focus is on the main character and her relationships, however. (Though this is NOT a romance novel, just a novel about love and life). Message me if you are interested in reading/reviewing

Angela is a narcoleptic. Or at least, that’s what she tells people. The truth is . . . somewhat more complicated. Angela has two lives, existing in parallel universes. When she sleeps in one life, she is awake in her other life. In one reality she is single and successful in New York City. In her other reality, she is a loving wife and mother in suburban Sacramento. But which life is real? And can she be happy in both of them? When, in one of her realities, she meets Tony, a handsome poet, she begins to think that perhaps she can find love and have the family she always dreamed of. But, as things go well in one life, they begin to fall apart in another, and Angela has to navigate complicated questions of family, loyalty, and love.

Derek Berg | 1 comments I have one sci-fi available in print and ebook.

Title: Domain Geometry

Link: https://www.amazon.com/Domain-Geometr...

Synopsis: A future of over indulgence polluted with mismanaged contaminants.
Pharmaceuticals have been leveraged by the ruling class. CEOs have been replaced with kings and lords.
When climate change and tribal warfare leave most of the earth uninhabitable, one city, New Atlantis, desperately clings to the social class structures and tyrannical control methods that made it the envy of the world. Upper-class cyborgs and lower-class naturals endure acid rain, coyotes, and the suck of the machine as they compete for dwindling resources.
Rita came to New Atlantis as a young girl; a refugee seeking asylum. Now an adult, Rita works inhumane hours in inhumane conditions. Impoverished, Rita does the unthinkable, selling her unborn children into servitude. As the last city on Earth collapses, and their way of life slowly unravels, Rita, her son, Váli, and her partner, Ernesto, contemplate the cost they have paid to be members of the “civilized” world.
Domain Geometry explores the need to dominate, the pursuit of superiority, and the infinite alternate outcomes stemming from each decision.

E.M. Kelly | 14 comments Hi, my name is Edmund Kelly and I just released my first novel Addiction & Pestilence which is the first book in my Slaying Dragons: A Journey Through Hell series.

Slaying Dragons is a term used to describe, in this instance, someone who has overcome their battle with addiction to drugs and/or alcohol as well as defeating evil or the Devil.

Synopsis:
Brian Phillips lies alone in the Lumpton Treatment Center, reflecting on the poor choices that lead him there. When a deadly virus is unleashed, Brian must flee for his life—aided only by a strange, otherworldly figure …
Meanwhile, Drew’s life is turned upside down when his wife walks out following an explosive argument about his drinking. The next morning he receives an untimely phone call, sending him to his ailing mother’s bedside.
As Drew arrives in Florida, a horrifying plague spreads at an alarming rate throughout the Earth. He must now make the long journey home on foot, encountering others along the way—each with their own hidden addictions. As the world is plunged into chaos, can those remaining fight through a disintegrating humanity and overcome their demons … or will they simply succumb?
A compelling look at addiction and the perseverance of the human spirit, Addiction and Pestilence is the exciting first installment in Edmund Kelly’s Slaying Dragons series.

Addiction & Pestilence can be found on Kindle and paperback coming soon! Amazon.com/author/edmundkelly

Now Kaden the most powerful human in existence has drawn the complete focus of Enki and Shamash the two warring leaders of the Annunaki; the aliens who created humanity. Both are determined to stop Kaden from becoming what he once was, who he once was. For if he becomes the Traveler a more powerful enemy will be freed.

V.R. Craft | 2 comments Hello! I'm V. R. Craft, and earlier this year I released my first book, Stupid Humans, which asks the question, "What if all the intelligent humans abandoned Earth—and we're what's left?"
Here's a little about it:
What if all the intelligent humans abandoned Earth... and we're what's left? Samantha is a journalist who travels through the wormhole to New Atlantis and discovers that embarrassing reality when she meets the People, humanity's more intelligent—and smugly superior—distant relatives. Unfortunately, thanks to humanity’s penchant for fighting, a Human/People conflict is brewing. She could almost forget she's not on Earth, except the People have tails and don't slap idiot warning labels on everything.
Plagued by anti-Human sentiment on New Atlantis and unwilling to return to Earth, Samantha moves to the Five Alpha, the space station closest to the wormhole, where Human—and People—stupidity lurks around every corner. Then the conflict worsens, causing concern for the security of the wormhole—and its closest neighbor. Naturally, politicians from both sides decide they can provide a diplomatic solution by holding peace talks on the station.
When sabotage puts both Five Alpha and her only route back to Earth in jeopardy, everyone blames Samantha—including a manipulative politician with her own agenda—forcing her to fight to uncover who is plotting to destroy the wormhole and cut off Human/People relations for good. Can she find a way to save the wormhole—and her sanity—before it's too late?

Brenda Mohammed (brenchris) | 75 comments Reviewed by Faridah Nassozi for Readers' Favorite International
In Revenge of Zeeka by Brenda Mohammed, the island of Gosh is under attack by an army of zombies under the command of a vengeful science genius. In the year 2016, the Zika virus broke out in Central and South America with life-threatening effects for pregnant women. Given a choice to save the mothers or the unborn babies, a decision was made to save the mothers. The tiny stillborns were securely and secretly buried. Only a few people knew of this. Unknown to everyone, however, a certain scientist managed to get hold of all 51 bodies, bring them back to life, and condition them to follow his command, creating himself a perfect army of zombies. Now, twenty years later, the evil scientist seeks revenge on those he holds responsible for the stillbirths. Only three of the current doctors at Central Hospital - Raynor, Mark, and George - witnessed the unfortunate events of 2016. The three have strong suspicions about who might be controlling the zombies. Meanwhile, Zeeka is lying in wait for the perfect time to unleash his army onto the island. Zeeka has big, evil plans and this is just the beginning. In a desperate search for answers, and with very little to go on, the doctors search for the elusive Master Zeeka. Will they save the islanders from Zeeka and his zombies, or will it be too late?

Revenge of Zeeka by Brenda Mohammed is a one of a kind novella trilogy that delivers an incredible story guaranteed to give readers an absolute sci-fi treat. I especially liked how Brenda used current events as the pivotal point from which to build this amazing sci-fi horror. This made the story even more relatable. More importantly, however, I admired how she owned her story and created this captivating version of events. She captured with amazing depth the setting, characters, plot, and emotions in such few words. If you are looking for a thrilling short read, this fast-paced, sci-fi action novella will give you the time of your life.

Chris Wright (author_chris_g_wright) | 4 comments This is my first book The Alliance (1 of 6) of The Evox Chronicles. It has been a long journey for me and it involved LOTS of coffee, patience (mostly my partner's), research and finding the time to do everything an adult does these days.

Now to the point: The story kicks off during a war between Humans and Sky Tyrants. The latter came with no obvious motives other than to claim Earth (or so it would seem.) Within 2 years, Humanity is nearing the verge of extinction, and in order to survive, they have to agree to "external" help. (I don't want to say too much.)

Humans face their greatest test. It doesn't come down to winning the war; it comes down to evolution. In order to evolve, they must open their minds to the truth of their origins.

In the end, Humans will have to trust their new allies and go along with a plan cloaked in secrecy, which rests on the shoulders of two Humans. The question is: Can they trust two Humans - whose species were programmed to be flawed - to overcome their limits and help defeat the Milky Way's greatest threat?

There's a lot more to this book, folks. But I'd hate to feed you all the spoilers. I would appreciate some honest reviews from you, as they will help me "evolve" as a writer, so I'm more than happy to provide you with a free copy. Let me know your thoughts.

Thank you for your time and best wishes,
Chris G. Wright

J.M. Lanham | 7 comments The R.E.M. Effect

My name is J.M. Lanham, author of the sci-fi thriller, "The R.E.M. Effect."

Synopsis: It’s 2021 and Paul Freeman just landed a job with Asteria Pharmaceuticals, a world leader in revolutionary drug development. Paul knows the company’s future is riding on the success of their latest product – a sleeping pill designed to interact with the human genome to deliver the perfect eight-hour sleep cycle.

Just a few blocks from Asteria’s Atlanta headquarters, troubled self-help guru Donny Ford is selling a different kind of drug, empowering followers to take control of their lives using a sacred meditation technique skeptics believe may have already taken his mind to a dangerous place.

3,000 miles away, war-hardened journalist Claire Connor sits captive in a top-secret facility hidden deep in the Costa Rican jungle, guilty of two offenses: seeking help for a sleep disorder, and asking too many questions.

When these worlds collide, the three will discover just how far some companies are willing to go to protect the bottom line.

Jason Levine (techydad) | 3 comments Hi everyone,

My name is Jason Levine, though I go by TechyDad on Twitter and on my blog. I've been a long-time reader of science fiction and used to write a lot, but stopped for years. I started again when my then-8 year old son announced he was writing a book so I decided to write a short story. That turned into a novel - part one of a trilogy. Defenders of Shadow and Light: Ghost Thief.

Murray Gastev is anything but ordinary. He's a thief for hire and a good one at that. He completes his latest job but ends up with far more than just the cash he expected to receive. He finds he now has the ability to pass through walls and float. There are just two small problems: He can't breathe while he 'ghosts' and he can't control where he floats to. With the help of some new friends, Murray might learn to control his powers and may even pull off his biggest heist yet. If he doesn't end up being sliced to ribbons first.

I've also written a short story (tentatively titled "Bound Unbound") which takes place in the "Ghost Thief" world but is mostly unconnected to Book 1's events. (I might use the character in Book 2, though.)

I'm trying to get the word out for my novel (at the same time as I plot out Book 2), but it's slow going. As a new author, I'm open to whatever tips others can give.

Hi Jason,

Being a new author is a tough venture for sure! When it comes to getting the word out, it's important to remember it's a marathon and not a race. I'm by no means an expert, but I'll share a few tips that have helped me get the ball rolling in the past.

1. Social media - gotta get on it. Set up a Facebook author page, or use your own profile (there are varying opinions on which is best). Twitter is an excellent outlet, too. Best of all it's free. You're already on Goodreads, so that's a great start.

2. Ad campaigns - I think the general consensus here is don't spend a penny on advertising until you have at least 10-15 reviews of your book. I have to agree; I've tried campaigns for pre-orders in the past, and without a developed brand or reviews, it's hard to get savvy customers to bite. Once you get those reviews, hop on Facebook and run a campaign. Make sure to run two ads at a time, changing only a single element between the two. This is called A/B testing, and what you're trying to determine is which ad is most receptive. Let the two ads run, check your numbers, and then dump the underperforming ad. Then, tweak something else. This will be an ongoing venture, as you'll be continually working to improve the performance of your ads. Just wait until you get some solid book reviews to do so.

3. Kindle Direct Publishing offers several incentives to go exclusive with them for 90 days. Now, I will say a lot of people hate the exclusivity that's required, but if you're getting started from scratch, it couldn't hurt to consider trying it for 90 days to take advantage of running a Kindle countdown deal or giving your book away for free (although I've heard the countdown deal is DEFINITELY the way to go here). If you're not already on Smashwords or Apple, it may be worth a try. Plus Kindle Unlimited subscribers can read your book for free, something you could hop on Twitter and tell the world about! Just remember, if you go this route, I THINK (not sure) they auto renew after 90 days, so if you want to make sure you don't inadvertently sign up for another quarter, set a calendar reminder about 80 days out.

You can also consider exchanging reviews with other published authors, joining local book clubs, and telling everyone you come across about your book. One thing I did was to make some small wallet-sized cards with a QR code on it advertising my book. I didn't reveal too much, instead encouraging people to scan the code or visit my website. Just some ideas; it's marketing, so half the time it's hard to gauge what works and what doesn't in the field, but once you get those first few reviews, I think you'll be impressed how targeted online ad campaigns can be.

I hope all this rambling helped a bit. Good luck getting the word out, Jason. Let us know how it goes!

M.D. (kambozep) | 2 comments Greetings everyone,

My name is Matt Kambic. I have just published the 'science thriller' Everest Rising.

Everest Rising

Looks like a long road ahead as far as getting readers to see the book. BUT... at least it is 'out there' in the wide world.

We're all in this amazing place - writers and readers who can access an entire world-sized library and store of original stories. How to stand out and get some sort of traction is the goal, in order to be able to write more.

I'm pondering various methods, from advertising to e-mail list gathering to shop by shop entreaties. But I'm glad to be in the scrum.

If you want to see what I'm up to, visit www.mdkambic.com.

Look forward to checking in here to see how it is going for all of us.

A researcher in exile in Prague dreams about a life as a Roman engineer in Cleopatra's Alexandria when he closes in on an important discovery. Antioch blends hard sci-fi with aspects of quantum physics, alchemy and reincarnation to unite a modern scientist with a teenage Roman engineer. I just added my 2nd edition debut sci-fi on Kindle Unlimited and have 3 reviews. Here is the most recent:

Antioch, by Gregory Ness is a masterful piece of writing. I had the opportunity to read an earlier version of this book published in 2014. I considered it a good book at that reading, but now, having just read the 2016 edition, I rate this book as excellent! Without spoiling this beautifully done story, it takes us back and forth between the present, which is some years ahead of contemporary times, and thousands of years into the past, and then rolls us back and forth in an ever-consuming tale between now and then. The detail and imagery laced into the text about ancient Rome and Egypt, as well as Persia and Turkey, and their cultures and people, animates them, as if the reader is walking the stony streets of Alexandria. There is a beautiful love story which transcends time, depiction of brutal wars and great power struggles between Rome, Egypt and others – and the perspective of how Julius Caesar was, as a man, and a leader, makes the history books seem shallow in design. But what really makes this story shine is the way the author draws us into the world of our memories, of past lives we have lived, and the scientific dialogues and intrigue which are unfolding in the now, and how, all of this ties into the grand story which we are reliving thousands of years before when Pharaohs were the most powerful rulers on Earth, when Caesar and his armies marched into Egypt and when the infamous Cleopatra had the two most powerful nations of that time, in the palm of her hands. Antioch makes you think about the nature of who we really are, about the veracity of having lived countless past lives, about the scientific import of a tiny organ in our brain – a portal which not only allows us to interact with the world around us, but quite possibly, is also the very link to our immensely distant past. An entertaining, gripping, beautifully written and highly insightful piece of work.

To celebrate I'll send free mobi's or pdfs to anyone who emails me at gregory.ness@yahoo.com through December 21 and commits to a rating or review on Amazon and Goodreads.

As the world grows darker, Gant is pulled reluctantly toward a destiny he doesn't want. Good evening! I'm here to nervously throw my hat into the ring with my all new sci-fi action adventure novel, Of Cinder and Bone.

Of Cinder and Bone (Book #1) by Kyoko M.

Here's the blurb:

After centuries of being the most dangerous predators on the planet, dragons were hunted to extinction. That is, until Dr. Rhett “Jack” Jackson and Dr. Kamala Anjali cracked the code to bring them back. Through their research at MIT, they resurrected the first dragon anyone has seen alive since the 15th century. There’s just one problem.

Someone stole it.

Caught between two ruthless yakuza clans who want to clone the dragon, Jack and Kamala brave the dangerous streets of Tokyo to steal their dragon back in a race against time before the world is taken over by mutated, bloodthirsty monsters that will raze it to ashes.

If you're interested, PM me and I'll send you a free eBook copy for review purposes only. Available in all formats on all platforms. Thanks!

R. James | 4 comments Duality (Epsilon #2) by R. James Stevens Brigadier Stroud never asked for anything - he just made it happen. He was born into affluence, but sent away at an early age from his father's shadow to avoid distractions while the latter rose through the ranks of the URA government. Brig set off to prove to everyone, and most especially his overbearing father, that he could become something better than anyone could expect. A hero in the vaunted 81st EW Special Ops Squadron - the Epsilon Warriors - Brig lived precariously by his own set of rules, often shunning orders to 'do the right thing', but not always achieving the desired results.

His efforts fell to the wayside after the Event of 2077. While the rest of the world scrambled to make sense of life after the largest catastrophic disaster in human history, Brig was left alone to fight his own demons - including a malady that he has lived with for 9 agonizing years. With the reluctant help of a former squad-mate, Brig eeks out a dark existence, living moment-to-moment in the desolation brought on by Technology's downfall.

No, Brig never asked for his lot in life, he had it thrust upon him. And now, the forces of Fate have set him upon a road of discovery that will lead him to the secret that was never meant to be known.

"Incredible...I'm not quite sure I've ever read a story written quite like this one."

"This is a thinking man’s book."

And on to the blurb:

Discovery. Salvation. Redemption.

In the year 2077, the world is stricken by an epic natural disaster, sounding the death knell of modern technology. Sent back to the Dark Ages, billions perish in the aftermath. Seven years later, the scattered populace is left to fend for themselves against rogue organizations that seize the opportunity for a power play in a world without power.

Three individuals; three separate paths. All will be irreversibly entwined as they search for the answers in an attempt to reassemble the pieces of their broken lives. But will they find what they seek, or will they stumble upon the devastating truth that lies just beyond their reach?

The Epsilon series explores the events seven years after the catastrophic death of a technological society.
The first installment, Clarity, begins in 2084 and focuses both forward and back on the raw, emotional journeys of former friends and partners. Will they band together to help right wrongs and restore order to the scattered remnants of the populace? Or will their quests for individual fulfillment tear apart an already worn bond?

Courtney Carr (belle_books) | 3 comments Hi!

My name is Courtney Carr and I am an author from Canberra, Australia. My first novel, Cosmic Decay: Contamination, is a science fiction/horror dystopian novel that melds together the popular genres of aliens and zombies.

My blurb is:

The battle for the Earth has only just begun.

The world is dominated by the Mindless - unfortunate humans who hunt the empty streets of cities and towns in a cannibalistic rage.

Only one person knows the truth, and they're not talking - at least, not to the small group of survivors who are all that remain, enduring the harsh reality of the dark and decay. Living life against this horrifying backdrop, the survivors are privy to the arrival of Visitors from another world who covet the Earth and it's natural resources.

When a ship lands near their encampment, the settlement of Earth begins and the group of survivors race to unravel the mystery that connects the Mindless to the Visitors, which will give them their best chance at defending themselves against all odds.

But in the battle to reclaim ownership of an Earth that has already fallen into ruins - is sentience still worth fighting for?

I'm still getting everything up and running with my novel, but it will be available for purchase very soon! I'd be keen to hear what everyone thinks!

Jim Vuksic | 1227 comments Imagine a world in which there is no war, crime, hunger, poverty, inequality, prejudice, bigotry, envy or greed. Everyone, without exception, has access to the exact same quantity and quality of food, clothing, housing, medical care, formal education and social advancement opportunities.

Now imagine that, in this world, the words father, mother, daughter, son, brother, sister, family, marriage, government and religion do not exist because the concepts themselves do not exist. The inhabitants are occasionally transported to a place they never knew existed and required to do things without having the slightest idea of what they are doing or why it must be done.

Can you imagine such a world? Well, I did. If you should choose to visit it someday, I hope that you enjoy reading about the world of Levels as much as I enjoyed creating it.

John (johnmurz) | 10 comments Elthea's Realm by John Murzycki

I have released my debut sci-fi, fantasy and technology thriller, Elthea's Realm.

The setting for the book is the fictional world of Elthea’s Realm. Five friends who have drifted apart after college, are involuntarily brought to this land. Here they are befriended by a race of people called the Astari. These people were once computer software programs on Earth, but they evolved, gaining intelligence and became mortal beings. Their nemesis is an evil race called the Bots, who gained physical form after beginning their existence as destructive computer virus programs. Now the Bots are pursuing the five friends because of their participation in a nearly forgotten college course called The Utopia Project.

I enjoy writing about lands that have just a bit of magic in them so that you know things there are different, but not so unbelievable. In many ways, Elthea’s Realm could be Earth. The story is about how five ordinary people, just like you or me, react when not only they are threatened, but the Earth itself is endangered. What are they feeling and thinking? But mostly, how do they respond.

Chris Wright (author_chris_g_wright) | 4 comments Hi all,

Check out my post-apocalyptic/alien invasion debut novel The Alliance. eBook published November 2016. Paperback published February 2017. Find it on Amazon at: https://www.amazon.com/dp/152049467X, but also available with other retailers.

DESCRIPTION
The Alliance lays the groundwork for a 6-volume science fiction series that takes Humanity on a thrilling journey from dystopia to utopia, from an Earth occupied by other species of the Milky Way to interstellar travel and space colonization, to galactic warfare and head-to-head encounters with the cosmos's greatest threats.

Earth has been invaded and mankind has been pushed towards extinction by the ambitious conquest of an alien civilization, the Rabast, led by the oppressor Vadist.

Help comes with the arrival of an ambiguous ally from the Pleiades star cluster. The last colony of Pleodians have formed an elaborate plan to save Earth, but the Alliance comes at a price... the Humans will have to share their planet. Nearing extinction, do they have a choice?

The Alliance must rely on two Humans who possess alien artifacts of seemingly infinite energy: Ethan Alexander Colt is a resistance fighter expected to make the ultimate sacrifice; the other is the tormented Captain Donovan Ford, who must conquer his ghosts and embrace his destiny as a soldier.

For the plan to work, it requires a collection of War Engines, the Conduits, ancient combat suits used by the infamous Scientists. But Humans were designed with flaws, and Ethan and Donovan are no different. Will they see beyond their own aspirations and fight for the greater good? Or will they threaten the endurance of the Alliance and stability of the cosmos?

Felicity | 3 comments Review of my book by Dianne Goodreads Librarian

Imagine a time in the not so distant future when all of the warnings about global warming and humanity robbing our planet of all it has to give comes true. The Earth has become the enemy to our existence, but science has fought back by creating a better human, part machine, part flesh, able to repel what the elements can do. Imagine the hunt for a new planet to call home, ships sent into space, traveling years from our planet, colonies being established on the moon and even Mars.

What is left of the world is now under one governing body, a body filled with greed, treachery and whose truths lay hidden from the common man’s eyes. Underground communities of rebel spring up, those fighting to survive in the harsh winds and heat.

Two of the most brilliant scientists escape to freedom in an effort to save mankind, but not before becoming public enemy #1. Now on the run with their greatest creation, two cyborg beings, the government will stop at nothing to obtain what they consider the prefect fighting machines, including killing the last hopes for a second chance at life on Earth.

THE BURNING YEARS by Felicity Harley should be a must read as a warning to what looks to be Earth’s future. Track brave heroes as they forge the unknowns of space, knowing they will never return to the Earth. Follow the journey on land of a heroic group of scientists and their first successes with modifying the human body into a faster, stronger, being with the true capabilities to survive the chaotic furnace Earth has become. Are they also the key to near immortality?

I felt I was reading a journal of the events in the future, of those who gave their lives, those who survived and those who made survival possible. Covering decades of time, see the next generations rise, stronger, smarter and still willing to carry on the quest for humanity’s survival.

All I can say is read it, you’ll be glad you did as some very possible scenes unfold as once again, mankind’s own greed and lust for power and eternal youth threaten to bring Earth to its dying breath. I was mesmerized by Felicity Harley’s depiction of the future, based on current scientific data, postulation and the creative genius of an author with some powerful ideas that just seem terrifyingly real.

I received this copy from Felicity Harley in exchange for my honest review.
