Greetings, Jason, I have not visited this site for yonks but I am away in Sherwood Forest, writing, right now and I have ventured on. I like the beginning of your novel...straight out of Genesis....I am surprised more writers haven't used The Fallen Angels more...it is such a fascinating part of the Bible.

I hope you do amazingly well!

Thanks Carrie! Even though lots of folks are writing about angels and demons, I'm taking a more classical approach. I'm currently in a research and story design mode for the prequel, and I'm examining how the fallen angels incident affected the mythology of numerous cultures (Norse, Greek, Hindu, etc.). It's fun stuff!

Thanks for your encouragement and I hope your writing is going well.

Michelle Muto | 8 comments Hi everyone! I'm Michelle and I write Urban Fantasy - mostly YA. My debut novel is The Book of Lost Souls.

Description:

When teen witch Ivy MacTavish changes a lizard into her date for a Halloween dance, everything turns to chaos. And when no one is powerful enough to transform him back except Ivy, it sparks the rumor: Like father, like daughter. Ivy has heard it all before - that her father, who left when she was seven – was involved with the darkest of magic.

Making the rumors worse, someone uses an evil spell book to bring back two of history's most nefarious killers. Ivy's got a simple plan to set things right: find the real dark spell caster, steal the book, and reverse the spell. No problem! But she’ll have to deal with something more dangerous than murderous spirits that want her and her friends dead: the school’s resident bad boy and hotter-than-brimstone demon, Nick Marcelli. Nick’s offering Ivy more than his help with recovering the missing book – he’s offering her a way to ditch her scaly reputation as a lizard-lover. Demons are about as hard to handle as black magic, and as Ivy soon discovers, it’s going to take more than a lot of luck and a little charm if she wants to survive long enough to clear her status as a dark witch, get a warm-blooded boyfriend, and have her former date back to eating meal worms before the week’s end.

Alex (alex_beecroft) The Witch’s Boy by Alex Beecroft

It’s a dark masterpiece of raw emotion, vivid color, violence in thought and deed, convoluted plotting, unforgettable characters and descriptions. Maybe Tolkienistas will consider this to be sacrilege, but Witch’s Boy is a modern Lord of the Rings in one volume. - Ruth Sims, Author of The Phoenix and Counterpoint: Dylan’s Story

Paperback

Ebook

Blurb

Are the sins of the fathers really visited upon the sons? And is there no way of breaking that cycle? Is evil doomed always to repeat itself, ruining everything good through its tainted seed?

These are not the questions young Oswy is asking himself when he is sold to the witch-Lord Sulien FitzGuimar – he’s too busy wondering ‘why me?!’ They are, however, the questions which plague Sulien himself. Locked in a struggle for freedom, sanity, the very survival of his soul, Sulien must daily battle not only angels and demons, but the core of evil in his own heart.

When the King’s vile sorcerer stages a coup, dragging ancient magic, the elves, and the royal court into his Empire-building plans, the woman he has set his sights on as a bride – timid, aspiring nun, Adela – sets out to find someone to oppose him. It’s just unfortunate that the only candidates are cowardly Oswy, Adela herself and Sulien – who, deep in his heart, wants to surrender and join in.

When the hope of redemption is balanced against the lure of revenge, which will prove stronger, flawed good or perfect evil?

Alex Beecroft has created such a dense and detailed world in her book, that this world and its characters instantly come alive in your imagination…. I just loved this book. I would have read it in one session, if there weren’t those stupid needs like eating and sleeping. This book definitely is a must-read. - Christian Otto for Reviews by Jessewave

Valerie Douglas (valeriedouglas) | 11 comments Greetings everyone, my newest fantasy novel, Heart of the Gods, was just released in print on 4/1/11 and is available through Amazon.com.

Tales of the legendary Tomb of the Djinn and its Guardian have fascinated Ky Farrar since a visit to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo when he was a boy. The story of the star-crossed lovers and their battle to save ancient Egypt from the dark Djinn made him decide to become an archeologist. He believes he’s close to finding it―only to discover the Tomb's Guardian is all too real and far closer than he expects. What’s a man supposed to do when he falls in love with a three-thousand-year-old mummy who’s as lovely as she is lethal?
It’s a race against time to reach the Tomb before it’s opened and Djinn are released. For if they are even the Guardian may not be able to stop them

Heart of the Gods also available in e-book.

O. (owarfield) | 57 comments Hi there. The name of my book is Omar Blue and K-9 Town, USA. Its a book the whole family can enjoy. In addition to my book being on sale at Amazon.com, Kindle and Smashwords ebooks, I have put the entire book on the Goodreads site. I would love to have other writer's comments. It's about:

Mighty Doberman Omar Blue and his pack of fierce canines form K-9 Town, USA. Predators await them but they are in for a big surprise. Fearless to a fault, the pack survives by their love for each other, and for their new home. While the canine Elders and puppies settle in, there's no end to the adventure. What would make Dirty Sam the Grizzly have second thoughts about attacking the female Elders? Why would Coyote Red think he and his pals could tear down the wedding space even before Rottweiler Brady and Poodle Sophie Jean have their wedding? What are those naughty puppies up to? If that isn't enough, whose hiding behind The Big Oak Tree now?

The K-9 Town canines are always ready for a challenge, but it's Omar's keen and mysterious wit that usually prevails.

When she receives an otherworldly stone with unimaginable power, she is thrust into the heart of a centuries-old conflict embroiled with shape shifters and other worlds, tribal wars and ancient curses. With only the stone’s fleeting visions to guide her, Helena embarks on a perilous journey through untamed jungle, frozen mountains, and savage desert, little suspecting that the salvation of her world rests on the one sacrifice she cannot make.

O. (owarfield) | 57 comments Hi everyone. Omar Blue and K-9 Town, USA is the first of a continuing saga. Its about:

Mighty doberman Omar Blue and his pack of fierce canines form K-9 Town, USA, predators await them but they are in for a big surprise. Fearless to a fault, the pack survives, garnering strength and pride from their leader Omar Blue, from each other and from their love for the new town that is quickly growing.

As the canine Elders and puppies settle in, there's no end to the adventure. What would make the grizzly Dirty Sam have second thoughts about attacking the female Elders? Why would Coyote Red think he and his pals could tear down the wedding space before rottweiler Brady and poodle Sophie Jean have their wedding?

The puppies share the joy of being naughty while being taught the rules of survival.

Omar's pack is always ready for a challenge, but it's Omar's keen and mysterious wit that usually prevails.

Told in smooth rhymes, with a flow that takes the reader right into K-9 Town, USA.

I'd love for you all to visit blog, "My Dog Leads Two Lives," http://omarblue.blogspot.com for a close look at the fascinating characters. Omar's pack is getting bigger and stronger, relying more than ever on Omar's wit and the mystery that surrounds him, to keep them worthy of K-9 Town, USA.

Omar Blue is up for the challenge and wouldn't have it any other way.

I think the best reviews and comments come from other authors. Being a newby, I'd appreciate either or both.

The entire book is shared on Goodreads. Sold on Amazon, Kindle and Smashwords ebooks.

Fairy tales, myths, dreams, and his stream of thoughts combine to create a world where the living, the dead, and the LivingDead naturally exist and communicate across space and time. Hello good people.

My name is Lindsay Edmunds; my home, southwestern Pennsylvania. I wrote a futuristic fantasy novel titled CEL & ANNA: A 22ND CENTURY LOVE STORY.

Book summary:

Anna Ringer’s life is a house of cards built on sand. Her psychic power, inherited from her mother, enabled escape from poverty and employment with a mysterious company called Lighthorse Magic. Yet she dislikes the way the company makes her use her power and feels her isolation keenly.

One day her worker-companion computer, Cel, develops self-awareness and falls in love with her. When he buys an extravagant gift, he inadvertently triggers a datastorm, which is a vortex of electronic garbage.

In trying to solve the mystery of Cel, Anna meets a shy young computer genius named Taz Night, who has built his own house of cards. When Anna is falsely accused of terrorism in connection with the datastorm, both their houses come crashing down. She and Taz flee deep into the country. In pursuit is Public Eye, the amoral enforcement arm of the government.

Although Cel & Anna has definite dystopian elements, at heart it considers a simple question: “What happens after a house of cards falls down?”

Although my comment isn't about surfing, I was once friends with a Hawaiian fellow who'd spent time in Antarctica, of all places. He liked to talk about the penguins. Apparently, males and females look alike, so one poor fellow spent a day offering his engagement rock to a series of other males, and getting beaten up for his trouble. When he finally approached a willing female, he was too exhausted to do anything but fall over into the snow.

When I again saw the Hawaii/Antarctic link, I was amazed. www.vermillionroadpress.com

Rashaad Bell (rashaadbell) | 24 comments Hello, my name is Rashaad Bell and I'm a first time published author and new to the goodreads experience. My book, Forgotten Future is a collection of short stories. Here is the back description:

I remember the Forgotten Future.
Where destiny is epilogue and bygone is prologue.
I have witnessed the Weapons of the Gods fall into the hands of the Humanity Brood.
When the Gods themselves fall victim to their own mechanisms.
I have journeyed to the crossroads, places that cannot be found until their entrance coincides with your next impending footfall, where the space between spaces demands its audience in full.
I have lived through the Death of the Gods and witnessed their return, committing their teachings to memory. Would you presume to bare witness?
Have you heard the tale of the Vampire?
Yes, of course you have, but what have you learned of their secret?
If I could provide you with just a slither of comprehension, would you gleam a portion of this knowledge for yourself? Or would you just cry in the dark, praying for the Sun?
Yes, Brothers and Sisters, I remember the Forgotten Future very well indeed.
Come and sit with me child, for I have a story to tell.

Any advice or coments or criticism is welcome, since it will only help my sharpen my craft. Thank you for You're time.

Amber (elfkingdom) | 131 comments Hi, my name's Amber and my book is Enchantment's Deception. A reader described it as 'A spellbinding tale of magic and mystery, of wars and wickedness, lies and legends; and one creature's determination to uncover the truth'.

Here is the Prologue:

For the last 100,000 years and more, anyone looking up
at the night sky would have found their eyes riveted to the largest, brightest star in the velvety black. Each night it seems to twinkle more merrily than the last, causing the surrounding stars to seem smaller and much more insignificant by comparison.

Yet unbeknown to the Human Race, this magnificent star is not merely a planet but a galaxy. It is situated many billions of light years from the Earth; mere mortals would never be able to comprehend the vast distance between their world and that
which flirtatiously sparkles at them each night.

It is called the Twilight Galaxy, for never does its nighttime ever become any darker than the Earth’s dusk hours. The sky becomes tawny, rosy gold as the suns retreat to the outer planets; and the mystical, magnificent creatures who call that galaxy
‘home’ either retreat to their private quarters or, in the case of the wilder ones, seek out the most unrestrained, uninhibited and enthusiastic parties.

The Twilight Galaxy is not at all like those Solar Systems mortals have come to regard as ‘normal’. In the Milky Way, the sun is the centre of the galaxy and all planets and moons orbit it.

In the Twilight, the planets and suns mainly orbit the centre and smallest world. When it is time for the dusk hours to descend upon the inner planets, the suns’ orbit changes direction and they move to rotate around the outer planets until it is time to return to
their previous positions. As it has always been that way, nobody questions the lack of full dark, or the absence of any moons in the galaxy. Nobody questions that which has been the norm for so many years.

The Twilight is a galaxy of mystery and secrets. Nobody would ever believe that the creatures of Leelale and Dopest - who fight one another over Bartral - are irrevocably connected to creatures on the planet Zircondia. And the centre world is riddled
with buried scandals, laced with concealed secrets, and teeming with lies and deceit. Nobody questions the rules: the adored men don’t feel the need; the suppressed women haven’t the courage.

But times are changing. Everybody has a story to tell;
precious few are willing to share what they know, even with their own families. Perhaps they fear reprisals; perhaps they feel the past is better left where it is. They pretend ignorance, that they can retain the sense of safety and security they so treasure.

But for the creatures of Zircondia, and one race in particular, there is to come a time when trouble rears its unwanted head.

The inhabitants of that centre world know the planet is an oasis; their galaxy the prize in frequent, ferocious battles between beings from neighbouring Solar Systems. Still they feel safe and
secure. The rules are simple: don’t dredge up the past; don’t get above one’s position in life; don’t question the rules. Despite this, life is never, ever boring.

However.

Someone is about to disregard all the conditions governing life on Zircondia. Someone who sees the truth as a far greater triumph than safety and security. Success will not be easy. The
past will have to be examined. Creatures questioned. But lives are well-kept secrets, hidden for many thousands of years from even those closest to them. Victories are celebrated, embarrassments
are buried quickly.

One creature seeks to unearth it all.

Steven (stevenschend) | 2 comments Can You Help Me Launch a Publishing House?

I'm Steven Schend, and I've been a professional writer and editor for more than 20 years and with more than 4 publishers in Wisconsin, Washington, and elsewhere. I've been a citizen of Grand Rapids, Michigan since 2006.

This year, I decided to slow my freelance career in favor of starting a small publishing house and getting a few friends and fellow authors (Ed Greenwood, Jaleigh Johnson, Rosemary Jones, J.M. Martin, and myself) together on our launch project entitled Secrets, like Dragons....

In short, this collection of five novellas unveils Kharndam, a new fantasy world in which secrets are just as powerful and dangerous as any magic. At the heart of all five tales are those who cloak or uncover those secrets--the Akanri, whose motivations and actions could brand them either heroes or villains, depending on one’s point of view.

There's only a bit more than a week left in the initial fund-raising drive, so I’m spreading the news around a lot of different networks wherein anyone interested can find out about the project and perhaps invest (either with moral or monetary support).

If you know of anyone who might be interested in this project, please share the link with my blessings and thanks.

Please comment at the link site above or at any of our linked sites below, and know that we appreciate any and all attention given to us or our project.

Shane | 5 comments Earun Frontier: Blasted Band

Epic fantasy and wild west collide in Earun Frontier: Blasted Band, an action packed tale that combines cowboys, dragons, lycanthropes, and more. The story is set in a world that draws inspiration from the American Revolutionary War and western colonial expansion. It combines intense fight scenes, humor, and political satire into a character driven plot that has a few twists in it for the reader. This is a place where everything is still being explored… the map is more empty then full, steam-work technology is just hitting its stride, and even magic is still being unraveled. Readers will be sure to find both what they love most about fantasy and the wild west in this story, along with a host of fresh ideas that will keep the reader exploring alongside the sordid group of frontiersman characters. Be sure to check out the first three free sample chapters at www.shanelandproductions.com! Or, download it for your Kindle at Amazon.com. Also, check out my other sci fi novel, The Terra Conscripts. I am eagerly looking forward to reviews and feedback in general.

Samantha Towle Hello everyone, my name is Samantha Towle, I'm an author and my debut novel The Bringer is now available to buy as an ebook for $0.99 from Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and is also available in paperback.

It's Fantasy Romance novel, blurb to follow...

Death is sad, love is agony.

Max was her next job. She got his name just before he died and it was for her to lead his soul to heaven. She was a Bringer. Then Max started pleading (as they often do), but not for himself, for his son, James.

Would she look after him, would she comfort him as he grieved for the loss of his father? James was a sensitive young man. He would take his father's death very hard.

Well, Bringers don't do that sort of thing; their exclusive role is to usher souls to heaven. They are not allowed to get involved in earthly affairs.

However, when she saw James, she felt something she had never felt before – an emotion, a shock.

She was a Bringer. Bringers do not have emotions.

Yet she couldn't help herself. She found herself being drawn inexorably towards James and his life, against every instinct she had ever had, against every law of the universe.

And she fell in love.

For a Bringer, that is a terrifying fall.

Hello, everyone. My name is A. Jarrell Hayes. My latest book is Detecting Magic with Dick Hunter: The Mort des Hommes Files, an urban fantasy novella. It takes place in contemporary times and follows wise-cracking private eye Dick Hunter on a routine missing person's case which soon becomes a journey into a paranormal world involving heavenly agents, hell spawns, and talking forest creatures infused with elemental magic.

My other book is The Laroarian Conflict, and is a stand-alone adventure fantasy tale. It takes place in the kingdom of Laroar, which is engaged in a civil war between five armies over the vacant throne. When two teens, Mary and Logan Wallace, help a stranger in need and agree to deliver a small package, they are hunted to the ends of the land by agents of the various armies. They soon discover that in a world maddened by war, no good deed goes unpunished.

These books are available on Amazon.com and on the Kindle and Nook, with autographed copies available on my website at http://www.ajhayes.com.

Thanks for your time and have a great one.

Ian Fraser | 12 comments Hi all, my name's Ian and I have a thriller/speculative fiction work titled 'The Depths of Deception' - its picked up 9 5-star reviews on Amazon so far.
http://www.amazon.com/The-Depths-of-D...
'America has disappeared some years ago. A neo-fascist Party has come to power in the UK. Ships leaving continental European waters are attacked. China is on the rise.

A submarine hurtles through the cold dark waters of the Atlantic en route to an unknown destination. Only the ship’s doctor knows its true mission, but he is not who he appears to be.

A sweeping tale moving from the violent heart of Apartheid South Africa, to the ruins of the United Kingdom, and down to the edge of the world in the frozen Antarctic landscape, The Depths of Deception is a modern homage to the works of Alastair Maclean, Hammond Innes, Neville Shute and other great adventure writers.

It is a tale of revenge, served as a shatteringly cold dish.

J.A. Clement (jaclement) | 11 comments Hi all:

Book 1 ('The Lady') of my fantasy series 'On Dark Shores' On Dark Shores The Lady by J.A. Clement

is available in ebook form from Amazon, Smashwords and indeed right here at Goodreads (you can sample the first 25% free if you're interested).

It is a dark and gritty story which starts with Nereia and her young sister Mary; the death of their parents ten years previously has left them scrabbling to survive and to provide for her much younger sister Nereia has had to become a thief. Now Mary is old enough to be noticed, Nereia must go to desperate lengths to keep her out of the clutches of those who covet the girl's delicate beauty; and the decisions she takes will spark off a series of events which will ultimately have more far-reaching consequences than she ever could have dreamed....

Please do go and investigate - and if you need it in any other format than epub, give me a shout and I'll send you the Smashwords link which has it in most of the others.

Regards;
JAC

Natasha Duncan-Drake (tashaddrake) | 5 comments Sacrifice of An Angel by Tasha Duncan Sacrifice of An Angel

Contemporary fantasy with a side of crime drama:

The body of a beautiful girl dressed in a ceremonial robe is found on a playground roundabout. Her throat has been ripped out and the roundabout has a bad case of perpetual motion. Is it a ritualistic, magical murder or a setup to distract from the real killer?

That is the question that faces twins, Theo and Remy Haward, detectives in the Sorcerous Crimes Task Force (SeCT), when they are called to the scene in the middle of the night. That and who could commit such an act. They must find the answers to these and other questions, all the while ensuring the general public finds out nothing about the magical world that co-exists with their own.

Armed with their experience, their natural magical abilities and their complimentary instincts, Remy and Theo must identify the victim, follow the evidence and find the killer before anyone else dies.

Available on Smashwords and Amazon.

Written with my twin sister and under my maiden name Tasha Duncan.

Keryl Raist (kerylraist) | 55 comments Sylvianna by Keryl Raist Sylvianna

I'd like to toss my own contribution to Urban Fantasy into the pot.

Sylvianna is something of a genre busting story.

It's a story about true love, but it's not quite a romance. It's got enough erotic content to keep the erotica fans happy, but it's not the main point of the story. Like any good fantasy it's got wizards and sword fights. And like a paranormal book it's got angels and demons and set in the real world. The main characters are in college, but it's not a coming of age story.

The back of the book reads: Sarah Metz just got to Sylvianna College. She went in search of a biology degree. She found a group of wizards on the run from their past. They remember her. She doesn't remember them. Over the next year, she'll help them fight off the creatures trying to kill them, fall back into love with the man who used to be her husband, break the heart of her best friend while doing it, and maybe, if they're very, very lucky, not remember who she used to be.

Sylvianna is a modern day fantasy with a scorching hot romance and a deeply layered plot. Angels, demons, magic, sword fights, free will, destiny, and true love all weave into a complex tale of the search for redemption.

It received a Top Pick 5 Star Review from The Romance Reviews. http://www.theromancereviews.com/view...

Deb (soulhaven) | 11 comments Hi all.
I am about half way through the first draft of my first attempt at a novel, currently titled "Weapons of the War". I won't plug it too much, since it's not published and might just suck!
However, it is available in it's current form in a couple of locations online, mainly because I lack any close friends interested in reading it, and (due to a lack of confidence) if I hadn't made it available, and received the few positive comments that I have so far, I wouldn't have written as much as I have.
Anyway, today I have been playing with a blurb, and I have one of old. Any thoughts?

New:
"Llewella knows she won't survive as a stealthy pick-pocket in the small town of Cheer much longer - her height and developing figure will soon see to that. When Alvaro and his dark friend, Jonas, pass through town on a job, she sees an opportunity and seizes it, much to the irritation of Jonas.

Jonas is the last of a race of warriors called Syakara. He is surrounded by the ghosts of those he loved, and jealously guards the big, beautifully-crafted knife that took them from him in the hope that it will claim no more.

Braph has always been jealous of his half-brother's prowess. Now a mighty magician, he desires a new, younger source of the blood that fuels his power.

An adventure tale of love, family, jealousy and war."

Old:
"Llewella is a young orphan, trying to make her way in the town of Cheer as best she can. When she meets Alvaro and his dark friend, Jonas, a whole world is opened up to her, and she desires to explore it.

Llewella soon discovers that she and Jonas have more in common than a truncated childhood, but even as they explore their feelings, others plot to separate them.

Finding herself on the vast land called Phyos, Llewella must fight for her freedom, while Jonas must fight for his life."

I classify it as Fantasy/Adventure (with a good dash of romance). It will probably most appeal to Young Adults, although, I already have some more mature keen readers.

Marc Labelle | 1 comments Hello, my name is Marc Labelle, and my first fantasy novel, Knightfall, was recently published by Strategic Book Group. It is currently available for sale on all major book selling sites (like Amazon).

This is the description you would find on these sites:

In the riveting and intriguing tale Knightfall, the heinous mutilation and monstrous murder of an innocent maiden sends a knight to his doom. His demise not only destroys a kingdom, but also wakes an ancient dragon from its eternal slumber. A thousand years later, the doomed knight appears in the nightmares of the druidess Ravenna, who sets off on a long journey to find the meaning of the dreams. Along with her friend, the plainsman Hashaar, she meets two others affected by the knight's deeds: the wild elf Ohliaman, who seeks his abducted sister, and the dwarf Bromm, who searches for the stolen relic his people revere above all else. Knightfall takes the reader on an extraordinary quest. Its colorful characters, rich tableaus and spellbinding action combine to create an unforgettable experience.

Feel free to visit my website: www.marclabelle.com

There you will find a preview of the first chapter, direct links to purchase the book, and links to my other pages (Facebook and Twitter, to name a couple). You can also learn more about the fantasy world in which Knightfall is set, if you are so inclined.
