Shadow lashed out, hitting whatever she could. She felt one of their arms break as she hit it.

He span around and hit them with his legs, making them fall
Shadow took a step back, seeing that they were all in different positions groaning on the floor. She looked up at Dex. "You're actually not to bad at this," she said to him.
Dex gave her a small smile "You need to survive in the forest, one way or another"
"I guess you're right. Here, let's get these guys tied up and come up with something to do about them." She got out some ropes.
He nodded and helped her tie them up "What are we going to do with them?"
"I'm not sure," Shadow said. "We can't just let them go."
"Right" Dex said "And now that they know you're living here, we'll have to move"
Shadow nodded. "I shouldn't have been so stupid. I wasn't watching close enough when we got back into town. Nobody's ever found where I lived before."
"Really? That's incredible" Dex said "How long have you been living here?"
"Several years," shadow said vaguely. She looked out the window.
Shadow shrugged. She went back over to the thugs, one of whom was starting to wake up.
Dex looked around "so why did they attack you?"
"I pissed off their boss, apparently." She said. "Which one do you work for?" She addressed one of the thugs.
Dex sighed "Apparently a reporter is a dangerous job"
"Yeah... About that. I wasn't really honest about what I do," shadow said. She got a bag and began to load some things in it.
Dex raised his eyebrow "Then what is you job?" he asked
"I don't really know what you'd call it," She replied. "I... acquire things, I guess."
"What kind of things?" he asked "you're not a thief right?"
"Not in the general sense of the word, no. You see, people pay me, and I get them things. Sometimes that involves taking them from other people." Shadow wasn't sure why she was telling him this.
"So basically you're a thief for rent" Dex said "I don't tent to judge people, but this job doesn't sound that great to me"
"Well, last time I checked, I didn't ask for your opinion." Shadow snapped. She turned her back on him and went into her room to pack up some more stuff.
Dex shrugged "Neither did I" he looked around
Shadow took a deep breath and sat down on the bed for a second, trying to calm down her anger. Finally she came out with the bag packed. "So, I'm gonna find somewhere else to stay. You can come if you want." She said coldly.
Dex nodded "I'll come". He noted himself to never make her angry, by any mean.
Shadow gave a jerk of her head over to the thugs. "We'll just leave them here," she said. She opened the door.
"I don't know where the hell we're supposed to find a new place," Shadow muttered. "I shouldn't have been so careless." It wasn't said to anybody in particular. She turned down a side street.
"How about the professor's old house? It's faraway from people and empty" Dex suggested
"How do you get there?" Shadow didn't look at him as she responded.
"It's in the middle of the forest near a lake. I remember the way" Dex said
Shadow stepped aside to let him get in front. "Lead the way, then."
Dex nodded and leaded the way to the old professor's house.
On the way, Shadow was able to cool herself down a little bit, to where she was't so angry.
Soon they reached it "here we are" he smiled "it sure brings back memories"
"So this is where you were born- or created?" Shadow tried to be more civil to show him she was sorry. There was no way she was actually apologizing.
Dex nodded "yeah. I have to warn you that the whole place inside is a laboratory, and who knows what's in there since I left the place"
Shadow nodded. As long as there wasn't anything else spider-related. She'd gotten used to Dex and Raem, but...
Dex went to the entrance and opened the door. It was completely dark inside, but he managed to find the window and open it up.
Just to be safe, Shadow took out her knife again. She cautiously followed him inside.
The whole place was filled with old machines, and smelled of rust.
"It definitely seems abandoned," Shadow said.
Dex nodded "and I don't see any other living creatures here"
"So, I'm gonna set up some alarms, then." Shadow said.
She opened one of the bags and began rigging up some wires around the door.
After rigging up the alarm there, Shadow went to the windows.
