At his words Shadow froze. She hadn't ever let anyone see where she lived. But slowly she nodded. "Yeah... That'll be fine."
"Thanks" he hugged her "you don't know how much I appreciate that"
"Yeah, no, it's no problem. You don't mind the city, do you?" She replied.
"Okay. Well, it's just this way." She turned to walk. "Oh. Um, you know, a lot of the people might get a little, well, scared. So I'll take you the back way?"
He nodded "sure. You're the expert here"
Shadow gave him a small smile before turning and leading the way again.
By nightfall they'd reached the city. Shadow finally felt at home again. The forest was nice, but she belonged amidst the tall buildings and sounds of traffic.
Finally they reached the place Shadow called home. It wasn't much, but she had it rigged up with so much security that it was the safest place in the world. She started to enter her passcode to get in the door.
He looked at her "what's with all the passwords?"
shit shadow forgot she hadn't told them about what she did. "It's for work," she replied vaguely.
"Oh" he said "and what is your work, exactly?"
"I'm a reporter." It was a blatant lie, she knew. But she couldn't tell him the truth. ((So I just had a cool idea))
"I'm not sure what a reporter do exactly, but it seems to be really interesting'((What is it?))
((So maybe like an old enemy, maybe even the people who beat her up before, find out she's back in town and come to pay her a visit... Some things happen and like a fight or something ends up happening? Idk lol))Shadow chuckled. "That's one way to put it, I guess." She entered the last password and the door swung open. "Well, here you have it. Home sweet home."
((Sounds great!))He walked inside slowly "whoa"
Shadow followed him. "Don't know what's to say woah about." She didn't realize how much of a mess she'd left the place in. Hell, there were still dirty dishes in the sink.
He chuckled "it's my first time in a person's house, so there are enough reasons to whoa"
"Oh, right." Shadow said. "Anyway, there's the couch and the bed. You can have the bed if you want."
"Thanks" he smiled "are you sure you don't mind me staying here?"
"No, you're fine," Shadow said. "Just, wait right here a second." She went into the bedroom and straightened out the sheets, grabbing a few articles of clothing off the floor. She cave out again.
He was meanwhile looking around at the apartment
"Yeah, so it's ready, you can go to bed any time you like. Do you want anything to eat?" Shadow said.
Shadow gave him a small smile. "Okay. I'll see what sill in here that hasn't gone bad." She ended up finding a box of cereal, but no milk. She purrs then each a bowl anyway.
Dex looked at the cereal "what is it?" He asked "some kind of roasted corn?"
"Well," shadow turned over the box to read the ingredients. "Something like that, yeah." She finally said. "It's supposed to have milk."
He shrugged and ate it "it's actually pretty good" he smiled
Shadow smiled back at him but quickly looked away. She'd only taken a few bites but suddenly she realized she'd lost her appetite. She pushed it away. "Anyway, yeah, I'm gonna head on to bed. Goodnight."
He nodded "yeah alright" he finished his cereal and also went to bed
It was probably around 1:00 in the morning when Shadow woke up to a pounding on the door.
Dex didn't hear the pounding. He was fast asleep.
Shadow got out from under the covers and grabbed her nearest weapon: a pistol. She went to the door and looked out the peephole. It was her landlord. Shadow groaned and opened the door.
Shadow should have known it was a trap. As soon as she opened the door the landlord was thrown to the side to reveal three mean looking thugs. The ousted in before Shadow could do anything.

((Sorry I accidentally double posted))One of the thugs wrestled shadow's gun from her hand and the other two pinned her arms behind her back. This seemed ironically familiar.
"What do you want this time?" She asked them.
Dex stood up and walked out of the room "are yo-" he froze as he saw the three people what's going on?
"Stay back, Dex," shadow said to him. One of the thugs punched her in the stomach. "The boss want too happy to see you coming around again," he said.
"Stay back? Are you crazy? I don't want them to beat you up?!"
"Well, you can tell the boss to go fuck himself," shadow taunted. "I've got this, really." She said to Dex, but the last part was cut off as she had the breath knocked out of her again.
"That's it!" He run forward and kicked one of the guys in the stomach
Shadow used his their distraction as they saw a half human half spider emerge to twist free and grab a knife. ((You can rp one or two of the thugs if you want))
