Voting is CLOSED.
Vote here: https://goo.gl/forms/joASo8yDfm9oGvDm2
Live results and book links: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

For the past few years we've gone through a process of voting for and scheduling past reads from the group bookshelf and reading them as a side group. This is intended to work in conjunction with the group Read All the Books! challenge. It is not necessary to join the challenge to participate in this process.

We'll be voting and scheduling for three months at a time. We'll be scheduling two reads per month based on member votes.

1. Voting will take place in
-> November for January-March
-> February for April-June
-> May for July-September
-> August for October-December

2. Schedule will be posted after a consensus has been reached.

3. Books that have been read by the group (main or reread) in the 24 months prior to the scheduled period will not be eligible, and will not be listed on the form.

The only thing you'll need is a gmail login. You'll be able to change and update your votes at any point during the voting process. Books will be listed as title, author, page count.

For all books on the group shelf, see the links at the bottom of Current Events.

CBRetriever | 6235 comments there are only two in the list in message 4 that I haven't : War of the Worlds and The Memory Police. And for War of the Worlds I have this version: The Complete War of the Worlds which means three books for me

I'm happy to add those to my vote, CBRetriever. I haven't read either of them.

no, don't bother voting for The Memory Police - I'm not going to buy it just to read it, but I'll be glad of the vote for War of the Worlds

message 7: by DivaDiane (new)

DivaDiane SM | 3701 comments I forgot I have The Memory Police on my Kindle, so I added that and War of the Worlds to my vote. Ready Player One is also at the top, which is the only other book I’m interested in/already own.

message 8: by HeyT (new)

HeyT | 510 comments I didn't think it could be possible but i think I've actually read everything on the list above. It makes me feel like my goal of reading all the books on the shelf might actually be possible lol. (Currently at 310 read.)

What book not on the list do you want us to up-vote?

message 10: by Cleo (last edited Nov 09, 2025 04:38AM) (new)

Cleo Pau | 14 comments I am in an Asimov re-read frenzy, so that is what I will vote. :D

The Complete Robot is missing from the offer, as well as any in the robots and foundation series following Caves of Steel and Foundation. I would not mind to read them with other people who would choose them.

Last year it was Ursula and she was great on so many levels.

message 11: by CBRetriever (new)

CBRetriever | 6235 comments Oryx & Crake
and
Lock In

are both on my TBR pile

message 13: by Kaia (new)

Kaia | 721 comments Lock In is on my TBR list, too. I also voted for Caves of Steel, since I have not read much Asimov, and I would love to re-read The Master and Margarita, which I first read a very long time ago.

message 14: by DivaDiane (new)

DivaDiane SM | 3701 comments If a book is not on offer in this poll it could mean one of two things:

1. The book club has never read it as an official group read.

2. It was “reread” recently. I forget how long they get left off the list.

message 15: by CBRetriever (new)

CBRetriever | 6235 comments I think it's two years but I could be wrong

message 16: by Melanie, the neutral party (new)

Melanie | 1713 comments Mod
2 years is correct. The last 2 years of rereads and BOTM selections are excluded.

How are we feeling about this list?

There is a tie that needs to be broken for the final spots.

What book should we rally to upvote into the final slot?

NOT Foundation, lol
I already counted both instances where a woman is allowed to speak.

message 23: by DivaDiane (new)

DivaDiane SM | 3701 comments But also, LOTR is actually fun to read (aloud), whereas Foundation is just tedious.

Ines (imaginary_space) | 431 comments Mod
I already voted for both other books, lol

message 25: by Shawnie (last edited Nov 21, 2025 10:13AM) (new)

Shawnie | 117 comments My first choice was Old Man's War. Second choice for upvote is Leviathan Wakes. Please no Foundation. lol I'm also looking forward to Nettle & Bone!
