20.1 - Most Improved – Erica H’s Task: Organized Procrastinator
Help Thread
I am an admitted geek. I’ve always been drawn to organizational things like planning calendars and charts for tasks to mark my progress. So when Index, A History of the: A Bookish Adventure from Medieval Manuscripts to the Digital Age came out I knew I’d have to read it – a history of geeky organization. Perfect! At the same time, I am a horrible procrastinator. My primary hobbies are knitting and cross-stitching. I have well over 25 WIP’s (works in progress). It’s gotten so bad that I’ve declared a new syndrome: Project Finish Resistance - the state when you’re close to finishing a project but rather than do THAT, you start a NEW project!. Logical, right?
Pick an option and read one book for that option.
Required: State which option you choose.
Option 1: Read a book with the word INDEX intact in the title or series name (can be part of a larger word like indexing, indexed).
Option 2: Read a book with a word of 5 or more letters in the title spelled from PROJECT FINISH RESISTANCE. Letters may be used only as often as they appear.
20.2 Rookie at the Top: Coffeegirl's Task - Favorite things about Books
Help Thread
As I have gotten older, I have grown to love all things about books: collecting them, reading and/or listening to them. Below are a few of my favorite ways to enjoy all things books.
Choose and option and read 1 book.
Required: state the option.
Option 1 – Book club
I've been an avid reader for many years, and one of the aspects I cherish most is sharing and discussing books with fellow readers. Recently, my friends and I decided to start our own book club. It's been a wonderful way to explore books I might not have chosen on my own, engage in thoughtful conversations, and enjoy each other's company.
-Read a book by a single author where all the author's initials can be found in BOOK CLUB. Letters may be used as often as they appear.
Option 2 - Celebrate
The summer season ushers in a delightful array of celebrations. Between friends and family, I'll be celebrating over 10 birthdays this summer, including mine :) Each gathering offers a unique opportunity to create memories, whether it's through themed parties, outdoor adventures, or intimate get-togethers. I'm looking forward to embracing the warmth of the season and the joy of celebrating with loved ones. One of my favorite ways to celebrate birthdays is by gifting a book. Selecting the perfect title for each person is a rewarding experience, as it allows me to tailor my choice to their unique interests and personalities
-Read a book with a word of at least four letters in the title/subtitle spelled from the phrase BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS. Letters may be used only as often as they appear in the phrase.
Required: State the word.
Option 3 – But can I watch it?
One of my favorite authors is Karin Slaughter, renowned for her gripping mystery novels. She introduced readers to Special Agent Will Trent, a compelling character whose complex background and unique investigative approach captivated audiences. The success of the book series led to its adaptation into a television series, also titled Will Trent.
I have a particular fondness for books that have been adapted into films or series, as it offers a unique opportunity to witness the author's vision come to life on screen. It's fascinating to see how characters and scenes are interpreted visually, and it often adds a new dimension to the story.
-Read a book which has been made into a TV series, movie series or single movie. The film or series must already have been released for viewing. It can be a single book or from a series, if the book is from a series, that specific book does not have to have been released for viewing.
Examples:
Book Dust by Hugh Howey from the book Silo Series; TV Series Silo. (The book is the 3rd in the series, but only 2 seasons of Silo have been released which is only 2/3 of the 1st book)
Book: This Is Why We Lied by Karin Slaughter, book series Will Tent; TV Series Will Trent
Book; Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens standalone Movie: Where the Crawdads sing.
Here is a link to a reference, but not required to be from this list Books Made into Movies or TV Shows
Required: State the Book Series (if applicable), State the TV Series, Movie Series or Standalone Movie.

June is known in the US as Pride Month, a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and a time to recognize the rights that the community has fought for, and continues to fight for. This is a one book task. Choose from one of the following options
Required: State the option
Option 1
All the colors of the rainbow: The original Pride flag was designed in 1978 and had eight solid stripes of different colors: hot pink, red, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, indigo, and violet. Read a book with a title or subtitle that contains a 4+ letter word made from one of two phrases: STONEWALL UPRISING or PRIDE PARADE.
Required: State the word and phrase used
Option 3
Embrace diverse stories: My own coming out was inspired by the bravery of other LGBTQ+ folks who wrote and published their stories, including Glennon Doyle, Samantha Irby, Carmen Maria Machado, Megan Rapinoe, and Molly Wizenberg. Their first-person accounts helped me understand myself, embrace my identity, and begin sharing it proudly. In the words of writer Marian Wright Edelman, “You can’t be what you can’t see.”
Read a book with both MPG Memoir or Autobiography, AND MPG LGBT.
The LGBTQ+ Memoirs list may be a helpful starting point, though you should double check to confirm MPGs, and you are not required to choose a book from it.

Option 1- SERENDIPITY
This trip came together unexpectedly. The timing of several different factors all worked together so well that I started thinking the universe was sending me a message I couldn't pass up.
Read a book with one of the following words in the title, subtitle, or series name: Serendipity, Blessing, Fluke, Godsend, Windfall, Fortune, Fortunate, Luck, Lucky, Break, Chance, Coincidence, Opportunity. Plurals and possessives are allowed. No other variations will be accepted.
Option 2- HOLIDAY
After reading countless books set in London, walking around the city at times felt like meeting an old friend.
Read a book where the main character takes a trip to a country other than the one they live in. This must be a trip, vacation, or holiday - not a move, indefinite stay, resettlement, or military posting. If they are returning to visit a country they previously lived in, they must leave again by the end of the book.
Required: Please provide a reference if the Goodreads Main Page does not reference the trip.
Option 3- PLAY
The main purpose of my trip was to see my favorite actor on the stage. I ended up making it a theatre trip and seeing four plays while I was in London.
Read a play. All SRC rules apply, including page length.
Option 4- FRIENDS
I met up with a friend while I was there and he generously spent a day with me at one of his favorite spots: Kew Gardens.
Read a book with all of the letters KEW in the author's name. The letters can be in any order and found anywhere in the author’s name as it appears on the cover, including middle names and initials. If the book has multiple authors, all letters must be found in one name, not a combination of the names.
Option 5- JANE AUSTEN
I did spend a day away from London. I trekked to Chawton, England to visit Jane Austen's house. This year is the 250th anniversary of her birth and the house (now a museum) is celebrating all year long.
Read a book with an MPG of Historical, Romance, or Historical Romance. MPGs must be stand-alone, not embedded.
20.5 Bigger is Better: Kathy KS's Task - Light Up My World, Scarlett!

My first great grandchild turns one-year-old this summer. She’s the first child, first grandchild on both sides, and our first great, so she lights up the world for a large number of people! Eligible Children’s books (and related MPGs) OR graphic novels/comics may be used.
Choose one option and read one book for that option.
Required: State the option.
Option 1 - Read a book that contains red on the cover, according to Tineye. It doesn’t matter how much, just some. A guide to using Tineye can be found here.
Required: Post the cover.
Option 2 - Read a book with one of these standalone words in the title/subtitle or author’s name: scarlett, scarlet, red, crimson. Only these spellings count.
Option 3 - Read a book with an author born or living in one of these states or country where the extended family resides: California, Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina, Germany.
Required: Provide a reference if the location is not evident in the author’s GR listing
Option 4 - Scarlett’s Mommy and some of her Daddy’s cousins are avid readers. Celebrate their favorite genres by reading a book with one of these MPGs (main page genres): Suspense: standalone or embedded, Thriller(s): standalone, or Fantasy: standalone.
20.6 It's a Fact: Kristen IA's Task - Let’s Go to the Park!
Help Thread
For my family some of the best things about summer are baseball, being outside, and going on vacation! We have a goal to visit all 30 of the Major League Baseball (MLB) Stadiums, and would like to see as many of the 63 US National Parks as we can. Since we live in a state with no MLB teams and no National Parks, we have taken many vacations to enjoy both kinds of parks over the years. This task will revisit some of these adventures! Since one part of the joy of going to these parks is seeing the sights, your book may have the MPG Graphic Novels, Comics, or Manga.
This is a one book task.
Required: State the option you chose.
Option 1: Through the Years - Since my husband and I married in 2006, we have visited a national park or MLB ballpark in these years: 2008, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
-Read a book that was first published in one of these years.
Option 2: Feeling a “Little” Old - We’ve visited the two oldest MLB ballparks (Fenway and Wrigley) and the smallest national park (Gateway Arch).
-For this option, read a book that has an MPG of History or Historical (standalone or embedded) AND is a smaller book, with 100-250 pages.
Option 3: Where Did You Go? - We’ve been to nine national parks in eight different states and six different ballparks in four different states. Two states are in both categories so there are a total of 10 states visited. For this option, you can choose A or B:
A) Read a book set in one of these 10 states: Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, South Dakota, Tennessee, or Wyoming
OR
B) Read a book by an author whose FIRST initial matches a letter in one of our visited national park state’s two letter abbreviations: AR, AZ, CO, IN, SD, TN, or WY AND whose LAST initial matches a letter in one of our visited ballpark state’s two letter abbreviations: CO, IL, MA, or MO.
Authors examples that work: Charlotte McConaghy, Sarah Addison Allen, Christina Lauren, Costanza Casati, Steve Cavanagh
These DON’T: Maggie Shipstead, Rebecca Yarros, Chris Whitaker
If more than one author, only one author’s initials need to meet the requirement.
Option 4: Let’s Thrive in ‘25! - There has been a lot of uncertainty in 2025, both in our world and closer to home, but I’m committed to trying to enjoy life even when things are hard. Choose from A or B:
A) We traveled west over Spring Break and visited Grand Canyon National Park for the first time. We took the opportunity to visit it at sunrise and it was spectacular! Aside from the beautiful views, it was wonderful to learn more about the rich history of the indigenous people who call the Grand Canyon and surrounding areas home.
-For this option, read a book with the MPG Native American(s) or Indigenous
OR
B) We don’t plan on another big trip for 2025, but are hoping to make a short weekend trip to Minnesota to go to Target Field and see the Minnesota Twins play baseball.
-For this option, read a book with a two word title where each word has the same, or twin, first initial. This includes repeated words.
Examples: Magpie Murders, There There, Finding Flora, The Thrashers, or Red Rising

20.7 Shorter is Sweeter: Karen Michele's Task - I Wonder
Help Thread
We live near a forest and in our back area there is a protected small forest where we often have Great Horned Owls. A few days ago, I looked out the window at dawn and saw one staring back at me from the ground. I wondered if it was hurt as it kept hopping on the ground and hopping short distances, but then it was gone, so it must have flown. When I told my husband about it, he said he saw three of them out there the night before (I wondered why he didn’t wake me?) We still wonder what was going on, but now we think it was probably parents guiding their young one as it learned to fly. I have wondered about the natural world all my life and I’ve never lost my sense of wonder. In the midst of this busy world, I hope you will wonder with me by choosing one of these three things I wonder about and choosing a book to fit the task.
This is a one book task. Read a book that fits one of the options below.
Graphic Novels may be used for this task.
Required: State the option
Option 1
I wonder if our natural world will thrive?
Read a book where animals or their natural habitats are essential to the story. For example, a book like What an Owl Knows: The New Science of the World's Most Enigmatic Birds works, but the Harry Potter books do not, even though owls are in the story, because the owls are not essential to the book's plot. The book can be nonfiction or fiction as long as the animals or habitats in the book are real. For example, a fiction book from a real animals point of view like Remarkably Bright Creatures would work, but a book about mermaids or selkies or books with anthropomorphism would not work.
Required: Please provide a reference if it is not evident in the GR book description.
Option 2
I wonder what the future will bring for my grandchildren?
A) Read a book from this Coming of Age list:
Best Coming of Age stories
Required:Include the page number in your post.
B) Read a memoir that includes the childhood of the author.
This list may help, but is not required:
Childhoods
Option 3
I wonder what new inventions will become reality and what new discoveries will be made?
Read a book that has won the Hugo Award for science fiction (just winners in all categories) and perhaps wonder about whether anything in the book could really happen.

Required: Award must be listed on the GR book page

20.9 Moderator's Pet: Trishhartuk's Task - Crater Lake
Help Thread
Being a Brit, I haven’t been to that many of the US National Parks. However, one I have visited is Crater Lake (https://www.nps.gov/crla/index.htm), the only National Park in Oregon. It has been known to the Native Americans for thousands of years, and was considered a sacred site, but wasn’t “discovered” by the European settlers until 1853. It was designated as a National Park on 22 May 1902, and was only the fifth National Park to be established. I first visited in 1996 and have been back twice since, as it’s one of my favourite places on Earth. This task celebrates this wonderful place.
Choose one option and read a book for that option. As Crater Lake is the only National Park in Oregon, all books must be by a single author (no writing teams using a single name!).
Required: State the option chosen
Option 1- Crater Lake is in the caldera of a volcano called Mount Mazama. Despite having not erupted for 7,700 years, it is still considered active by the US Geological Survey. Read a book where the author’s first and last initials can be found in MOUNT MAZAMA. Letters may be used as often as they appear.
Option 2- It is the deepest lake in the US, at 1,943 feet. There is one trail which gets you down to water level, and is classed as “strenuous”: the trail is only 1.1 miles long, but it drops 700 feet. Getting down is fine. Getting back up however… It’s worth it, though. The view at lake level is superb, and you can swim (if you’re brave enough) or take a boat trip. Read a book with large, natural body of water (lake, river or sea/ocean) on the cover. Man made places such as swimming pools, or just water with no other features to indicate whether it's natural or not, are not acceptable.
Required: post the cover.
These work:
These do not:
Option 3- If taking it easy, and driving round the caldera enjoying the view is more your thing, you can follow the Rim Drive, with its thirteen designated viewpoints. It’s a stunning trip. However, because of its altitude (6,500-7,900ft), and average snowfall of 41ft a year, it is only open from May to October. Read a book first published between May and October (inclusive) of any year from 1996-onwards.
Option 4- Two main islands break the surface of the lake: Wizard Island, which you can visit by boat; and the Phantom Ship, which you can only look at. Read a book with the MPG of Fantasy, Gothic or Ghosts (stand-alone or embedded).
20.10 Group Reads

25.1 - Ash's Task: Boss Level
Help Thread
Along with reading, one of my favorite hobbies is playing video games. I mostly play cozy games, but I also love choice based, and RPG (Role playing games that is!). The ones I'm currently obsessed with are Until Dawn, Animal Crossing, Minecraft, and Sims 4.
This is a two book task, choose two different options and read one book for each option.
Required: State the options.
For this task you may use a graphic novel for one of the books.
Option 1-Until Dawn
Until Dawn is a horror choice based game that is set in the mountains, where a handful of people have to survive until dawn.
For this option pick a book off of one of these lists
Wendigo
Time Loops
Trapped or Stranded
Not all of the books on these lists may meet SRC guidelines
Required: State the list and the page
Option 2-Animal Crossing
Animal Crossing is my all time favorite cozy game, I love to sit and listen to my audio books and decorate, explore, and talk with my villagers.
For this option pick one of the 10 villagers I have on my island and read a book with that name in the title, subtitle, or author first or last name.
Poppy, Molly, Pecan, Maple, Vivian, Olive, Erik, Chief, Bonbon, Grizzly
Plurals and possessives allowed, no other variations.
Option 3-Minecraft
One day when my son, Finn, was playing Minecraft he randomly said "A Creeper just blew up my house. Creepers have no respect." And that is, to this day, still one of my favorite things he has ever said. I about died laughing.
For this option read a book with a 4 or more letter word in the title that can be made up of letters in "creepers have no respect".
Letters may be used as many times as they appear.
Required: State the word.
Option 4-Sims 4
I grew up playing The Sims. I've played since Sims 1. It often becomes a hyper-fixation for me, and I will play all day every day for weeks on end, while reading of course.
My mom and I both play on the same account and between the two of us we have played a total of a whopping 5,130 Hours and 15 Minutes of the Sims 4.
For this task read a book where the page number consists of at least two of the numbers 0,1,3, or 5. Numbers may be used as many times as they appear.
Option 5-All the Games
There is so many other video games I absolutely love, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Final Fantasy, World of Warcraft, and more!
For this option read a book that is a tie in or spin off of a video game.
The video game has to be one that actually exists in real life, not a made up one for the book.
Here is a list of video game books in case you need ideas, but you don't have to pick off of this list.
Video Game Tie In Novels
Not all books on this list may meet SRC requirements.
Required: Post the game and if the game is not obvious from the goodreads main page provide reference.
25.2 - Robin P's Task: Enjoying Summer - Not!
Help Thread
I have lived my whole life in the northern part of the U.S., where people are thrilled to see summer arrive after the long cold months - but not me! I don't like hot weather, and it feels worse when everyone around me is remarking on how beautiful the day is.
This is a two book task, choose two different options and read one book for each option.
Required: state the options
Option 1 - No Sweat
I hate to sweat, so read a book whose title (Subtitles may be ignored) does not contain any of the letters SWEAT.
Option 2 - Hot Weather Clothes
A friend once told me that any summer day that is cool enough to put on long pants feels like a defeat. To me, it feels like relief. If any part of my body besides hands and face needs to be uncovered, it is too hot for me.
Read a book with a person wearing shorts or a swimsuit on the cover.
Required: Post the cover.
Option 3 - Mosquitos!
In northern climates, these are claimed as the "state bird" by multiple states. I react to them more than most people, as they often swell up and itch for days. Also mosquitos love me. I can be in a group and be the only one bothered. I recently read that these insects do favor type O blood, which I have.
The blood types are A, B, AB, and O. Read a book whose author has first and last initials made up of these letters. That is, the author initials are AA, AB, AO, BA, BB, BO, OA, OB, or OO.
If multiple authors are used all authors must meet the requirements.
Option 4 - Off Season
I don't regularly read books to match the season. To me, it is refreshing to read a tropical book in winter or a Christmas book in summer. Some merchants and book groups schedule Christmas in July events.
Read a book from the first 25 pages of one of these lists.
Winter Books
Christmas Books
Required: State the list and the page
25.3 - Shemac's task: Celebrating the end of WW2
Help Thread

This is a two book task. Choose two different options and read one book for each. The combined page count must be 500 or more pages.
Required: state the options
Option 1 - Read a book that is set (at least 50%) in any combination of Japan and/or of the territories in Asia that Japan invaded between 1st September 1939 and 15th August 1945.
Guam, Wake Island, Hong Kong, Philippines, the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia), Malaya, Singapore, Burma, Thailand, Indochina, Nauru, Kiribati, New Guinea and India

Option 2 - Read a book that has MPG World War II
Option 3 - The rationing of essential food and commodities began in the UK with petrol on 22nd September, 1939. It finally ended with the announcement on 23rd June, 1958 that restrictions on coal would be abolished.

Required: provide IMBD link to film/series
25.4 - Bookworm526's task: Our National Parks
Help Thread
We have recently begun a quest to visit all of the US National Parks. This task is based around the parks we have been to and the parks that are at the top of our list to get to next.
This is a two book task, pick an option from book 1 and an option from book 2
Required: State the options.
Book 1 - So far we have visited Congaree, Denali, Gateway Arch, Glacier Bay, and Mammoth Cave. Choose one book from the options below to celebrate these parks.
Option A - Two of the parks we have visited are in Alaska. Read a book set at least 50% in Alaska.
Required: Provide reference if setting is not evident from GR main page.
Option B - The national park we have visited most often, because it is the closest to home, is Congaree. Read a book with a word of at least four letters in the title (subtitles excluded) that can be made from the phrase CONGAREE SWAMP.
Letters may only be used as often as they appear.

Required: State that the author is new to you.
Option B - We are going to US Virgin Islands National Park during a holiday cruise. For this option, read a book that is set at least 50% in a location found on this list https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factboo... OR on a cruise ship.

25.5 - Fly's Task - Celebrating Summertime
Help Thread
This is a two book task. Choose two different months and read a book for one option each.
State the options
One graphic novel may be read for this task.
June
Option 1 -June is the most popular month for weddings!
Read a book where a wedding or a wedding anniversary is essential to the story.
Required: If not evident from the Goodreads main page, provide a reference
or
Read a book that has a wedding dress, a wedding cake, Champagne glass(es) or wedding ring on the cover.
Required: Post the cover.
Option 2- In the northern hemisphere, June contains the longest day of the year :)
For this task choose one of the longest books on your TBR pile. Go to 'My Books,' choose the shelf 'Want to read,' set it to show 20 books per page, sort by number of pages in descending order, and choose a book from the first page.
or
If you don't have a 'Want to read' shelf, you can read any book that exceeds 600 pages.
July
Option 1 - July 4th is American Independence Day.
Read a book with a cover containing all the colors red, white, and blue according to Tineye. Any percentage is okay as long as all three colors are present.
If you'd rather celebrate Bastille day, July 14th, then you can find a cover with blue, white and red ;)

Read a book whose main character is either a teacher or a student.
Required:If it isn't evident from the Goodreads main page, provide a reference.

Read a book by an author whose initials (first and last) are in one of the following words: BEER or SMORES or WAFFLE.
Letters can be used only as many times as they appear. Books written by multiple authors can be used as long as ALL authors fit the task individually.
For example, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society would NOT work, because although author Mary Ann Shaffer has initials MS in SMORES, the second author Annie Barrows' initials AB are not found in any of the three words. However, The Bletchley Riddle would work because both authors Ruta Sepetys (RS) and Steve Sheinkin (SS) have initials in SMORES, and so individually meet the requirements, and Pour l’intersectionnalité would work because author Sarah Mazouz has initials SM in SMORES, and Eléonore Lépinard has initials EL in WAFFLE.

Help Thread
On March 1, 1872, Yellowstone became the first national park for all to enjoy the unique hydrothermal and geologic features. Within Yellowstone's 2.2 million acres, visitors have many natural things to experiance and view. This task is all about the wonderful sites in Yellowstone.

Yellowstone National Park features numerous waterfalls and rivers, with the most prominent being the Yellowstone Falls and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. Yellowstone National Park boasts a vast and diverse array of water resources. It includes over 600 lakes and ponds, 2,500 miles of streams and rivers, 45 waterfalls, and thousands of small wetland areas.

These thermophiles, grouped together in large numbers, appear as masses of color, and different species tolerate different temperature ranges, creating the distinct bands of color seen in the spring.
Read a book with a cover featuring at least 5 different colors according to Tineye. A guide to using Tineye can be found here. the percentage does not matter but the colors need to be distinctly different not different shades of the same color. 30.6 Kmaried's Task - Catching Up On Series
Help Thread
The majority of books I read seem to be parts of series, especially in the last few years. I have 3 TBR lists on GR dedicated to this: series-new, series-next, and series-tbr. As I read them, the books get sorted into the next list so I don't have to always go to the series page to see where I am. I like to read series in order.
One of my goals for this season is to see how many of these I can get off my series-next list. So, this task is going to focus on series books.
This is a two-book task. Choose two different options and read 1 book for each option. Books must come from 2 different series.
Series must appear on the GR main book page. Whole numbers only.
Required State the options
Option A: Get caught up in a series. Read the current last published book in a series of at least 3 books. This can be the last one published before the season started (June 1, 2025). One that is published in the current season is eligible, but not required since new books are sometimes hard to get in a timely fashion.
Option B: I have copied my series-next list onto another shelf for this task since the original will change throughout the season. Choose a book from my Series-SRCSummer shelf. Read that book or one in the same series.
Required: State the original book picked if reading another in the series shelf.
Option C: Make progress on a series you have already started. Read a book that is #3 or above but not the last published book in the series.

30.10 Amy FL’s task: Return of a Favorite
Help Thread
I’m a mystery reader who loves a good series. This summer I’m looking forward to reading the newest entry in one of my absolute favorites. Let’s pay tribute to that series.
This is a two book task. Choose two different options and read one book for each option.
Required: State the option
I was hooked on The Prey series by John Sandford from the very first book, Rules of Prey. The main character, Lucas Davenport, is a police officer who is tough, brilliant and surrounded by some memorable characters.
Option 1: The Titles
The newest entry is #35 in the main series. There are two spinoff series, but for this task we will focus on the Lucas Davenport books which all have “Prey” in the title. Read a book with one of these words from the series in the title (subtitle excluded). Words must be exact. No variations.
Rules, Shadow, Eyes, Silent, Winter, Night, Mind, Sudden, Secret, Certain, Easy, Chosen, Mortal, Naked, Hidden, Broken, Invisible, Phantom, Wicked, Storm, Buried, Stolen, Silken, Field, Gathering, Extreme, Golden, Twisted, Neon, Masked, Ocean, Righteous, Judgment, Toxic, Lethal
Option 2: The Setting
This series takes place in Minnesota so for this task, read a book set at least 75% in Minnesota.
Required: If the setting is not obvious from the Goodreads Main Page, provide a reference.
Option 3: The Author
John Sandford is a pseudonym for the author who was born John Roswell Camp. Read a book written using a pseudonym. The pseudonym must be a single author, so no writing teams. J. D. Robb (pseudonym for Nora Roberts) works; Nicci French (pseudonym for Nicci Gerrard and Sean French) does not.
Required: If the pseudonym is not listed on on the Goodreads author page, provide a reference.
Option 4: The Characters
Read a book by an author who shares a first or last name with one of the recurring characters in the Prey series. The name must match exactly but can appear in any position.
Lucas Davenport, Jennifer Carey, Weather Karkinnen, Virgil Flowers, Del Capslock, Harrison Sloan, Letty Davenport, Rose Marie Roux (Rose or Marie work), Marcy Sherrill, Elle Kruger
Required: State the character’s name

50.1 - Lisa MD: The Summer My Boys Got Married
Help Thread
I have two sons, Greg (38 y/o), and Eric (33 y/o), who both are getting married this summer two months apart. I am over-the-moon they have found their loves, but wow, back-to-back weddings is a lot!
This is a 3 book task:
1. Read one book for each of the 3 options.
2. One book must be published in 2025.
3. Total combined pages must equal 750 or greater.
4. No graphic novels or manga allowed.
Book 1: Greg’s June Wedding
Greg and Rachel were married on June 7th in an outdoor wedding at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, MD. This was mainly a destination wedding. They live in Pittsburgh, PA, along with most of Rachel’s family. My side of the family lives in Salisbury, MD about 30 minutes from the destination.
Option A: Pittsburgh has a tradition called the “Pittsburgh Wedding Cookie Table.” The tradition is believed to have started during the Great Depression when families couldn’t afford to make cakes for weddings, and cookies were more affordable. Family and friends bake cookies for the wedding cookie table. Guests snack on the cookies during the reception and containers are provided to take home cookies as a favor. We had over 170 dozen cookies. In addition, the bride and groom did not want a traditional wedding cake, so I added 5 Smith Island cakes to the cookie table. Smith Island cake, an 8-10 layer cake, is our state cake and an Eastern Shore of Maryland tradition, so we married our traditions.
Read a book with a word of 3 or more letters made from the letters of “Pittsburgh Wedding Cookie Table” or “Smith Island Cake.” The words “and” and “the” may not be used.
Required: State the word and which phrase you used.
Option B: The wedding took place at the end of a long pier, under a pavilion on the Choptank River. Read a book with a pier, pavilion or gazebo, or a natural body of water on the cover.
Required: Include the cover in your post.
Examples:
Book 2: Eric’s August Wedding
Eric and Meghan are getting married on August 2nd at an outdoor wedding at Top of the Pines located in Ridgway, Colorado. This is truly a destination wedding for everyone. Eric and Meg live in Denver about 5 ½ hours from the venue and her family lives in Durango, CO several hours away. My family here in Maryland is approximately 32 hours away.
Option A: Top of the Pines is located at the foot of the Sneffels Range in southwest Colorado. It is a designated “International Dark Sky Park,” which means the park acts to preserve and protect dark sites through lighting policies. Artificial light can disrupt ecosystems, impact human health, contribute to climate change, waste energy, and block our view and connection to the universe.
Read a book whose cover shows the night sky with visible stars.
Required: Include the cover in your post.
Examples:
Option B: Guests will be traveling to the wedding from: Colorado, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Florida, California, North Carolina, New Jersey, Montana, and Germany.
Read a book set at least 50% in one or combination of the places listed above.
Required: If not obvious from the GR description, then provide a reference.
Book 3: Mother of the Grooms
My heart is full knowing my sons have found wonderful women to love and to be loved by, along with their extended families. I gladly welcome my daughter-in-loves and their families into mine.
Option A: Read a book whose author’s first and last initial can be found in “Mother of the Grooms.” Multiple authors are allowed as long as one qualifies.
Option B: Since I am the mother of two boys with not one, but two weddings over the summer, read a book whose title contains a plural word.
Example:
My Friends ; Black Woods Blue Sky ; The Bright Years ; Six Days in Bombay ; We Solve Murders ; The Sirens
