30.3 Susan A's Task: Exploring MPGs.

Participating in the Seasonal Reading Challenge has lead to me to discover that I actually enjoy some MPGs that I had been actively avoiding. Among them are:

MPG Survival
MPG Maritime
MPG Geology
MPG Medieval
MPG Adventure
MPG Post Apocalyptic

Choose 2 of the MPGs listed and read 1 book for each. The total number of pages read must exceed 500 pages. MPGS must match exactly.
Required: State the MPG.

Examples:
The Perfect Storm by Sebastian Junger (MPG survival) and Batavia's Graveyard The True Story of the Mad Heretic Who Led History's Bloodiest Mutiny by Mike Dash (MPG Maritime)

T. Rex and the Crater of Doom by Walter Álvarez (MPG Geology) and The Bride (Lairds' Fiancées, #1) by Julie Garwood (MPG Medieval)

The Princess Bride by William Goldman (MPG Adventure) and The Stand by Stephen King (MPG Post Apocalyptic)

Also I have a question - I chose a book from the links that you posted above - a maritime book on page 1 and a medieval book on page 6 but neither book actually lists Maritime or Medieval as one of their MPGs on their main page.

Do they still count?

question about The Hunger Games

it's on every list of post-apocalyptic novels - it's #3 on the list of post-apocalyptic novels and yet it doesn't have an MPG of post-apocalyptic - things like #bookclub and #audiobook are showing up as MPGs which is slightly ridiculous since neither one of those are genres

and most of the books from the list that i've clicked on so far don't either

would it still work or how do i find an actual book that has it as an MPG because searching by genre clearly isn't working

No, it doesn't work for post-apocalyptic.

I looked at this list: https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...

46 of the books on the first page work for post apocalyptic, so it seems like you are maybe having bad luck with your searching. (The books that didn't work were pretty popular books)


Some tips:
1. On the book's main page, in the MPG section, if you see the word MORE, you can click on that to see a few more MPGs.
See this book: Bird Box Post Apocalyptic appears on the main page after you click on MORE. This works.

2. Check Out what other people are reading for this task here:

3. I'm not sure what you like to read, but here are some post apocalyptic books (with MPG) that I liked:

The Stand
Soul Eater
Enclave
The Eleventh Plague
Scorpius Rising -- short book, 138 pages

4. The Hunger Games does not work for apocalyptic, but books 2 & 3 of that series do work for post apocalyptic. You could read book 1 for another task (task 20.6 works I think) and then read book 2 for this task. (and read book 3 for task 10.10 which requires Post apoc MPG too )

5. The Hunger Games works for MPG Adventure

All of the above have been verified except for Plague Year -- the link takes me to somewhere else.

Is this the right book: Plague Year by Jeff Carlson? It works for post-apocalyptic
