The Bachelorette Party

Rate this book
Scream meets The Guest List in this wickedly compelling and compulsively page-turning thriller of friendship and murder from the author of The Lost Village, Camilla Sten.

On a remote, craggy island nestled off the coast of Sweden, four friends—Tilly, Anna, Linnea and Evelina—meet every year. Best friends since childhood, the idea is to drink beer, dance by the water, and shake off the weight of life's expectations. The location of the island is a secret to everyone but them. One night of reckless fun and secret-sharing, and then they return to their normal lives.

Ten years later. Ever since she was a teenager, Tessa Nilsson has been consumed by the story of four friends who disappeared on their annual trip to a remote island together. As her true crime fervor turned into a wildly popular podcast, Tessa urgently covered Sweden’s most gruesome cases, but could never find the answers behind what happened to these women who disappeared, leaving a few maddening clues but no concrete answers. Now Tessa’s podcast has crashed and burned, any chance she had at uncovering the truth vanishing with it.

Anneliese is Tessa’s best friend, and before she walks down the aisle, she wants to have a bachelorette party. The Baltic Vinyasa, a sleek, sophisticated yoga retreat on a small island off the coast—one with such similar characteristics to the tragedy years ago that it raises the hair on Tessa’s neck. The idea is to drink gallons of cava, do sunrise yoga, and get in their last chance to bond with the bride. Tessa will not pass this up. It’s her last chance to find out what happened to the four women, once and for all.

And it’s someone else’s last chance to get revenge.

Camilla Sten is a writer, and her publisher made the mistake of letting her set this author page up by herself. She is best known for her internationally bestselling novel "The Lost Village", which has sold to 19 countries, and has written books ranging from YA fantasy to contemporary thrillers.

Camilla lives in Sweden with her American boyfriend and two fluffy, evil cats. She is quite enjoying talking about herself in the third person, and might keep it going after she's submitted this author bio.

Well, I’ll start my unpopular review by saying that even though I’m a die-hard fan of locked-room murder mysteries, I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the author’s previous works. There was no issue with the execution of the mystery—the pacing was good, and the intertwining of the past mystery of the Nacka Four with the present-day bachelorette party mystery was gripping.

However, I wasn’t satisfied with how things wrapped up. The unnecessarily exaggerated and overly dramatic ending reminded me of a soap opera. Additionally, the perpetrators’ identities were far too obvious from the beginning, which killed the suspense and surprise.

I also struggled to connect with the characters, including the protagonist Tessa and her best friends. That said, I was intrigued by the mystery of the scandal that ruined Tessa’s life, and when the truth was revealed, it sent chills down my spine. That twist captured my interest far more than what happened to the Nacka Four or the events at Annalise’s wedding.

For these reasons, I’m giving this book a solid three stars. It deserves credit for its balanced pacing and the seamless connection between the past and present mysteries, even if it didn’t fully meet my expectations.

Quick recap of the plot:
Ten years ago, four childhood friends, known as the Nacka Four, gathered on a remote island off the coast of Sweden—a location they kept secret from everyone. They were presumed drowned after an intoxicated boat trip, but their bodies were never found.

Fast forward ten years: four more childhood friends reunite at the same location, this time for Annalise’s bachelorette party. The gathering follows similar rules, including a strict technology cleanse. Among them is Tessa, who has a hidden agenda: to investigate the Nacka Four’s disappearance and salvage her career as a disgraced podcaster.

The island is now owned by the sister of one of the victims, and Tessa is determined to uncover the truth. But when one of the bachelorette party guests goes missing and another starts acting suspiciously, wielding knives, Tessa realizes that digging into the past might come with a price she’s not prepared to pay.

Overall:
I’ve already shared my verdict—three stars. While I expected more, it’s still a fast-paced, popcorn thriller that might satisfy fans of the genre.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press/Minotaur Books for providing a digital review copy of this thriller in exchange for my honest thoughts.

A fun, binge-worthy read that kept me on the edge of my seat, The Bachelorette Party was everything I could want in a psychological thriller. From the complex group dynamics to the spine-tingling fear, I raced through these pages in just a matter of hours. I mean, who wouldn’t love a locked room murder mystery on a small, deserted island? With a disturbing glimpse into the past thanks to dual timelines and dual POVs, this claustrophobic storyline started off with quite the bang and only escalated from there. You see, the enigmatic past was interwoven tautly with the present, creating a reality that was as eerie and dark as it was well-written. Bravo, Ms. Sten, on a plot that kept me glued to my seat chair.

While the plot was a ratcheting case of impending doom, the characters felta bit overly dramatic to my eye. Despite that, however, I quickly latched onto the two main narrators, who I easily rooted for throughout the adrenaline-fueled climax and near-perfect conclusion. And although the rest of the pack was far from likable, they were still absolutely compelling. The best piece of the puzzle, though, was the horror-movie-esque vibe. Who was going to be the last girl standing? And who was going to be the first to be taken out by the villain? Just like in the theater, I could just about hear the scary music playing as I raced to learn all of the whos, whats, and whys.

All said and done, this was one book that required every light to be on after I checked the locks on my windows and doors. Bloody, hair-raising, and somewhat graphic, it had everything that I’ve always loved in those good ‘ole slasher films: a shadowy villain, pretty girls trying to survive, a sinister atmosphere, and plenty of kills. Was it just a tad predictable? Well…maybe. Just the same, I had a blast watching the bad guy in this addictive whodunnit even the score. So if you’re looking for a book that’s a mix of a classic scary movie and a thriller like One by One, this one’s for you. After all, the growing paranoia, uneasy foreboding, and palpable tension were all there in spades. Rating of 4.5 stars.

I’ve really enjoyed Camilla Sten’s previous books, The Lost Village and The Resting Place, so I had high hopes for The Bachelorette Party. Unfortunately, this one just didn’t quite click with me. I made it halfway through before deciding to set it aside, so I won't be giving it a rating.

I was immediately drawn in by the eerie, atmospheric, and eye-catching cover, and while the pacing felt brisk at times, the mystery itself was too much of a slow burn for me. I don’t do well with drawn-out reveals—I need an immediate hook to keep me interested and turning the pages.

On top of that, the story felt overwhelming. There were so many characters that I had trouble keeping track of who was who, and the shifting timelines made it hard to stay engaged. I found myself losing patience as the plot unfolded, and ultimately, I just wasn’t invested enough to push through.

I still love Sten’s writing and will definitely check out her future books, but this one just wasn’t for me. If you enjoy multi-layered mysteries with a large cast and a slow-building sense of suspense, you might have better luck with it!

Special thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy.

This story just didn’t work for me. It didn’t pull me in or give me that familiar tension and suspense I usually expect from a good mystery-thriller. I kept waiting for something big to happen, but the plot just didn’t go anywhere.

Thrillers are usually all about the build-u, the slow burn that leads to a shocking twist, but that tension was missing here. It just didn’t deliver the excitement I was hoping for.

**2.5-stars rounded up**

The Bachelorette Party is primarily set on a remote island off the coast of Sweden. The story follows two different timelines and includes a podcast element.

All of these were selling points for me, but unfortunately, I found the presentation quite choppy, and I was never really able to settle into the story to enjoy it.

The early set-up involves a group of four women, who make a trip to the island together every year. Best friends since childhood, it's a tradition they keep in order to continue the good times and their friendship.

They're also very secretive about the island's location; telling no one. They have it just for themselves.

This one night of fun without any ties to their regular lives was always a great thing for the women. Until it wasn't.

Ten years later, Tessa Nilsson, a recently disgraced podcaster, decides to focus on a true crime case that has captivated her attention since she was kid. It's the story of four friends, who went to a remote island for a night, but were never seen again.

As luck would have it, Tessa's best friend is about to get married, and her Bachelorette Party is a yoga retreat, set on a remote island with many similarities to the one the friends went missing from a decade ago.

Tessa, of course, attends the retreat and the way things go, she's positive this is the place. Someone is out for revenge, but for what and for who?

I don't know what else to say. That's what the story is about, but it failed to stay with me. In my brain and directly out. I didn't vibe well with the way it was written and found it difficult to stay focused on the back and forth.

Tessa's perspective was the most interesting thing going on for me, but even that started to lose me after a while.

I do think if you read this one at the right moment, perhaps it could be a win for you. Please don't let my apathy about it keep you from at least giving it a try.

I would categorize it as a Popcorn Thriller, so it could be a good one to bring with you this Summer to the beach, or on a quick Weekend Getaway.

Personally, I wish it could have captured my attention a little more, because the premise was certainly intriguing.

At the end of the day, we can't love them all, and this one just wasn't for me. I know many Readers are going to enjoy it, and you could be one of them!

Thank you to the publisher, Minotaur Books and Macmillan Audio, for providing me with copies to read and review.

I have enjoyed novels from Camilla Sten in the past, and will continue to check out all her new releases. My favorite so far, if you're interested, has been The Resting Place.

A strange disappearance years ago. A new group of women appear on the island, what are some of their connections to the past? Great concept. But execution didn't pan out well for me. I liked the suspense, the character development and the setting. But too many intentional gaps in the last 15 years to know what was really going on, who was hiding their identity. Plus, the murders seemed like a tool rather than a pivotal point in a character's life. Almost like an afterthought, as it was more about revenge without a motive until the end. But I liked the writing style and will read another from the author to see how it goes.

Guys.. I devoured this book!! So much to love!! 🔒 First off I have read The Lost Village by @authorcamillasten so I knew that this was a must read for me! Listen to this..

You get invited to a private island 🏝️… Your bestie has reserved it for just the four of you girls.. for her bachelorette party. 🥂 Sounds fantastic right??

Just a disclaimer… there are no cellphones allowed.. no outside contact… and ONE small boat 🛶 to get off the island 🏝️ Nothing to worry about.. NOTHING happens here… Well lately.. 😬… I mean ten years ago four girls did disappear 💨 poof!! Never to be seen again… BUT no worries. 😂😳 I mean what could go wrong?! 😉

Okay thriller lovers… you know the answer!! EVERYTHING can and did go wrong!! This was such a great read! I couldn’t put it down. A locked 🔒 room mystery… that quickly escalated out of control. I love this kind of thriller. 🫶

ARC for review. To be published June 10, 2025.

3 stars

Four friends take their yearly trip to a small, deserted island owned by one of their fathers. It’s off the coast of Sweden and Matilda, Anna, Linnea and Evalina will camp overnight and spend time with each other…until one year when it all goes wrong.

Ten years later a posh wellness resort is built on the island and before it opens to the public Lena manages to book a special bachelorette party there for her friend Anneliese. It will be just the bride and her bridesmaids, Lena, Mikaela, the maid of honor, Lena’s sister Tessa, who has recently had her life turned upside down, Natalie and Caroline.

Caring for them are manager and yoga instructor, Irene and chef, Adam. The weekend includes a digital detox so the ladies give turn their phones in when they arrive…it’s to be just champagne, fancy vegan meals and lots of fun. For a while. Until…

I read and enjoyed Sten’s THE LOST VILLAGE, which is why I was interested in this book (plus my love of locked room mysteries,) but this one didn’t quite grab me the way that one did. This was more a standard thriller, you’ve seen most of this before, plus, and I admit that math is not my strong suit, but I have some real questions about how the timeline all worked out here.

I will say no more for fear of spoilers, but I’m interested to see if anyone else mentions the same thing. It’s fine for a beach read, I guess, but no need to rush right out to get the first copy off the press.

Thanks to Net Galley and Minotaur Books for an early digital version of Camilla Sten's The Bachelorette Party. I was interested in its setting, the remote Isle Blind, a bleak, craggy island situated off the Swedish coast. I usually enjoy mysteries in the 'locked room ' genre. I regret I was never engaged in the plot, the book's structure, or its large cast. The many names were confusing for me. My problem was with the translation or with my confusion over the timelines and names of the characters. I found myself rereading sections to figure out who was speaking, and which of the two groups I was reading about.

The book was just not for me. It was disjointed, and the timelines were often unclear to me. Its pace was mostly slow, and the time jumps detracted from the momentum and suspense. The story tended to be predictable. I note that I am in a minority, as many liked the book. I urge prospective readers not to be deterred by my misgivings, but to read the positive reviews.

Ten years earlier, in 2012, four friends went to this deserted island, which they had visited before. They vanished, and the mystery has never been solved. Ten years later, a different group of friends visited the same island for a bachelorette party. A luxury health resort is opening, and they plan to celebrate Annelisse's upcoming wedding, relax, and participate in yoga and the spa at the resort. Tessa attends as the bride's best friend. She also has another agenda. Tessa was a popular true-crime podcaster. Something happened that spoiled her reputation, and she is bitter at the loss of the podcast. He hopes to solve the mysterious disappearance of the four women ten years ago, and make a new podcast about the case, drawing back her many fans. The group is unaware of a danger still lurking.
Fans of Camilla Sten, and those who enjoy a complicated, puzzling mystery should be entertained. The publication date is June 10, 2025.

This is one wild and dangerous bachelorette party! Wow 😮 Dark, intense and creepy but so fun to read. I read this in a day, so addictive.

I do love a dual timeline, locked room mystery. 2012, 4 women go missing never to be seen again. They are presumed drowned. 10 years later, true crime podcaster, Tessa goes to the same remote island for her oldest friend’s bachelorette party and decides to look around and ask questions. She knows there is more to the stories than they have been told.

This was so entertaining. The women were not all likeable which makes it even more fun. I did have an inkling of the who but not the why. It really was a binge read.

Thanks so much to St Martin’s Press for my advanced copy of this book to read. Publishes on June 10th.

Vengeance is deadly in this atmospheric slow-burning mystery. Dual timelines and multiple characters create a tale of retribution and betrayal. The Nacka Four incident triggers life-changing events of evil. I had difficulty connecting to the characters and being invested in their lives. However, the plot was suspenseful with twists and turns. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for my copy.

I listened to the audiobook for this one and I did like the narrator quite a bit. The story itself was interesting, but I found the main character/narrator really obnoxious, lacking depth, and self-absorbed. I really loved the setting for this story quite a lot. Tessa is headed out to a bachelorette party that she should be skipping. She is dead broke, but she can’t resist the chance to get to the island she is sure was the setting to something horrible happening to four missing girls years. I found it a little hard to believe that no one guessed the island owned by one of the family’s as a possible setting but it did make a better story. I guessed the villain super early on, and I struggled with how slow. Tessa was to process clues and get there herself. I did like the over arching mystery of how Tessa messed up her podcast career, it was fun. The one negative about the audiobook were the phone records and texts, I couldn't track the phone numbers the way I might have if I was reading the book.

This was a solid, entertaining thriller that kept me interested . A group of friends heads to a remote island for a bachelorette weekend but things quickly take a dark turn. The audiobook was especially enjoyable, with great narration that brought the chaos to life. The women in this story are all delightfully unhinged, and watching the drama unfold across a dual timeline added an extra layer of suspense. A fun, twisty ride with a dark edge.

Now, this was a delicious summer read that I needed to stay with to see how it all played out. A remote island off Sweden. An unsolved mystery involving four women who went missing years before. A true crime podcaster seeking redemption.

A tangled web that I couldn't wait to see how it would unravel! It was a little overdramatic, but I confess to falling prey to it. Maybe it was a little too transparent as to who the killer was, but I still am going to leave it at a 4-star rating as it kept me hooked.

What I Liked:
1. The idea of this creepy island
2. Adam seemed like a chill guy

What I Didn't Like:
1. Book became so confusing so fast
2. The writing style felt silly and plain
3. Characters are so ridiculous

Final Thoughts:
You know what's confusing? Having two sets of 4 friends in two different timelines going to the same island. Then add more random characters into the mix. I tried to keep track but I felt like I was having to build a whole world/map to know who was who and when this time was. Why??? Remember books that didn't do this? It becomes confusing and frustrating as a reader.

I think at this point I am calling my relationship with this author dead. I read two other books from her and they've all been 1 and 2 stars. I did finish this book but what did I really get in doing that? Just annoyed with the ending. All these people getting away with murder and not just one person but 4 or more people.

The storyline in this book is so paper-thin it's see through.

I wanted to love this one as I’m a big fan of bachelorette parties that have gone wrong in thrillers, but I found it to be somewhat confusing with the dual timelines and all the characters. Perhaps if they had a bit more personality to tell them apart, I would have enjoyed it more? I’m not sure. But I needed something more and the book failed to deliver on that. I also found the twist too obvious. This doesn’t usually turn me off, but if it IS obvious then something else about the novel (like the characters) need to be spectacular. That’s not the case here. Nevertheless, this is a quick read, and I flew right through it. I may not have loved it but there’s nothing essentially wrong with the book, it just isn’t a favorite like I hoped it would be.

This book has some real "horror movie" energy. Remember the geico commercial awhile back where there were kids running away from a murderer and they hid behind a wall of chainsaws instead of driving away? This book is like that. It reminds me of the Scream/I know what you did last summer time frame of cinema. The characters are beautiful, mostly female, some of them are basically interchangeable. The only reason why there are 4 women in the first set of murders and 5 in the second set is to heighten the body count and make it bloodier. It is a big riot and obviously, as they say, a "page-turner." I read it in one sitting.

Dual time frames- 2012 when a group of 4 friends goes on their annual girls trip to a remote island with no coverage. 2022 when a bachelorette party goes to the same island, which now has a mindfulness resort on it as the first guests. The most interesting character is our main character in 2022, Tessa. She recently was a true crime podcaster but had some sort of problem a "mistake" that ended her career, which we find out later in the story. She is single and bisexual, there is an interesting conversation with one of the bridesmaids who is demonstrating what biphobia sounds like, in her ignorance. Most of the tertiary characters are generally pretty one dimensional, as there isn't time to develop them.

Although this takes place in Sweden, and all of the first names and surnames are quite Swedish, it comes across as pretty American. I enjoyed the story and didn't guess the ending. If you read a lot and enjoy a good slasher film, you should pick this one up!

Swedish author Camilla Sten delivers a dual-timeline murder mystery (times two!) with her new novel, “The Bachelorette Party”. With a desolate, isolated island as the backdrop, two groups of women, over the span of a decade, attend a celebration on the Isle Blind, and not all of them make it out alive.

Sten has delivered powerhouse suspense novels such as “The Lost Village” and “The Resting Place”, and I have been honoured to read both of these stellar stories. Her newest, “Bachelorette” connects eight women and two timelines in an effortless, compulsively readable way. Dripping with mystery and tension, Sten’s newest novel is a tale of friendships, female bonding and, best of all, revenge.

Matilda is the main character from ten years ago, as she journeys to the island to reconnect with her estranged friends and Tessa is the current protagonist, traveling to the resort to celebrate the upcoming marriage of her best friend, Anneliese. Both women are loosely connected at the beginning, as Tessa hopes to use the story of Matilda and her friends as a topic for her podcast, however, they have a much deeper connection that is revealed in the final chapters. Sten provides tension and intrigue with her well-written plot, and crafts a novel with not one, but two, interconnected timelines.

All of the characters have similarities that make it difficult to tell them apart if you aren’t paying close attention. That being said, they are the only characters throughout the novel, so it makes guessing the ending challenging, as there are no random suspects thrown in, which speaks to Sten’s talent. However, due to this, when the outcome is revealed, it was not entirely unexpected but it still manages to hold some surprising elements while providing necessary closure.

“Bachelorette” has “The Guest List” elements, with some “White Lotus” thrown in. Since there has been a great influx of novels lately focusing on women getting murdered while on tropical vacations, I probably won’t be leaving the comfort of my couch anytime soon. Which is a good thing, because “Bachelorette”, and others like it, provide the perfect (and safe!) escape.

The Bachelorette Party (audio) 2⭐️

I always feel a bit guilty when I’m not enjoying a book. This plot reminded me of another novel by the same title published last Fall (true crime junkie/bachelorette party/dark turn). The beginning started with a bang and then jumped a decade with all new characters introduced. The past timeline focused on the first group of friends and the present timeline follows the bachelorette party of a different group of friends. I was almost completely uninterested in the main story through Tessa’s POV (present) and was more interested in Matilda’s POV (past), which wasn’t good because the present was really the main story.

Audio specific: The narrator seemed monotone for the main characters (Tessa and Matilda) and their “voices” were basically the same. I had to really pay attention the chapter titles/dates. The other characters had good unique voices. My other gripe was that this is set in Sweden and everyone had American accents. I think it would have helped to use a narrator that could nail the accents to help bring the book to life for audio listeners.

Thank you NetGalley and Minotaur Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

Scream meets The Guest List in this atmospheric, looked room thriller. It follows two different timelines of two different women on the same island. Both go there with friends for a bachelorette party that quickly turns into a nightmare.

I really enjoyed The Resting Place and The Lost Village so I was excited to dive into this book as well. Unfortunately it didn’t give me that same on the edge of my seat feeling I was expecting. I figured out the whodunnit way too quickly and was a bit disappointed by that as well. There were also very similar names between the women of past and present that had me scrolling back in confusion to the beginning of the current chapter to figure out which point of view I was reading.
3.5 stars rounded up.

🍸 slowww burn

I really enjoyed this book right from the beginning! I was invested almost immediately and I could NOT put it down.
The author did very well with describing the scene and situations; I could very clearly picture exactly what was happening in my head 😁
I absolutely love a dual timeline thriller because it’s like you’re getting little pieces of the story randomly, and it doesn’t all quite make sense until the very end when it all comes together 🩵💙🩵💙 A few times in here I had no idea what was going on (in the best way possible 🤪🤪) and it was so satisfying when it all came together in the end! The ending was shocking and crazy, and I absolutely loved it!
This one was definitely slow to start, but once it did BOY WAS I HOOKED! I could not put it down after the first half!!

A really engaging thriller. Does a great job of building intrigue and have you trying to figure it out. Told from 2 different times, it goes back and forth fairly seamlessly. At the end, I was definitely on the edge of my seat flipping pages frantically.

An easy and fast read for fans of locked door mysteries!

Let’s be honest- locked door can get repetitive. But the vibes are usually still there, and it’s a much loved setting! I find the key with locked door is to not speculate too much as I read and just enjoy the ride. I read quickly, so I sped right through this one as I do with majority of locked door settings.

The bachelorette trip as a setting is a fun time, and I enjoyed the characters as well as the duel mysteries going on. The chapters moved along at a nice pace and I was entertained throughout the book. I would recommend the read if the setting suits your mood!

Thank you to the publisher for the gifted ARC

This was my first read by this author and while I found the story to be entertaining, I struggled following the characters names (there felt like a lot) as well as the duals timelines which took a little bit away for me. With that said, I still enjoyed it. I found some parts predictable, but there was plenty that took me by surprise too. Overall I would recommend this to someone who is looking for a fast paced, remote setting thriller.

The Bachelorette Party starts with some of the classic psychological thriller areas that we typically enjoy. Remote island, limited to no cell phone availability, isolated group of friends, and secrets lurking in the shadows amongst these friends.

Tessa is a podcaster and is completely obsessed with true crime! When the opportunity presents itself to visit the exact location of a suspected previous crime, she can’t miss this chance. But slowly, the group of friends find themselves fighting for survival.

Overall, a good read that picked up about 65% in. Although the foundation was set during the first half, I felt it was a bit uneven paced & took a while to get to the nitty gritty. I enjoy slow-burns but this one dragged just a bit but when it picked up, I really enjoyed the rest of the story and it had some suspenseful moments.. The narrator did a good job with the narration in the audiobook version. Thank you Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for this advanced listening copy. All opinions are my own.

This was a quick paced thriller set on a small island in the Baltic Sea near Sweden. The novel is set in two different time periods. First in 2012, four friends traveled to Isle Blind to reconnect, never dreaming that it will be their last time alive. Then in 2022, the island now has a yoga retreat and is open for the first time for a bachelorette party. Tessa is a true crime podcaster who has recently lost her podcast due to an unfortunate and tragic incident. The bachelorette party is her chance to be with her old friends but more importantly it could be a chance for her to learn more about the four murders dubbed the Nacka Four in 2012. This could be her opportunity to restart her podcast. However once on the island her doubts begin to grow as she feels that things are not right. Then one of her friends goes missing and Tessa fears the worst. Will she make it off the island alive or will history repeat itself?

I really enjoyed the pacing of this novel. It was a great escape for the weekend. I did find myself caught up with the friend drama and wanted things to work out for Tessa. I kept guessing as to what actually happened and was definitely surprised when everything was revealed. This is a thrilling thriller with a great setting. I also think the cover is gorgeous and would probably pick it up for that reason alone. A very enjoyable and fast paced read!

This was a decent thriller! For once I actually managed to figure out who the killer was but I never could have guessed the reason why. This was a page-turner and the last 20% of the book had me speed reading at an insane pace 👀 I really enjoyed the back and forth between the present day and the past mystery of the Nacka Four, it set up the story nicely for the explosive finale. My issues were more with the characters, I didn't really connect with any of them and they were pretty unlikeable.

The pacing was great and the intertwining mysteries from the past and present were well done! I love short chapters and this book delivered on that front!

Thank you St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books and NetGalley for the arc!

This was a fun read! Nothing stand out and I didn’t think about the story after setting this book down, but overall a fun premise and a quick read. I liked the bachelorette aspect to it and the remote location was fun!
