Next? The Primal Hunter

Read this at work tonight... I feel like I started this series ASAP 7 days early, for the past 6 months... I loved this series so much... serious cozy vibes read, after awhile...

This one was no exception...

Clive's Wife hijinks from the get go, lots of great character moments, and a fair amount of setup for future threats that seem harder to just kill into submission... bureaucracy and immortality abound...

Several chapter titles also made me widen my eyes, lol... shame we gotta wait for book 13+, until Shirtaloon is healthy enough to write... I'll persevere, tho...

Going forward, we plan to try Primal Hunter, which has a similar amount of books, and I own half already...

I assume we'll start in January...

For November/December, I plan to read Discount Dan & Cul-de-sac Carnage... I mentioned them in the Spooktober / Cozy November Plan-a-palooza thread, and I know Nirkatze has been picking them up, wo we can just make it the official holiday replacement read before starting Primal Hunter in January...

All the research I've been doing's made me really excited to read more LitRPG...

I went ahead and requested Primal Hunter #1 for Jan.

Also read this earlier in the week--another fun ride... I feel like we're starting to get threads of the endgame... I saw a recent post by Shirtaloon where he mentioned he had the end in sight... (view spoiler)[The Clive's wife hijinks were great as always, but it was the completely oblivious sexual staff jokes that got me the most... Just lots of great humorous moments in general.

Actually, that was a lie. My favorite humorous scene was when Jason applied for (re)entry into the Adventurer's Guild, and got an intake interviewer who was even more casual and chatty than he was... it was super funny listening to him get a little taste of his own medicine, and also a bit painful, every time she mentioned something like "if you know one of those people you should use the connection--it'll get you far!" not know that he was not one of those people but THE person... when at the end he revealed himself, it was both a relief and satisfying... but oh so many laughs in the meanwhile!

And of course, the never-ending conversations--the back-and-forth on "no, you really shouldn't go up against Jason don't be dumb" "but he's not doing what I want" "well, you can be dead and not have what you want or alive and not have what you want, but those are really the only two choices here" "no, I will fight him for what I want"--I don't know why I'm not tired of these yet? It kind of makes me think of the endless villain conversational viewpoints in Weber's Honorverse, but they don't have the same cozy-comeuppance-satisfaction-level. 'Cause you just KNOW that Jason is going to squash them like a bug. And it is so satisfying when it happens. Or they realize just how outclassed they are. Makes me smile every time. I don't really mind the OPness at all.

Coming back to Earth at the end... full circle again... ending with a big hug from his niece... nice touch... (hide spoiler)]

I really liked the lady that made him follow the process rather than cut the line... Then she got promoted, lol...
