Hmm… it seems like you can’t really tell that it’s a sword. It could be a different weapon

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Hi all - I hope you are well!
I have been travelling this week and I am staying in Brisbane this weekend with my husband and no kids which is a bit exciting. We feel very indulgent going to nice restaurants and sleeping in ;)

I am getting our read books onto the s/sheet now before breakfast and will give an update by the end of the weekend as to where we are at!

Ugh, sorry. The Necromancer's Heart is the wrong name. It should be The Reanimator's Heart. The link on the sheet is correct though. I also double-checked and the correct one is on my brown coats shelf.

Marked by Shadows is already on the right shelf. Did I mess up with a different one maybe? Or maybe you checked yesterday? I caught a couple within the last day or so. Here's a link directly to my review showing it on the right shelf:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Also, I forgot to put the date read by Endangered Species. I read it a few days ago. I never post stuff unless I've read it because I might not be in the mood or DNF it or something. Oops, sorry.

Thanks!

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments I'm still waiting for Cosy Cat Society from my library. Going to find an alternative for the LGBTQIA+ task.

ETA Seanan McGuire is pansexual, bisexual and demisexual according to her Wikipedia page so I'll pick up something of hers.

message 222: by Kelly (Maybedog) (last edited Feb 22, 2025 06:22AM) (new)

Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 154 comments I can take that mini task if you want. Almost all I read is gay romance and a lot is written by gay men. A book I read yesterday, Nearlywed by Nicolas DiDomizio, qualifies. His website says he's married to his husband Craig. The book is on the spreadsheet.

message 223: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Thanks Kelly. I've started it already and her books are normally a quick enjoyable read for me.

message 224: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1020 comments Ok, so Mal is holding a gun on the cover of this one, but it's not very obvious (easier to see on the paperback cover in person).

The Ghost Machine (Firefly, #3) by James Lovegrove

Ok, to use, or find something else? I have plenty more, but it's Firefly! 😁

message 225: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments I can see the trigger and the chamber with a bit of the barrel. I'd probably say yes if I was captaining, but aware others may think it's not clear enough.

message 226: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments I think it is borderline Sammy. If you have another at hand that may be safer 😬

message 227: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1020 comments I have guns and swords aplenty. Happy to read for either or both depending on what other folk have up their sleeveses.

message 228: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Ok great thank you. If you have both to bring out then go at it as no-one else has found one as yet.
I was going to check what I have when I get home so if you don’t find one that suits your mood let me know and I’m sure I can dig something out

We only have 6 cards left to read for in our Feb hand - great work team!

Lauri - this does include your 8 Red. Are you still reading for this or should we open it to the team?

Also, for the mini we are looking for a sword on the cover. Sammy can cover it, but shouting it out in case anyone has one in mind they would like to read :)

Could someone please add this to our spreadsheet for me? Thank you!

message 232: by Kelly (Maybedog) (last edited Feb 22, 2025 11:47PM) (new)

Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 154 comments Karen, what cards are left? Or if you're still playing with the hands, what would be best for us to read for? I alone will read six more books by the end of the month and I'm just one person on the team so I'm sure we'll have plenty. It's just a matter of whether we have the right cards.

Out of curiosity, is each card worth the same amount?

message 233: by Sammy (last edited Feb 23, 2025 04:17AM) (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1020 comments I've added a book for gun and one for sword to the SS, but am happy to let anyone grab either task if they want them, just holler!

Also confirming I will definitely finish my U-title book before the end of the month.

Looking at the SS it looks like 0, 2, 4 and 6s. they should come up organically with the books that are left to be read for the mini, as they're pretty easy ones 😁

Tina ❣ (nutrinut) | 283 comments For the cards, we just have a 0 and a 8 red left. Lauri is covering the 8 red so we're just left with a 0 now

message 237: by Kelly (Maybedog) (last edited Feb 23, 2025 06:40AM) (new)

Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 154 comments The book I'm reading won't fit that but I'm sure someone's will. Otherwise I'll choose a standalone for my next book with a sword on the cover. Okay, that's rare... Books with swords don't tend to be standalone.

So I guess we shouldn't put anything on the spreadsheet that doesn't fit now?

message 238: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Kelly (Maybedog) wrote: "So I guess we shouldn't put anything on the spreadsheet that doesn't fit now? ..."

True. Unless you are adding something as you will finish it next round (March), but you don't need to add any more read books unless it fits the 0 or the mini task

message 239: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1020 comments I'll be finishing a 0 tomorrow (my U title book)

message 243: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1020 comments Ohhhhh! March cards have been revealed!

I'd like green 5, pretty please with sugar on top!

I'm also currently reading a blue 6 that I can drag out until the month ticks over 😉

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1505 comments Oooh, new cards. On first look -

I have a red book that could cover Red 1 or 3

And two books for Skip Green.

Also Skip Yellow

One of my green books has a major character Raoul of Vermandois - It's set in medieval times - does this name count as a Green V?

message 245: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments I'm waiting on Yellowface from the library, but it's going to be tight on if it comes in time to work for any of the yellow cards.

message 246: by Kelly (Maybedog) (new)

Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 154 comments I finally found a book with a gun on the cover, Sammy, if you are on the fence about or might not get to the one you've chosen for the mini. (It's funny because I read so much suspense and mystery and crime and urban fantasy and can't find guns or swords. Well, one gun.)

message 247: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1020 comments I'd just started one Kelly, but it is a re-read, and am happy to switch to the sword book instead!

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1505 comments Great team work ladies. 😊
