For Place - Is set in England specific enough?"

I believe the rule is that you use the "smallest" place setting, so England would be ok if they don't specify where in England it is set, but if it makes it clear it's set in London, for example, then london would be the setting to use.

Make sure you are clicking on the tracking spreadsheet, not the official one. :)
The tracking is open for anyone to edit

I'm trying to think of an urban fantasy cozy. The closest in my mind is Midnight Crossroad or maybe Clean Sweep? (both great series'). Do you have any examples / recommendations?

My husband wanted to get me a bookmark that said - I don't watch porn; I read it like a lady.

Haha yes, I often think if the contents of my kindle were made public, I'd be a bit embarrassed.

But hey I read literature as well. 😁

When can we start reading?

message 63: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments 1st Feb - Karen's first message on the first page has the times that it starts in a variety of time zones to make it slightly easier for us all.

I'm sorry. I don't mean to ask questions that have already been answered. I just got confused by something someone said. I remember that post now. I'll try to be better and look again before I leap. :)

Jonnie Deitz | 181 comments So sorry I seem to be late to the chats of the group. Life has been busy lately. I will go through the chats and catch up on what all I missed.

message 69: by Jonnie (new)

Jonnie Deitz | 181 comments For my belated intro post:

This is my second time in a UNO challenge. I have participated in a few challenges over the years. I am a mom of 2 and both of them are active in scouts. I do a lot of volunteering too. I am currently living in Oklahoma. I spent 3 years living in Brisbane (western suburbs), Australia and 4 years living in Lakenheath, England. I was in the Air Force and now work in the aviation industry. My husband and I are coming up on our 20th anniversary.

I have not watched Firefly. At this point I don’t really watch much T.V. so I may not ever get around to it.

I read a bit of a variety of books. Mostly free books from Kindle and Google book. I do like dystopian and thrillers mostly.

message 70: by Kelly (Maybedog) (new)

Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 154 comments It's wonderful but if you're not a huge fan of SF, it wouldn't be that interesting for you. Congrats on your anniversary!

Sorry my written messages can be more blunt than I mean them to be - especially at the moment when there seem to be 20 million different things going on.

message 80: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments I'm going to put on my February list
How to Stop Time by Matt Haig for the Wild Draw 4 (9 Blue)

I have had it on my shelf since 2017 so it will work for my cleaning out the closet challenge AND my Feb audiobook challenge of colour covers.
#win

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments I'm going to read Atlas The Story of Pa Salt (The Seven Sisters, #8) by Lucinda Riley to cover Blue 8. Has been on my tbr for quite a while and will feel good to finish off a whole series.

message 84: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1020 comments Question:

Will the books for the mini also need to be part of the UNO hands this year or not? (we've had both in the past if I recall correctly)
If yes, I'll save a good chunk of my books for the second half of the month. If not, I can jump in and churn 'em out right away 😉

message 85: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments It’s usually optional. So they can work for both or just for the mini (for example, if your normal hands are done)

message 86: by Tina ❣ (new)

Tina ❣ (nutrinut) | 283 comments Welcome Jonnie and Namita!

message 87: by Tina ❣ (new)

Tina ❣ (nutrinut) | 283 comments I tend to pick books depending on how I'm feeling at that time and what needs to be filled in the team tasks or other challenges, so I'm not sure what books I'll be starting with

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1020 comments Karen ⊰✿ wrote: "It’s usually optional. So they can work for both or just for the mini (for example, if your normal hands are done)"

Awesome. Otherwise I would have hung on until later in the month before throwing books around, as I only signed up with 15 😁

message 89: by Jonnie (new)

Jonnie Deitz | 181 comments I updated the tracking sheet with some of the books I have ready to read. I added the color highlights to the ones that can work for colors.

message 90: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1020 comments Because I'm now impatient to start re-watching firefly, I decided to wake up with this one this morning:

All-New Firefly The Gospel According to Jayne, Vol. 1 by David M. Booher

Much fun, but once again, Jayne looks nothing at all like Jayne. I'm beginning to think Adam Baldwin must be un-drawable, because this is becoming a thing with all the Firefly graphic novels!

Yeah that's weird. I had to figure out which he was by process of elimination. :)

message 92: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Interesting!
I'll have to see if there are any of those at my library as I think my 12 year old would enjoy them too

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1505 comments Going to be a scorcher in east coast Australia today, with Sydney over 40 deg C!!'🥵🔥

I've done all my chores early and intend to stay inside with the air con on and start finishing up all my outstanding books already to start UNO on Saturday night, our time.

message 94: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments It isn't pleasant. Yesterday was hot enough and we spent the whole day in the pool. But today is even warmer!
I'm in AC and it is meant to cool down to 29c by 5pm so may have a night swim!

message 95: by Kelly (Maybedog) (new)

Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 154 comments Oh that sounds awful!

message 96: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1020 comments We have cold, wet and miserable... Maybe if we shared the weather out between us a bit, we'd all have something more pleasant! 😆

message 97: by Kelly (Maybedog) (new)

Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 154 comments That would be good. But I have the cold wet and miserable which I prefer over the insanely hot. That would be why my sister lives in Australia and not me. :)

message 98: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1020 comments I wouldn't mind either so much if it wasn't a constant thing.

If I ever emigrate, I will move somewhere that has seasons!

(unlike our seasons which are: cold, wet and miserable, slightly less cold, wet and miserable, more cold, wet and miserable and really cold, wet and miserable!) 😆

message 99: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments I'm in the same type of climate as Sammy but fractionally further South so we do occasionally get a patch of sun but current status is cold, wet and windy.

I sometimes think the west coast of Canada would be good - clear distinction between winter (snow) and summer (sun) while hopefully not getting too boiling.

No, this Winter has been mild. No snow. We are going through a cold spell for the past two weeks.
Temps are below zero. Frost on the ground but no Snow. Frankly speaking, I'm disappointed. I love the snow.
