Thanks, both.I am going to add your books to the mini as I haven't heard from Namita and we are up against the deadline. I don't want to get distracted today and miss adding them!
I finished my first one for April
Which as a bonus also worked for my cleaning out the closet challenge (it has been on my tbr sicne 2017!)
Now I am finishing
which is not at all UNO friendly at 55+ hours of audio, but I only have 10 left :oThen I'll get onto my coloured covers!!
Teehee! I just finished
Not sure I'll catch up with you guys before you finish the series (too many other books to read for challenges!) but I'll give it a go!
You'll be caught up before anyone knows what has happened!Had a burst of finishing stuff and really hoping that I'll keep my reading mojo for a bit now.
This might work for a colour cover but I'm being indecisive about which. Might be orange or red (or neither of course).
The reading speed is not the problem... It's the 20k or so pages I have to get through before I can move on to book 4 😆
You've overtaken me! Oathbreaker is on the tbr but knowing me it'll be a year or so before I read it.

I felt like a little break between books 3 and 4, but my husband is reading them now and I can't have him overtake me, so I had to get a move on with book 4. lol And of course I am 75% in and so much ^&%^&%*& is going on that it is hard to put down.

I'd say red
1200 Pages?! They really couldn't break that down? I'm sure they'd get more readers and sell more books. Obviously people are reading it already and they're probably making tons of money, But even here Sophie wants to read it but is putting it off, I'm guessing because it's so long. The longest book I read was Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000. That was a long time ago. I just finished a 400 page, 14 hour audiobook that I could swear was longer... :)

In fact out of my top 50 books, more than half are over 600 pages, and most of those over 1000!
I consider anything under 450 pages to be short 😆
I don't want to have to pay twice as much to read them in two parts!
My longest book to date has been about 3000 pages, but I'm working my way through The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire this year, which is over 5000!

I've added your books Laurie. Could you also please add "I'm Mostly Here to Enjoy Myself" to your uno shelf when you can? :)
Sammy wrote: "My longest book to date has been about 3000 pages, but I'm working my way through The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire this year, which is over 5000!"That is a longggg book. How did you get through that and how long did it take? I struggle with more than 600 pages and more it goes on, the more fatigued I get
I'm still working on it! Right now I'm just reading a little here and there when I get the opportunity between monthly challenge tasks, but if I really needed to, I could probably read it in a week. But as anything over 1000 is useless for NBRC challenges, it isn't really worth doing that. I prefer to take my time with this! The 3000 pager I read over about 3 weeks, with some other books in between.
3000 pages?? What publisher allowed that? Was it self-published? Wow. The 5000 one I understand but I'm with Tina. I don't even look at anything over 550. I understand reading anthologies that were longer, but I'm not a fan of short stories and novellas. One that I was published in was 1200 pages. But then I think people just usually read the stories that interest them.
I generally tend to avoid self-published if I can. Unless I'm desperate for a challenge. The majority of self published authors don't use editors, and it shows. I don't have the patience for that!As for long books, the way I see it, there's not really much difference between reading one 800 page book, or two 400 page ones. It's the same amount of pages! I prefer the world-building, character development and intricate plotting that having more pages allows.
If you don't, that's perfectly ok too!
I'm generally pretty cosy in the 400-500 page space. But when it comes to fantasy I do prefer the longer books for the same reason as Sammy. You really get a chance to immerse yourself and it does take me a number of weeks to get through a chunkster. Where I get annoyed with longer books is when the editors have let the authors get away with it because it is a famous author (i.e. JKR and S King) and there are a few hundred pages too many

It's interesting that you mention time for development of character, etc. I think that's possible in shorter books as long as it's a series. But I agree, too, because it's why I don't really like short stories. They have no time to really develop a plot. For me, I have a really hard time putting a book down before I finish it. I don't generally read anything else until it's done. So I get tired of the story by the end of a long book. Also, I feel a sense of accomplishment when I finish a book so a shorter one gives me that. It simply gets the story over faster. It's like how I don't enjoy a cliffhanger, even though I could just read the next book right away. I want some closure sooner than 700 pages later.
I find that the longer a book is, the more storylines it has. Often those could be put in another book. Or too many characters for my little brain to keep track of.
I'm a fan of longer books. When I first started buying my own books I used to look in the shops for the biggest ones I could see on the basis they were better value for money! My problem more comes with keeping momentum on a series - I can read 2 in a row no problem, but then I want a chance in pace and world so read something else. Before I know it 5 years have passed and I've never made it back again...
That's a good point. On another note, the book I just read and posted qualified for nine cards and none of them were iffy, they were all main characters or main places. That's the highest number I've had!

Can you add these two books to your uno shelf please. Thanks!
Lisa, this is the book linked in the sheet, but I don't think we can count that for grey. I am using for a normal card unless there is another cover this should be for? https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...Also, with overload I had you down for black and brown. This one is greyed out in the s/sheet, but the cover looks dark green to me?https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Could you let me know if this should be for a coloured card? Thanks!

Laurie, have you read Recipe for Persuasion yet? I'm only asking because it's in the spreadsheet with no date and I'm worried that I or someone posted it for you and forgot to include the read date. I want to be sure it's counted if you've read it!
Just finished
, which I know you're likely going to want for the 5, but just in case you need to shuffle stuff around I promise you the cover is absolutely white, no blue whatsoever.I don't know if it's just a weird image thing, or if I have a version of the cover that isn't on GR, but there is no hint of blue in person. I showed it to three different people and asked them if they saw blue, and they all looked at me as if I'd gone mad. Comments about a visit to Specsavers being overdue may also have come up 😆

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) wrote: "That is sad news. 70 seems quite young these days.."I agree. Her partner said her "condition" deteriorated which kind of sounds like cancer to me rather than "old age." My landlord just turned 68, she's still working, and she mows the lawn and carries stuff up the very steep stairs to my room that I can't with my knee issues. My mom turns 82 this month and can also carry fairly heavy stuff up and down stairs. My dad is the same age and he still runs in races. So I have great genes that I'm effing up with my life habits.
But I hope I live longer than 70.
