You have a month and a half of jury duty!!! Omg.

SWZ, I'm not totally sure what 12 means. I assume it means where the title contains a word with a double consonant i.e. The Little Engine that Could. (tt being the double consonant)

If you prefer a different choice, I'll entertain that request.

Yes, that is a long time to have jury duty but that is how they do it in our district.

I am good with the #12 prompt. I agree with your "Little (tt being the double consonant) " example.

I am loving this list, right up my alley type books!

I have a question about the short story collection. Will a single author collection work, or should the stories be curated by an editor or panel? I’ll post this on the discussion thread.

The way I read it is that it is an edited collection (so not one author). But let me know what you end up thinking . . .after others chime in.

This is a prompt put in by me. It's just edited by a favorite author, not a collection of that author's short stories. Needs to be a collection of stories by different authors. Example: S.A. Cosby edited the The Best American Mystery and Suspense 2024: S.A. Cosby Edits the Newest Entry in the Renowned and Popular Story Series, Dive into the Year's Best in ... and Suspense. There are collections like this for many many genres, published annually, and with different editors each year. There are also ones like The Usual Santas: A Collection of Soho Crime Christmas Capers published by Soho Crime that feature its crime fiction authors and was edited by Peter Lovesey.

If you look at a list of a favorite author's books on Fantastic Fiction, you should find a section listing collections contributed to by the author. Some do many of these, some only one.

ETA: To clarify further - it has to be the short fiction of a specific year - all the works in the collection were published in the same specific year. The easitest to fine are from the Best Short Fiction series, but many other published collections fit the bill - edited by an author and all short fiction published in the same year. Often the author editing it does not have a work in the collection.

It's not just a collection of short stories - much narrower than that, though every genre has these collections edited by well-known and loved authors. I read an essay Barbara Kingsolver wrote in a collection of essays she published where she talked about the difficutlries of editing a collection.

It doesn't say it was edited by Corey, though it contains a story by him. The volume has to be a collection edited by a favorite author, not just put together by a publisher.

Looking on Fantastic Fiction, he's not edited any collections.
