Judy | 4065 comments Jessica, please make sure you mark the book as finished on goodreads too (and add it to your shelf)!

The Time to Relax mini challenge has now also officially started (with the start of Round 4 a few hours ago) and you can claim tasks just like with the other minis. The only difference is we can only finish it once and there's a completion bonus of 25 points!

Read a book:
- tagged bookclub at least 10 times
- with author initials in CITYBREAK
- with letters NIBLINGS in title / series / author name (across all of them)
- that features dragons
- where the title starts with a letter from BARBEQUE
- with a character who is neurodivergent
- tagged puzzle at least 5 times
- with author initials found in ENVIRONMENT
- with a character who does some sort of art (professional, hobby, with kids)
- with the letters DINOSAUR found in title/series
- from a genre that your library wouldn't stock*
- with a character who drives an electric vehicle
- that features a cocktail
- that features a beach holiday
- with author initials found in MOSAIC
- with a page number including either a 3 and 6 or 4 and 7
- where characters spend some time in a wood
- where the title includes the letters PARK
- with author initials in KNITTING
- with a sky on the bookcover
- where the title starts with a letter from COMFORTABLE
- set in a fictional world
- with author initials found in DECORATING
- that features one or more books
- out of your comfort zone

Notes:
* Get creative. If a book is listed on GR as Romance, but also is known to be furniture erotica that is acceptable as although Romance is in your library, my librarian isn't stocking Unhinged anytime soon.
- 'featured' can be in the story as part of the plot, or on the cover of the book

Bonus words: PANTS or CHIPMUNK

FULL INFO

message 303: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments what does furniture erotica mean? 🤔

message 304: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments Should we focus on the Time to relax mini first for this round?

message 305: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Alyana wrote: "what does furniture erotica mean? 🤔"

Unhinged is the book referenced, which is apparently erotica about a door. So while it's officially romance, it is actually erotica (about furniture) that you most likely wouldn't be able to find in a library

Doesn't really matter I think, whatever is more fun for you :)

message 307: by Jhmingos (new)

Jhmingos | 704 comments I think I can try to focus on the Time to Relax mini. The task of someone driving an electric vehicle might be tricky though.

I am at my best if I read with a target in mind but really just want to be as much help as I can.

It looks like the R's aren't registering from the round 4 page to the mini page.

message 309: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Thanks Rachel, should be fixed :) if you do want to go for it with the Time to Relax challenge, feel free! And I also think it wouldn't hurt if you wanted to look for some more countries (if you're not bored of them yet 😅)

message 310: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments I do have a book for Turkey as long as it fits the spell out and will look at the other countries still available.

message 311: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments Right, I knew I still had to enter the forms for the relax mini to 'work' but then got distracted apparently, sorryy!

I honestly thought I'd have more time for wheels than I ended up having for Book Games but turns out I'm even more exhausted and 'not here' (mentally) than I ever was. I also apologize for that :(

message 312: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments I am noticing that the information from round 4 is not popping up on the Feeding the Family mini challenge tab except for the book title. Sorry to be a pain.

Thanks Rachel, I thought I had fixed this earlier because I noticed it too, but apparently it didn't take. Getting really pissed with Google Sheets about this tbh, extremely annoying to have to do this every time 🙄

message 314: by Jhmingos (new)

Jhmingos | 704 comments Looks like Google Sheets is still not updating on the mini sheet. I've added some books and it's missing everything but the title.

Judy | 4065 comments Jhmingos wrote: "Looks like Google Sheets is still not updating on the mini sheet. I've added some books and it's missing everything but the title."

What the hell 😭 I re-activated every single field in that tab!!!

message 316: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments I just wanted to throw this out here in case anyone else was interested. I am currently reading The Travels by Marco Polo and it's really interesting. It was first published in 1298 (so nice bonus) and it's fascinating learning how he views different cultures that are different from his own. It has tags that works for Non-fiction, China, India and Italy for our mini challenge.

message 317: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I just have not been in the mood for reading at allllll all week. I'm sure I'll be fine and back to normal in a couple of days but right now I'm just not motivated to pick up anything at all :/

message 318: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments I am feeling the same way. I really want to find a book that really grabs my attention and that I am excited to read instead of books that are just okay.

message 319: by maria helena (new)

maria helena (mariahel) | 1924 comments I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump also, but I should finish a book later today.

message 320: by Jhmingos (new)

Jhmingos | 704 comments Wow, I thought I was the only one feeling this way. I'm usually not in a reading slump during the holidays but this year is different.

Were you reading Words of Radiance? I just finished it and it was awesome!! But I also don't know what to pick up next.

message 322: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments I have been thinking very hard on what to read for "from a genre that your library wouldn't stock" and because I don't read erotica I was thinking of books that are web fiction from sites like Royal Road or books that are fanfic. Do you think I am on the right idea?

Unfortunately the one I really wanted to read doesn't work for our spell out, and another is well over 1000 pages. I am going to spend some time today looking.

message 323: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Hmmm yes I think those should work - if it's not à la Ali Hazelwood or 50 Shades

message 324: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Vi wrote: "Were you reading Words of Radiance? I just finished it and it was awesome!! But I also don't know what to pick up next."

Yep I finished it at the very end of the last round! I loved it, it was amazing - will be starting the novella soon (and then hopefully book 3!)

message 325: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Also good to hear we're apparently all feeling the November slump - just bad timing during the challenge 😅😅😅

message 326: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments sorry for having gone AWOL the past week... I was traveling and exhausted and once I came back work was extra busy for 3 days straight so I was even more exhausted and of course I'm also in a reading slump....

message 327: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I'm determined to finish a book today but OF COURSE this was when I got a really time-consuming work task 🙃 but I'm optimistic I can get a bunch of quality time with my book (that I'm actually enjoying! in the few minutes I'm spending reading it each day....) later on

RachelG. | 339 comments We only need 2 more books to complete the Time to Relax mini challenge if anyone is deciding on a book to read:

author initials found in MOSAIC
title includes the letters PARK

Gardening is looking for:

Green cover color
#4 in series

I finished one with #4 series last Nov 28. It's on the sheet.

message 330: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments Thanks Alyana! I found it.

I tend to look at the minis first to see what is missing when determining my next book and with only 6 days to go I would love to see us finish as many of the minis as possible. I have 7 books left before I hit my limit so if there is a task others don't want please let me know. Tagged office is a tough one for me as I am not much of a romance reader.

message 331: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments @ Judy- I hate to say it but the gardening mini is back to not populating the info from the round 4 tab.

No problem. I just tend to gift as many reasons as I can for my book and leave the reason blank. Much better for the captains to decide where it fits best.

I have an ongoing series that is tagged office, but the book itself is tagged office romance. Would that work?

The book itself needs to be tagged office :/

I'll take on MOSAIC! The book I am finishing tonight works for it 🥳

message 337: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments That's weird. The first book of that series is tagged office, and then the book that I would like to pick from the same series is tagged office romance 🤔

message 338: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments I found a different book with office tag on my tbr so i'll take it. :)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 913 comments Are there any more specific tags needed?

message 341: by RachelG. (last edited Dec 05, 2024 06:50AM) (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments Administration
Plot revolves around an office romance
tagged non-fiction/nonfiction at least 10 times
MC works in taxes
MC works in finance
someone is murdered in an office

Feeding the Family
Nigeria at least 5 tags

Gardening
Green cover

Time to Relax
PARK in title - update: I will finish this one today.

message 342: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 913 comments I can read Flash which has a venture capitalist as male MC and the female lead's name is Olivia

message 343: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Thanks Rachel!

And that sounds great, Linda :)

message 344: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments None of my reading plans are working out, so I'm going to do a quick one for green cover!

message 345: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments I just finished the office tag book, I won't be able to update the sheet until later though.

message 346: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments I might have a book for the murder in an office and office romance but can't tell from the summary.

message 347: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments I think Jessica's current book works for the finance MC.

message 348: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I've added another round of the gardening mini - all books finished from now on can be used for that!

message 349: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I've tried finding something for Nigeria but nothing that sounds appealing to me and works for our letters (and won't take THAT long to read) is available at my libraries or on everand :(

message 350: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments I've got a couple of options for Nigeria so I'll take that.
