Vi | 1758 comments I also want to apologize - my job is new, long commute and they have blocked google docs - the combo of all that is making it difficult to check and update the spreadsheet regularly. It's easier for me to do in the weekend when I can sit with my own laptop. I hope to get into a rhythm soon.

That's good to know. I think I can finish a book that will work by tomorrow. Also, I don't think I'll get to Lorna Doone for Round 2.

Kate McDougall Sackler | 20 comments I have hit my cap, should I continue to add books, or just wait until the next round?

If you've finished them during this round, please add them to the spreadsheet! Then we can see which ones we can shuffle around to maximize points :)

All good Vi! If we know to only expect updates on the weekends that's fine, life happens :)

Just a reminder, this round ends in about 22 hours! Please make sure to log all your finished books in time so we can still double check everything and move things around if needed.

Also, do we have any takers for A6 - MC works in taxes? 🫣 It's the last one we need to be able to repeat the Administrative mini.

Other tasks still open to do the same with the Feeding the Family mini:
- F34 France *5 tags (@Laventeli unfortunately Mimmit doesn't have enough tags)
- F35 India *5 tags
- F36 Greece *5 tags
- F38 Thailand *5 tags
- F39 Korea *5 tags
- F40 Turkey *5 tags
- F42 Jamaica *5 tags
- F45 Southern Gothic *5 tags

If it's the Rosso one it won't work either due to the lack of tags unfortunately 🥲

would this work for the tax prompt?

I would say so! It's possible I even saw it on another team's sheet already ;)

I'll take this then but this would be for round 3. I found one for Jamaica too.

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments Is anybody going to volunteer to write DQs for The Mysterious Affair at Styles starting Nov 16? I unfortunately can't as I've read the book in August...

message 222: by Jhmingos (new)

Jhmingos | 704 comments I don't think the new spreadsheet automatically updates the mini-task (Column M). I just finished Conclave and it works for a black cover.

Works now, it just needed to be "activated"!

Ah right I was going to do that, thanks for the reminder :)

RachelG. | 339 comments For the minis do we continue to fill in the ones that we didn't get to last round in order to move onto a new set or do they start over each round?

message 226: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments I think we need to finish each mini before we can start over. I'm finishing the tax prompt..

message 227: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Yep they just continue as we continue - so we need to finish all the prompts for each mini before we can start a repeat

message 228: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments I am noticing that the mini ref #s aren't updating on the spreadsheet in the mini section. I have a book with france tags.

Like Judy said, turns out they ALL needed to be activated again, for whatever reason... thanks for bringing it to our attention!

message 230: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 913 comments In the gardening mini final SS, my book Corsets and Clockwork is listed for G16 Pest Control: word in title contains two letters consecutive in the alphabet. It works for RS in Corsets but the reason given on the sheet is LO - these are not consecutive letters. Can someone double check this?

message 231: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments We are getting close to finishing the first Feeding the Family mini challenge. We need Greece (at least 5 tags) and Thailand (at least 5 tags) so we can start a repeat. I will include links to the shelves here in case anyone wants to tackle these:

Greece
Thailand

message 232: by Vi (new)

Vi | 1758 comments I can do the Greece. Either a hqn (<200 pages) or maybe something by Rick Riordan.

message 233: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments Thanks Vi! I really like Rick Riordan but there is such a long wait at my local library. I am on the list for a couple of the books and hopefully one will be available at some point during wheels.

We can't edit the spreadsheet anymore; luckily it doesn't really matter as the book works (it's just the wrong reason).

message 235: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I've tried finding something for Thailand but nothing that looked good and doable was accessible to me :(

I'm really loving all the things I'm doing that keep me from reading nonstop but I also miss dropping everything and going soooo hard on a team challenge!

message 236: by Jhmingos (new)

Jhmingos | 704 comments I can do either Greece or Thailand. Just might take me a few days because I have to finish up some books.

I fixed it in the Gardening tab; I think it's fine as it was the correct book just an error with the reasoning, but technically the first round of gardening mini has already been locked in since we started a rerun AND the book in question was logged in a previous round so double locked. Can't happen again or we will lose A LOT of points 🙃

message 238: by Vi (new)

Vi | 1758 comments I need to finish up another book and then I'll attempt to start the The Lost Hero. It's been a while since I read it and I want to re-read before continuing the series.

@Jhmingos - could you do Thailand? I couldn't access any unless it's a guidebook 🙃

message 239: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments I checked out a couple Thailand books and have a few more on hold. My hope is that one of them will work. It seems like the mysteries aren't as cosy as the ones I tend to enjoy. I plan to focus on that prompt once I finish my Turkey book.

message 240: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments I thought I had one put on hold from the library but it's a Korean one instead :/

Rachel, can you point me to a couple of the mystery ones? Maybe I can get my hands on one of them. I don't need them to be cosy ;)

message 242: by Jhmingos (last edited Nov 12, 2024 09:24AM) (new)

Jhmingos | 704 comments Behind Closed Doors is a domestic mystery/thriller and it will work for Thailand (10 tags). It was one of the books I was looking into reading.

I was excited when I first saw this because the book actually is on my to-read shelf but then I started the audiobook and even later checked doesthedogdie.com and now I don't know if I want to continue it 🥲

message 244: by Jhmingos (new)

Jhmingos | 704 comments Good to know. I've never read anything by B.A. Paris but it was on my TBR.

message 245: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments My holds have come available and so I now have a book for Thailand and Greece. Should I work on these so we can finish up the feeding mini? I would think that I can get the Thailand one done today while I'm working and the greece one tomorrow.

message 246: by Vi (new)

Vi | 1758 comments I'm read the Greece now but your Greece will help with the next round I guess.

Go ahead and read them, Rachel :) even if we end up with two books for Thailand, we can probably use the other one for the next round of this mini

Just gotta make sure we finish them in the correct order 😅

message 248: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments @ Vi: Sounds good and I will save mine until the next round.

@ Judy: That was my thought as well. I am not going to start my Greece book until the next mini and can save the last couple chapters of the Thailand book until I see if it's still open for this mini or if I should save it until next. I am only 50% into the book as it is.

message 249: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments I've finished my Thailand book, don't finish yours now Rachel!

message 250: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Okay great! Christina said she'll finish her Thailand book tonight, so do hold off for that 😅
