RachelG. | 339 comments My problem with the BOM's are that they are often new releases with long wait times at my local library. I do plan to read Spellshop. I have been looking forward to that one.

maria helena (mariahel) | 1924 comments The BOMs are usually not my cup of tea either.

Ashleigh | 735 comments Rachel - could you add Swamp Spook to your shelf please?

Done. Sorry about that. I was trying to read and think at the same time and it wasn't working.

message 155: by Kate (new)

Kate McDougall Sackler | 20 comments So sorry, the fifth book in that series that I read the four books in isn't out yet! I don't think they can be used for the trellis prompt. Dang it!

message 156: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments I have been listing the books that work for series in my other options if we need to grab one. They don't all need to be from the same series to work.

message 157: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (destiny81583) | 24 comments Ugh...I HAD TO dnf the book I was reading...it was horrific! I am so sorry..I hope it doesn't mess us up at all. I never added it to the spreadsheet.

message 158: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments Now I wanna know what the book was though, Jessica! Please do share? ;)

message 159: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (destiny81583) | 24 comments Credence by Penelope Douglas!

message 160: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (destiny81583) | 24 comments I seriously got 350 pgs in..im so mad..but it was just tooooo bizarre for me

message 161: by Jhmingos (new)

Jhmingos | 704 comments Jessica, I read that too and I don't blame you haha. It's so crazy. Probably would be the perfect book for the DNF task in the mini.

Yep like Rachel said, they don't all need to be from the same series! We're just going to need something else that is book #5 in a series :)

message 163: by Vi (new)

Vi | 1758 comments I haven't added to the spreadsheet yet but I've read a #6 in series. Not sure if that will help.

message 164: by Zuza (new)

Zuza | 168 comments I am about to start Empire of Storms, which is #5 in the Throne of Glass series. And we have 8 more days of this round so it should be enough time for me to finish it 👍.

Judy | 4065 comments Zuza wrote: "I am about to start Empire of Storms, which is #5 in the Throne of Glass series. And we have 8 more days of this round so it should be enough time for me to finish it 👍."

Amazing, thank you!

message 166: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments @Zuza, The minis go until the end of the challenge anyway so even if you finish your book after the round ends we can still use it :)

message 167: by RachelG. (last edited Nov 01, 2024 09:47AM) (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments Are the dates for the rounds listed anywhere? I think I need to put them on my calendar so I know how long I have to get books on the spreadsheet. To be honest, I am having trouble listing things for the minis with the amount of books I am reading.

After making some food and thinking about it I think I need to get in the routine of adding 2 books to the spreadsheet every day and then I won't feel overwhelmed.

message 168: by Jhmingos (new)

Jhmingos | 704 comments Do the captains know what will be the colour covers for the Gardening mini section? I have a book I'm interested in reading, and it's a white cover. I was wondering if I should save it.

message 169: by Kate (new)

Kate McDougall Sackler | 20 comments Ok great! Reading a #5 now.

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments Jessica wrote: "Credence by Penelope Douglas!"

Just checked it out and uhm- this book definitely seems to polarize. I'm sorry it wasn't for you but I 100% can see why.

It's any cover that's 50+ % of one colour, no specifics (except for the green and the brown). We've already added quite a bunch to those tasks actually so you're more than welcome to read your white book ;)

From the Gardening mini post:
"Bloom:
Read 10 books with colour covers (50%+) to reflect the colours in your flowers.
MUST include 1 brown and 1 green colour."

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments @Rachel can you explain what you mean with the mini reason "newspapers clue mystery" for Mingling with Murder please? + House of the Rising Nun is missing from your shelf :)

message 173: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments The clue for solving the mystery was in the newspaper archives at the local newspaper office. I didn't know if that was what the task was looking for rather than the clue being found in financial documents or something.

Yeah I'm afraid that doesn't count as paperwork unfortunately. Would have loved if it did lol.

Forgot about this - countdowns are on the Summary tab of our official spreadsheet, but I can't give you exact times right now as we had a time change last weekend. Cut-off seems to have stayed the same for me though as the UK also returned to standard time apparently.
Am I correct that the US will have the time change this weekend as well? If so, it'll end up being the exact same time as last week for you too, Saturday 9pm UK time as stated in the rules.

message 176: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments Yes we will have time change by Sunday after midnight.

message 177: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments Thank you Christina!

message 178: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 913 comments I am reading a collection of 13 stories. Is the editor the only name I use for author? In this case Trisha Telep, which doesn't match our letters, or can the individual story authors also count? And for Characters, can the MC in any of the short stories count? I don't think I saw any rule covering this, but I might have missed it.

message 179: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Yes, editor is the only name for author.

Characters are a bit more complicated and I don't 100% remember the last ruling on this, so I'm checking (but I think we can't use them...)

message 180: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 913 comments If you find that I can't use characters and the title and author don't work, then I just have to pull it, right?

Judy | 4065 comments Linda C wrote: "If you find that I can't use characters and the title and author don't work, then I just have to pull it, right?"

Just got a reply, yes you can use MCs from the individual stories!

message 182: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 913 comments Thanks. Glad I can use MCs in stories

message 183: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments @Alyana - you've got the hardcover edition of One of Us is Dead shelved, but you've also got it on an Audiobook shelf, and you've put the narrator names down on the planning ss.

Did you listen to the audiobook edition? If so, could you change it to that edition and we'll use it for the narrator name.

message 184: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments I always listen to the audio but I shelve the edition that has the page count so I can track my reading. Should I still switch it?

message 185: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments For these types of challenges, you need to shelve the edition you read.

message 186: by Jhmingos (new)

Jhmingos | 704 comments Does anyone have a link for books that have been tagged office? I can't seem to find a book that would have it other than office romance books.

message 187: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...

Turns out HP1 and 50 Shades 1 have both been tagged office 10 times 😂 but yes almost all of the other ones are office romances...

message 188: by maria helena (new)

maria helena (mariahel) | 1924 comments I have two books left on the tracking sheet and I will definitely finish those two before the end of this round.

Judy | 4065 comments

We have received our Round 2 word: UNBLOCKING THE U-BEND

message 190: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments Here comes the U's!

message 191: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments I actually have a U book planned so it's good timing. I also found a U series that I have been wanting to try out.

message 192: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I've been saving a couple just for this moment, too hehehe

message 193: by Christina (last edited Nov 07, 2024 07:32AM) (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments @Vi, I'm grabbing books off your read shelf again. Please make sure they're on your wheel shelf. We could have used that green cover book a long time ago but I moved some books around earlier haha. Hope everything's okay.
Also, are you going to take part in the BOM discussion for The Spellshop since you've read it? https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 194: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments @Christina?- Good catch on the cover. That is a computer on the cover of A Slip of the Keyboard and I think would work for the task! I didn't even notice.

message 195: by RachelG. (last edited Nov 07, 2024 09:51AM) (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments I didn't notice this before but would the word "Mingling" from the book I read Mingling with Murder work for G20?

One of the books I am about to start has pasta and could be in Mingling's current spot if so.

message 196: by Christina (new)

No need to move anything, your new 'pasta' book also repeats two letters ;) and once you finish it we can repeat the Gardening mini!

message 197: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 339 comments Thanks Christina! For some reason I didn't notice the two letters in the new book were repeated. It's funny how a mind can just skip over what's in front of your face sometimes.

I've been on the lookout since yesterday haha, and yes the computer task note was me - I've been trying hard to fill up the mini tasks so we can finally start one over.

message 199: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments ohhhh hold on there are repeat letters in one of Vi's books!!

-- new Gardening mini starting over in a sec!!

message 200: by Vi (new)

Vi | 1758 comments Yeah, I was planning on doing the book addition and everything tomorrow. I think I read more than 7 again (what a problem, huh!) so I wanted to get the best 7 off.

Another reason why I didn't add them to wheel shelf. Can I add all of them or only 7 books? I will do the BOM discussion tomorrow evening and add them to the spreadsheet.

I think the green cover book (is it Only Hard Problems?) was short so I didn't think of counting it for the challenge.
