PtP R23 - Night of the Living Bread (7)

2. Baton (Captain) - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)
3. Name your team. Using this round's theme, come up with a fun name. Given we are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)
Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 3 October
4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2. (It will also help with one of the categories in this round!)
5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!
* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.
You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.
I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.
Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.
6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation, etc.
7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.
8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.
9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)
10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A/Announcement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.
The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week Option 2 has altered and I will be allocating each team another team from which their book selection must be chosen :)

For selection post Option 1 you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
How the book qualifies - please note which qualifying bookshelf/list you are using or the tags that justifies that it works.
If the theme is based off the bookcover, post the cover. If there is a letter count in the title, publication date etc, please note these details.
For selection post Option 2 you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.
For selection post Option 3 you must have:
Week #
PASS
For the completion post you must have:
Week #

Rating (1-5)
Review
Please DO NOT CHAT in these selction/completion posts. It needs to be super clear.
If you 'waffle' about your decided book - please REPOST your selection once you decide. DO NOT go back and edit your waffling post.
IF YOU NEED TO CORRECT A POST FOR MISSING INFORMATION or because the didn't qualify etc, please REPOST this information in a NEW post, particularly when the request is more than a day old. Its difficult to find older posts when going backwards in the threads.

The Bread -Maker Reader.
Bread Factory & Books
Sourdough and Book
BBF - Books, Bread, & Friends

I'm Kat. I live in the mountains of SoCal with my hubby. It is beautiful and we get seasons - which I love. It does leave us with an hour drive to get groceries or for any appointments. Lost of car time equals lots of audiobook time! 😊 Our kids are all grown and gone with kids of their own. We currently have 4 grand littles with another joining the group during this challenge! So I will be out of town to meet him towards the end. I will have my computer, so no problem with keeping up with things.
As for my reading tastes, in case you want to use Option 2, I read just about anything as long as it is romance! I try to read a little of several genres every month. I tend to shy away from Inspirational and YA though. I'm way too old to deal with high school drama in my entertainment! 😂

Hmmm, maybe something about sour characters... I will think on that.

Looking forward to this challenge. I'm in Phoenix (so no seasons for me) :( I am an empty nester this year for the first time (both my kids are in college) so I bought a smaller house that's perfect for just me. I work from home as a financial analyst and I'm retired military. I read a lot of MM but also some MF. I will read a lot of different genres except YA (I'm also too old to deal with high school drama). My favorite genre is paranormal and fantasy as long as it has at least a little romance in it.

Night of the Living Bread

I am in SoCal, so Pacific time. I am on GR periodically throughout the day. 😊
And I love the name ideas too! But for whatever reason "Night of the Living Bread" is my favorite. I would be happy with the others too.

I am PurpleLadi. I am a proud USAF Veteran, Founder/CEO of Camp Dori Inc. an educational nonprofit, Mom, Nana, and Educator. I enjoy traveling, cooking, photography, dancing, and reading. This will be my 2nd time participating in PTP, so technically I am still a partial newbie.
I am in the US on eastern time zone. I am looking forward to contributing to this winning team while learning more about each of you.

I love anything romance, and read all genres, including YA, since I work with adolescents, but prefer to stay away from horror 📚

My name is Avigail, and I am from Israel (right now, I am in Northwest Greece on vacation and returning home tomorrow).
I read everything that fell into my hands, and September was a slow month reading-wise, but I enjoyed the books I read.
I have played several PTP rounds and look forward to playing on this team.
As for names for our team's name, I would like to suggest
1. The Bread -Maker Reader.
2. Bread Factory & Books
3. Sourdough and Books
I am open to other name suggestions; we don't have to use the above ones.

Re: Greece - so cool! I’m going to Greece on a girls trip for a bachelorette in 2 weeks. We’re all very excited!

I read a variety of genres, but am usually partial to mysteries and crime fiction. Love fantasies and historical fiction too! Not a fan of YA either :)
I’m trying to get used to returning to work 5 days in person. It hasn’t been great but I’m hoping I’ll eventually fall into the rhythm.
Looking forward to another fun round of this challenge :)

I am sorry Hurricane Helene🌀 put a damper on your plans. My new name should be Mary Ann, since we were stranded on our own island 🏝 with no power🔋 Our street and our driveway was flooded from Wednesday evening to about 1am this morning. Georgia Power were finally able to restore our power today around 12 noon. 🔋 Thank goodness for cell phones with unlimited data, and external battery chargers. No one was hurt and I was able to complete five and a half books 📚🤗

What did you do in the AF? I'm retired Air Force and I loved almost all of my 20 years serving. Glad you guys are alright though it sounds like there was some tough times.

I was super stressed during Helene all the way from California! My son and DIL work at the university in Valdosta and they got a direct hit. Helene was still a Category 1 then, even that far inland! They are ok, and I don't believe their home had any damage. I'm pretty they don't have power yet, but they are on the same circuit as a hospital, so usually get power back pretty quickly. Cell service is very spotty too, so we are not getting much info. The city is a mess though! She is almost 8 months pregnant and they have a 5 year old - I can't imagine dealing with either through a storm like this and then the recovery!
My daughter and her husband own a home on Lake Sinclair too. I just found out they didn't have any damage. One tree down, but away from the house. My father and his wife are another hour north from there. Along with family and friends in Charlotte and Knoxville, it felt like that storm was a personal attack to those I care about!

Thanks 😊 We are all good, but still no internet.
I was a Maintenance Data Systems Manager (IT/ Statistics)/ Technical Training School Instructor while in the USAF.

Yes, Georgia, North & South Carolina are all still in recovery mode. I Pray all continues to be well with your family members, especially your DIL. It is a blessing that they are all safe and alive. It is hard to lose possessions, but they can eventually be replaced, but lives are irreplaceable.

I find the app to be practically useless, but I do see notifications come in. I can't always check what they are...

Enjoy your trip. Only letting you know that even though people live in Milos & Santorini all year long the islands will be quieter this time because all the summer vacationers returned back home.
