Thanks - sounds good! Horror is hit or miss for me but I don't mind trying it."

Be warned if you do try it, its very slow and gothic but I never felt bored. I only read it as slowly as I did because it was my office lunch break book rofl

Melissa | 3779 comments If your book fits more than 1 Mini spot can you add it to the Main Round 1 Tab? No need to add details, if we need to move it we'll ask for them. Thanks! :)

@Trisha - Sounds good!

@Nick - hahaha ok thanks for the heads up!

Dawn | 375 comments Tried adding my current read and planned read to the SS- hope I didn't muck it up!

Also is Iron Flame (The Empyrean, #2) by Rebecca Yarros orange enough for the mini challenge? Wasn't sure if a brownish shade instead.

message 260: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments I know we clarified to put mini challenge books on the main SS for points. Are we able to use each book for BOTH a task and one of our "needs"? Or do we pick mini or shelter/food, etc?

message 261: by Nick (new)

Nick Vallina (MisterGhostReads) (mister_ghost) | 110 comments Voted :D

for a book I already am planning to read soon so it would be HELLA convenient if it was a BOM...especially because all of the recent BOM choices are books I've already read and don't want to reread haha

message 262: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments @Stacey- Yes we can use each book for our main tasks and for the mini.

@Nick- it’s always convenient when you WANT to read the BOM!

message 263: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments Thanks for voting team!

message 264: by Melissa (last edited May 31, 2024 07:16PM) (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments Here’s a few lists to check for Idaho books

https://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8...

Make sure you check the actual book is set in Idaho. When I was going thru there were quite a few that looked like they were set somewhere else.

There’s an entire list for our M/M readers if you’re interested :)

message 267: by Leslie Ann (new)

Leslie Ann | 941 comments I started the Way of Kings. I am trying to read a little each day , in between my audible books. It may take me awhile. I am really liking it so far. : )

message 268: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments I'm waiting for it to come in from the library. If it doesn't come in soon I'm going to look for the ebook.

message 269: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments @Louise - how did you like A Darker Shade of Magic? That’s one of my favorite series!

message 270: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 182 comments I keep finishing books and then forgetting to put them on the SS and then several days go by and end up playing the game of "did I or didn't I?" Ugh!

message 271: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments The easiest way to check is to look at the main ss summary tab and compare your read books number to the number that’s on your shelf.

Anything that’s on the main ss is hidden on the tracking ss just to make it easier for us. But if you need to unhide the rows to double check yourself go ahead. I’ll rehide them whenever I’m back in there. :)

Samantha | 507 comments Hi team, just checking in! It's been a busy couple of days between work and having guests in town this weekend.

I hope you love The Way of Kings @Leslie Ann! It was one of my first Brandon Sanderson books and I really enjoyed it.

I'm currently participating in another reading challenge and I'm on a spooky team so reading all the mystery/thriller/suspense books lately.

message 273: by Nick (new)

Nick Vallina (MisterGhostReads) (mister_ghost) | 110 comments I'm so excited to get to Stormlight! After having read Mistborn like 6 times before continuing with the second book (I just LOVE The Final Empire SO MUCH) I finally decided to get through ALL of the Cosmere.

I'm 2/3 of the way through Elantris and then I have to read some short bois out of Arcanium Unbounded and then I get to read Warbreaker which I'm SUPER excited about. It seems SO FUN.

Natasha | 1140 comments Hello everyone. Just checking in. I had a conference on Thursday and Friday and had a busy weekend. I added the book I finished to the spreadsheet.

@Nick - I've been reading Brandon Sanderson books recently. I read The Way of Kings and loved it. I'm going to start reading The Well of Ascension in a day or so.

I loved The Well of Ascension and The Hero of Ages. Its all SO GOOD.

message 279: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments Later today I’ll post the open Mini spots but if you get a chance check out the spreadsheet and claim what you can!

We do need some location Crete and Idaho books for any who are looking for something to read. At least 50% of the book has to take place in the location.

Nick Vallina (MisterGhostReads) (mister_ghost) | 110 comments I've got a quick question....
So I'm reading a non fiction book about assisted death in America.

Would Seconal (the drug that euthanizes people) count as a weapon....? maybe?

Melissa | 3779 comments We're up to date on the Main SS.

@Sunny -
A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking, I'm not able to confirm word count on this one so we won't be able to use it.
Wishtree, word count is under 25,000 so we won't be able to use this one either.

Sorry!!

I tried to find a page count to verify and I wasn't able to. ARBookFinder doesn't have it listed and since it's Middle Grade on MPG so I have to verify. I'll check with the Captains group.

message 288: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments Double checked with the captains and since the audio is more than 3 hours we are good to use it!

message 289: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments Is anyone planning on reading The Wishing Game for BOM? I need a backup for DQs in case I get picked. I have to wait until July 7th to read it (6 month rule) so fine for the game but not so fine for DQs lol

Supply Drops from District 6
Howdy District 9, we've dropped 2 books off for you, but I realized I didn't tell you what their uses are (I'm sure you have guessed though).

The Hunger Games works for all resources:
Weapon: Bow and arrow, spears, knives
Shelter: MC shelters in cave during games
Food: MC hunts for food / "Hunger" in title
Defense: MC must defend herself from tributes

The Malevolent Seven works for all resources:
Weapon: Sword on the cover
Shelter: MC uses a tent for his spells
Food: The group are offered scones
Defense: Magic is used defensively
