Not sure what I'll read first. I'm finishing up a couple that I have in the works now and then I'll see what calls to me.
The rest of the Throne of Glass series is calling to me LOL but I have to read The Malevolent Seven first because it’s due back at the library.
Getting excited, finished up my book today so ready to start something new tomorrow!
I finished both books I was reading today. I’m going to be reading A Great and Terrible Beauty for another challenge. I’m hoping it’ll fit, but I’m going to be starting an ebook tomorrow as well. Just have to go through them and see what’ll fit.

Hey all, unfortunately have 2 books in progress. But might just drop them to start something new while traveling. Got my son’s graduation this weekend , so not much reading time this week 😔 hopeful I can get back to normal next week

Hey all. Conveniently I have another weekly challenge that causes us to start a new book every Wednesday so my first that will count for this is the queer Emma retelling Emerett Has Never Been in Love. Only 262 pages but what else can we expect from a romance? haha
On the Hunger games buddy read - do we need to link our comments for points somewhere, or are we just trusting that we participated?

Thankfully the book I'm reading, A Great and Terrible Beauty, works for weapon (since it mentions a knife).

"Informal buddy reads will be held for the original trilogy of the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. One informal buddy read for each month of the challenge.
Informal buddy reads means there will not be formal discussion questions as with our groups BOMs.
However, in order to earn the 20 points for participation, players need to post at least 3 posts that provide a reasonable contribution to the discussion of the book. You do not need to provide a school worthy book report, but the posts need to be more than "Katniss is awesome" or "I love this book" to count for participation points.

Yep. I'm just asking if we have to put links to our comments in the SS anywhere like for the BOMs. I don't see a place for that right now.

Stacey you can add it to the BOM tab. I’ll add them as an option to the drop down menu when I’m on my computer later today so you can just write them in for now.
I see some have put more than one choice down for the "How if fits section." Should we all be doing that? Or just pick one?
You can put down however many places it fits. This way we’ll have more options to choose from.

Are you editing the tracking spreadsheet or the main one? The Main one is only for Captains to edit.

Anyone have strategy ideas? Should we stock up on defense or offense? Do we want to go hungry but be sheltered? Or try to balance out all 4 options?
Supply DropsEveryone needs a little help from a friend (or sponsor).
Supply drops consist of books read by the sending team to be used in a way chosen by the receiving team within specified criteria.
Teams have been paired up for the duration of Book Games and are allowed to send up to 3 supply drops each to their partner team per round. This is not required - your team could decide to not send any supply drops. But if that's your team's choice, your partner team could decide to do the same.
Paired teams are allowed to coordinate with requests for books which would be most helpful to the receiving team. However, the sending team ultimately gets to decide which books are sent as supply drops.
Sending Team
The sending team chooses up to 3 books to send to the recipient team each round. These can either be 3 random books or books that meet specific needs of the recipient team.
The books can be sent any time during the round and the books do not have to be sent at the same time. That being said, it would be most helpful to the receiving team if the supply drops were received early enough in the round to decide how best to use the books for their team.
The sending team logs the supply drop books on the respective round's book log, puts the books in an appropriate resource category, and receives page points for the books sent. However, the books sent for supply drops cannot be used for other tasks. The appropriate code for supply drops is added to the mini reference column.
Supply drop books cannot be sent until they have been read by the sending team.
Receiving Team
The receiving team can choose from a variety of options on how to use the supply drops. But once used, they are locked in and the supply drop books cannot be moved to a different spot.
Supply drops can be carried over into future rounds but can only be used for mini challenge tasks in the round they were sent.
- Mini Task: Supply drop books must work for the mini task they're being used for. This includes the read date being within the timeframe of the mini challenge.
How to log this on the spreadsheet: add the book to the appropriate round's book log, enter 0 for the page number, select "Supply Drop" as the resource category, then enter the appropriate mini reference code.
- Additions to resource piles: Supply drop books must meet a requirement of the resource pile.
How to log this on the spreadsheet: add the book to the appropriate round's book log the same way you enter any other book read by your team, select the appropriate supply drop code in the mini reference column.
- Protecting supply piles: Supply drop books must fit into that category AND have some type of shield/defense. These would need to be separate. So if you want to use a supply drop book to protect your defense supply pile, the book needs to fit into the defense category in 2 different ways.
How to log this on the spreadsheet: add the book to the appropriate round's book log, enter 0 for the page number, select the resource category you'd like the book to protect in column F and provide the reason why the book meets that pile's requirements in column G. Then add the appropriate supply drop code in the mini reference column in column H and provide the reason why the book meets the defense resource criteria in column I. Protection (column G) and defense (column I) must be two different reasons.

We can go light on food, it’s okay to be skinny.. lol . We need weapons and defense? Any other ideas???
Can I ask what the goal is? Will we be competing against other teams at some point? Are there going to be challenges or something that will deplete our stocks? Are we just trying to have the most of all of them? I'm confused on the endgame. Sorry.

I will reread the rules and see if I can figure it out. Melissa or Louise do you know?
It's alright Stacey I am also confused on the endgame LOLI thought this was a brand new game but maybe it's a version of something they did in the past? I'm going to assume at some point we'll have to battle for something so probably a good idea to build up some defense first.
There will be mini challenges throughout - they are the last 2 weeks of each round. In the past, books used for the main game are also allowed to be used for the Mini (so we don't need to read an extra 50 books or so to participate in the mini) I'm not sure how they will be incorporated though.
I wonder if page count will matter.....Maybe we should use the bigger books for defense and weapons this round and see if it makes a difference? IDK thoughts?
Sorry for all the separate thoughts LOLClearly we need to stockpile our "supplies" so make sure you are adding as many options as you can for each book on the tracking spreadsheet!
Okay - trying to summarize this in one go. Sorry my brain gets all over the place when new information comes out.
With the first surprise of the game being Supply Drops more information is given to us.
To summarize Supply Drops - we are teamed up with District 6 and we can request they provide us with 3 books for this round. Those 3 books can be used in a couple of different ways:
-Mini Task: Supply drop books must work for the mini task they're being used for. This includes the read date being within the timeframe of the mini challenge. This is District 6 supplying us with a book to use for a Mini spot.
- Additions to resource piles: Supply drop books must meet a requirement of the resource pile. This is District 6 supplying us with a book to use for one of our resources.
- Protecting supply piles: Supply drop books must fit into that category AND have some type of shield/defense. These would need to be separate. So if you want to use a supply drop book to protect your defense supply pile, the book needs to fit into the defense category in 2 different ways. This is District 6 supplying us with a book that would work as protection for one of our resources. For example: If we choose to use a book to protect our Weapons, the books must fit into the Weapons category 2 separate times (Sword on cover and knife in text or whatever)
As the Supplier, we would have to do the same for District 6 based on what they are requesting from us. We can choose to accommodate their request or be mean and... not. LOL

My thoughts are to focus on Defense, Weapons, Shelter, and Food in that order. Does anyone agree, have a different opinion?

I have a question about using title and author/character initials.letters of weapon in title does this mean that if I have a book that starts with for example the letter W it can be used for weapon, or does all the letters WEAPON need to be in the title, or just any of the letters anywhere in the title?
author or main character initials in weapons does both first and last name initials need to be in WEAPONS or is one initial enough?

@Melissa When it says "shelter letters in title" does that mean the letters of SHELTER or like the letters of a type of shelter (for example, HOUSE)
