Alternative - 67. Africa
What does everyone want to do? Shall we stay or use some bonus points?
This is what the other alternatives would be:
67. Africa - if we stay
68. Set in space - 1 bonus point
69. Cover Item: Lamp/Candle - 2 bonus points
70. Published 2022 - 3 of our bonus points

I don't have a preference on number. Like Laura, I'd like to get Stormie's input to see what she has available that would fit for the alternate tasks.

I will say, if she decides she doesn't have an Africa task she wants to use, I would prefer to only use 1 bonus point or 2 at the most as she may need the other one for one of the next rolls. Other than using all the bonus points, I will vote the way Stormie does.

Thanks..I hope you are feeling better."
Thank you. Girl I've been sick for over a week with this sore throat, cough, stuffy head & can't breathe thing that my wonderful husband, Hulk brought home from work. I have several autoimmunes so it takes me FOREVER to get over something. My Doc sent me in some antibiotics so hopefully I'll be better in a next week.

Oh damn. Hope you get some relief soon!

Thanks..I hope you are feeling better."

Ugh, it's the absolute worst! I'm a PreK teacher and I feel like I've been sick for a minimum of half the year with those walking petrie dishes carrying who knows what. With the autoimmune stuff, it definitely doesn't help. fingers crossed the antibiotics do their work <3

Samantha and Mamacita, I hope you feel better soon!
I will look to see what I have. I don't think I have anything for Africa, but I will check. I know I have a lot of 2022, but I do not want to use all the bonus points.
I have a museum shift today so I will go through my list and post what I have/what I can make work. :) It will be a few hours, but I will post as soon as I am able.

Yikes..Are you feeling better today?

Even I looked at those alternate tasks and went yikes!

Thanks..I hope you are feeling better."

Hopefully the antibiotics will kick the crud right out of your system. It's tough when you have other issues as well. I thought you might have been sick when there was no review, especially no animated review. I look forward to those. I debated on sending you a pm because I figured you might have been sick and I didn't want you to think I was trying to be pushy and a pain in the tush.

Target is in the other direction of where I have to go 😭😭😭

No, it is in the store as well. I have a bunch of books in my Target cart to buy, but not likely until next week, but the sale would probably be over by then.
on another note: I am going through my library books now (I have over 62 out) and checking Goodreads data to see what I can use for this week.

I haven't checked the Space Books list yet, but I do have one out that has an MPG of Space Opera. I will see if I have something from there.---

Thanks..I hope you are feeling better."

Not at all. I appreciate the PM!!!

Oh yes. Tell him you at least need a Sonic drink if nothing else. Maybe he'll take you out for supper.

It was Dunkin Coffee before the tax place, Japanese Habachi for dinner, and a trip to the grocery store.

Hows the hunt going?

How qualifies ~ Black Dagger Brotherhood Series #6.5
This is a Novella in the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series about Z coming to terms with being a father. It threw him for a loop almost losing Bella during the delivery which brought all his past trauma to the surface.
With Nalla's book releasing I felt I needed to re-brush up on Z and Bella's story because this book of hers is going to have their characters heavy in the spotlight. Translate reading these last two books in the series made me really want to start the whole Black Dagger series over again but thankfully my bestie talked me out of starting all over. LOL

Ikr! Are you caught up to read The Beloved

I am reading the absolute best series and if y'all have not read it you have got to pick up the first book.

The Bonds That Tie Series
The first book is Broken Bonds. I literally read the second book, Savage Bonds, which is 500 pages in less than 12 hours.

Any time I do a challenge outside of AMMP/Game Night I make a note in my records of what the page count requirements are, because I've done this before, too. I think it was in SOS Bingo.

Review
I don't usually read the Space Opera genre, but this book was hard to put down. The M/C Esek Nightfoot was a bit too violent for my taste, but the story was captivating. I believe the children are trained in schools and until they graduate, usually around 17 or 18, they are nameless and genderless. They have a number, one-six, so there are six students at a time, and the master calls them by their number. This book focuses on four and six. Four becomes a female and goes by Chrono. Six wants to go by They/Them and keeps the name Six. Esek Nightfoot comes to the school and has the children (Fourth-years) fight for her entertainment. Later, we see that Esek has taken Four/Chrono as a novitiate for about two years.
The book weaves back and forth between what happened over the years as Esek loves to kill anyone who crosses her, and what her family did to another race/moon called the Jevetites. Their moon was blown up for a mineral; some survived and were sent to a work colony for the Nightfoot family.
They have different careers, such as clerics, cloaksaan (guards I think), secretaries (law), castors, pirates, etc. I didn't care much for the violence but am anxious to see how this all plays out.

Book: Alien: Covenant

Pages: 352
How it fits: Set in space
Rating: 5/5
I'll be honest... I hated Alien. It was too sci-fy boring to me and it felt like a movie for old people. Like the idea of how people in the 80s thought the future would be like. But the book everyone!! The book!!! The book was amazing. I can see why everyone was once obsessed with Alien.

I think it's your turn to roll this week. Did you still want to?"
Yes. I just need to finish my book post. I'll have my review done in a min then I'll ck back in to see when everyone else gets theirs done & you have your weekly post done.

Book - The Desolations of Devil's Acre
Author - Ransom Riggs
Date - 4/19/24
Week 9
Spot - 68
Rating - 5 Stars
Pages - 528
How it fits - Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children #6
Review - We are on the final book in The Peculiar Children's series and things are not looking good for the Peculiar's in Devil's Acres. The Ymbrynes are working overtime to try and keep all the portals in the Acre sealed so that Caul and his hollowgasts can't get in and slaughter everyone. Meanwhile Jacob and his crew have had to leave the acres to round up all the children of the light because they are the ones foretold in the prophecy who will be the only ones that can defeat Caul and send him back where he came from.
This was such a fun book with a ton of action and a few twists. You were never sure what would happen next. This has to be one of my most favorite series ever. I love the originality and I'm a bit sad that it has ended.

Week #8 ~ Spot # 68
Book ~ Securing Jane 3.5* ✔️ 4/19
Author ~ Susan Stoker
Pages ~ 158 pages
How qualifies ~ SEAL of protection: Legacy #6.5
Review ~ this is one of the few friends to Lovers / older couple romances I have. I'm actually on book #6 of the series but I needed a shorter book because I've already read one that I thought worked but it wasn't long enough and I'm in a hurry to get back to my five star series I've been reading.
Commander North is the Commander for our SEAL Teams and I love that he's getting a book. Jane directs the mail department on the base & even though they've seen each other and know each other they haven't been involved with each other. After a bomb goes off in the mail room and they have to find out who the bad guy is and Jane needs protection, Commander North steps up.

You have till midnight CST, 1 pm EST
You still have some time.

How it fits: New York Ruthless #6
Review: I shouldn't be surprised. The books in this series have more smut than plot. But this one was special. It's a collection of short stories set after the main action of the series is over. As such, there is no plot at all. It's all sex. So I had to knock off a bit on the rating for the lack of plot. :)

Week 7, #57
Alternate: Published 2016-2020
Book: Verity
Author: Colleen Hoover
Rating 5 stars
How it fits: published in 2018
Review:
Lowen is on her way to a meeting when she sees someone hit and killed by a vehicle. She is covered in his blood and a man stops to help her by taking her to a coffee shop so that she can clean herself up. He gives her his shirt to wear as hers is covered in blood. She manages to make her meeting on time only to discover she was told to be there a half-hour earlier. The meeting is with the man she met on the street who gave her his shirt. His name is Jeremy Crawford. He wants to hire her to finish his wife's, Verity, contract with the publisher.
Lowen Ashleigh is a writer, but she has spent the last six months taking care of her mother who had cancer. She has no money coming in and is about to be evicted from her apartment. She agrees to finish out the series that Verity started. So, she goes with Jeremy to Vermont to go through his wife's office so that she can get started. Jeremy's wife had an accident and is catatonic (or so they think). While she is trying to find Verity's notes, she comes across a manuscript that is an autobiography with some damaging confessions.
Jeremy and Verity had twins Chastin and Harper. Verity was jealous that Jeremy loved the girls more than her. But she came to love Chastin more while he loved Harper more. Both girls had died, Chastin from a peanut allergy, and Harper was drowned. Harper had Aspbergers, but she still felt that she killed Chastin. Verity had tied to kill Harper when she was a baby by sticking her fingers in her mouth, but was almost caught by Jeremy. They had a son, Crew, who had a bit of psychotic or is it sociopathic tendencies as well. Anyway, Lowen starts to get creeped out, because she correctly suspects that Verity is faking her condition. Jeremy doesn't believe her at first, but then he sees that she is faking.
Jeremy and Lowen end up falling in love and having a girl, Nova. They move to North Carolina, he changes his last name to Ashleigh and Lowen writes under the pen name of Laura Chase. Crew kept saying his mother told him not to tell Lowen anything if she asked questions, which, combined with the autobiography, Lowen suspected she was faking it.
Verity had plans to leave once the advance for the book came in as Lowen was co-writer and Jeremy would be paying her. But they did not know that Verity had opened up a checking account online and planned to disappear with Crew once the money hit the account.
After showing the autobiography to Jeremy, he, along with Lowen kills Verity. He had tried to kill her before by driving into a tree and then placing her in the driver's seat, but she lived and recovered enough to be able to function well enough, but she had to keep up the act if she was leaving.
Jeremy and Lowen decide to leave Vermont and before they do, Crew wants to get the pictures he drew for his mother out of the floor in her room. So Lowen looks for them and then finds a letter in the floorboards to Jeremy. Verity says that the autobiography was an exercise, and Lowen feels bad for helping to murder her.
I read this book in a few hours it was that good! This is the second book of Hoover's that I have read, and now I try to read as many as I can.
