I would assume that we can roll as soon as we all finish in order to continue.

Book: The Stolen Heir
Author: Holly Black
Dates Read: May 4-10, 2024
Pages: 356
Rating: 4 stars
Review:
This is the first book of Elfhame that I have read (Elfhame #4 and The Stolen Heir #1) I may read the second book in this Duology to see what happens to the Wren and Oak. I like that Holly Black has mixed Fantasy with Real Life and she played it off well, although I would like to know more about her mortal family because it seems they have not forgotten her. I have to think more about how she was a 'Stolen Heir,'... I need to think about this story. I sometimes got lost in the different storylines, but for the most part, I think of this story as 'a woman scorned.' Wren has been tortured all her life and now she has the power to fight back and even though she makes the faerie pay for what they did to her, she is kind enough to let those go who did not torture her.
One thing I like about YA novels is that the main characters are on some quest to prove themself/their worth whether to themselves or others. The Stolen Heir reminds me of a rags-to-riches fairytale. Rich, not is the sense of wealth, but in the sense that Wren doesn't have to live homeless anymore

Space: 90
Book: Make My Heart Race
Date Read: 5/10
Rating: 4 stars
How it fits: Stand Alone
Review: Grace McGinty never disappoints. I know I can count on her to supply a plot, quality spice, and a book that is better edited than a lot of other indie authors. Make My Heart Race was not exception. Although this time around I did feel that the bad guy was a bit forced. Not in his opening actions, but the actions after the court case felt too over-the-top for a real life situation. He had nothing to gain by killing Tally.

Review - This was a huge disappointment for me. The book was written in 3rd person and I remember why I hate 3rd person Narration. It reads like a textbook and if I wanted to read a textbook, I'd pull out my old college textbooks and go to town. Normally my brain does not wander when I'm listening to an audio book, but this could not keep my attention at all.
