The Frozen River

Highly recommended. 4 stars

reading Dead Find by T.F. Muir which concerns a body found on St Andrews golf course that was placed there years ago. An interesting murder mystery (police) set in Scotland.
Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn is great fun as a group of retired female assassins take on those out to kill them.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A touching, heartwarming and humorous read -
One Long Weekend by Shari Low ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
In these days I'm reading Murder by the Minster, a funny type of cozy mystery. Sometimes it's good to read some like this, without too much gore or excessive violence
My review of Everyone on This Train Is a Suspect by Benjamin Stevenson
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished Don't Fear the Reaper, which was excellent (though, if you're squeamish, it is gory in spots). Have started the third in the trilogy, The Angel of Indian Lake.
Murder in Chianti
is a light, entertaining cozy mystery. My 3.5 star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Nonna Maria and the Case of the Lost Treasure by Lorenzo CarcaterraIn this addition to the Nonna Maria series, the shrewd Italian grandmother has two goals: to foil an assassination and to help a young woman find the treasure left by her grandfather. The book works fine as a standalone.
Pleasurable cozy mystery. 3.5 stars

Kicking off this week with the excellent historical mystery
The Paris Mistress by Mally Becker https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Last Word
by Elly GriffithsFalsely advertised as a Ruth Galloway mystery -- it isn't, she doesn't appear. Reminded me of Richard Osman's retiree detectives. I liked the cast, I liked the plot other than the solution to the murders. I liked it but I didn't love it. 3 stars.
Service Model
by Adrian TchaikovskyIn this seriocomic sci-fi novel, a valet robot kills his master, and then tries everything he can to get a new valet job.
Tchaikovsky is a good sci-fi writer. 4 starts

If you only read one thriller this year, make it JD Barker's Behind a Closed Door. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ doesn't do it justice!

Acclaimed author John Boyne's praise convinced me to try Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano He reckons it's one of the best books about a young person: "outstanding storytelling, great writing, absolutely The Real Deal." I won't argue!
My review of Dear Edward
The Glassmaker
takes a unique approach to a centuries long family saga. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Limehouse Text
by Will ThomasBarker and Llewelyn #3. London, 1885. The Victorian era. The search for a mysterious Chinese book is causing no end of trouble including several murders. Another very interesting and well done historical mystery featuring precursors to our era private eyes. I liked it, 3 stars.
I finished Don Carpenter's oft-overlooked debut novel

Today I started A Song for the Dying. I read the first book in the series a couple of years ago, now I'm curious to see how the story continue.
My second book of the week is
A Midnight Puzzle by Gigi Pandian. This is the third in her fun series involving a retired magician and a construction company that specializes in hidden rooms.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Long Time Gone
started fairly strong but had an OTT finish. My three star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read this cozy mystery series out of order (but all the books work as standalones). I got this debut book in a Goodreads giveaway, so I finally got to read the debut novel (this book).
Nonna Maria and the Case of the Missing Bride by Lorenzo CarcaterraA grandmother called Nonna Maria helps helps a young woman who was bamboozled into a marriage engagement; and she investigates a murder.
