Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments Three books remaining with 17 hours on the clock!

1 Green - A Song of Wraith and Ruin - Nadine
6 - Cinder - Kadi
Reverse - Sleeping Giants - MiMi

We have overflow books for 6 & Reverse, but nothing for 1 Green. I'll send out an end of round reminder so everyone knows when they can finish books for March.

Samantha | 30 comments going to be off GR for the rest of the day but I just added an overflow book that fits for black cover in case Sleeping Giants doesn't get finished!

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments Two books left and we will be done! I’m at the airport killing time so at least I can get some reading in.

message 304: by Kadi (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments I’ve finished Cinder! Finally! I feel like it took me forever to read it and I couldn’t wait for it to end.
Onto the next one I guess!

message 305: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments That’s the worst when a book becomes a slog to the finish! Glad you knocked it out though.

message 306: by nadine (new)

nadine | 40 comments just finished A Song of Wraiths and Ruin! also made time to go out and buy the sequel this evening :)

message 307: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments That should be it, team!!! Awesome job wrapping up February. Let’s claim and read those March books, but don’t finish until March officially begins.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Great job, team! :)

message 309: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Osting | 87 comments Woo hoo!! Great job everyone!

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments Checking in for the first week of March! How is the reading going? We need to be sure we are prioritizing those tough cards, like the colors and reverses.

I've found it easy to layer my other challenges into our March cards so far, so a win for us!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) It has certainly been quiet, I'm sure we are all busy with life, reading, and other challenges. I'm hoping to get some cozy and quiet reading time this weekend, we'll see!

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments I was away on a work trip last week, and I left during a big snowstorm and returned to an even worse snowstorm. Yay for the sunny warmth of Phoenix last week! It was awesome to not wear a winter jacket and hat and snow boots.

Now I'm back to a foot of fresh snow in Oregon. This winter is dragging on.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Ugh sorry to hear that with the long winter. It's been warming up here this week, we got a long of rain last night.

message 314: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Osting | 87 comments I’m reading 3 of my books now. The one I’m reading with my son I’ll finish by the end of March. The other two I should finish in the next couple of days. I just got notified that I got the new Simone st. James book in at the library so I’m super excited about that. 😁 I’ll try to find a place to fit it in.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Another Monday in March! Our Mini should be coming semi-soon? Curious what it is this month.

We're getting 70 degree weather this weekend in Washington. I am exciiiiited.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Oh, nice, see the Mini has been announced! Will see what I have that works.

Jennifer Osting | 87 comments oh i just found it, thank you. Im so excited too because i just added a book called The Last of the Moon Girls so that will work for one of the "LAST" cocktails. These look super fun!

They really do! I made some pre-planning on in case with books that work with what earlier.

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments The March mini tab is on our spreadsheet! Start plotting and planning and grab those spots.

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments Some fun color covers in the mini!

message 324: by Kadi (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments Hey guys! I’ve just checked out the new mini and it’s looking fun! I think Part 2 is going to be hard for me as a non drinker because I literally don’t know any cocktail names beyond Pina Colada😂 might leave that part to the rest of you creative guys

It’s a shame because my current read is called The Rise of Renegade X and it has a lot of superheroes/villains in it with cool names like the Crimson Flash which would make for great cocktail names I’m sure!

message 325: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments Post those things here and we can place it somehow! If your books won’t work for a space in part one, log it in overflow and we can work it in.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Kadi wrote: "Hey guys! I’ve just checked out the new mini and it’s looking fun! I think Part 2 is going to be hard for me as a non drinker because I literally don’t know any cocktail names beyond Pina Colada😂 m..."

I think we're supposed to invent names, and can use ingredients from text in books, titles, stuff on covers, etc.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) We still had about 5 Reverses unclaimed.

I looked through books I had reserved in non-special regular cards and found a few to move to Reversed after checking shelves: Prince Caspian, Frostbitten. - On the plus side this frees up easier cards

Jennifer, I have read The Housemaid that you have reserved on Card 3 if you want to move to a Reverse later

Mimi, I have read voyage of dawn treader, but you're using for a BLUE card so better to leave in your spot!

Sam, I have read A Good Girl's Guide to Murder that you have on Skip in case we ever need to do a fill in swap with reverse

message 328: by MiMi (new)

MiMi | 67 comments I’ve been sick for a couple of weeks, which means I couldn’t finish any books so far. On the bright side, all my feb books can be used for mini.

I also looked at the list to check what could be used as reverse.
I have read the starless sea from hand 5 and the murder at the vicarage from hand 7 and pachinko in hand 11.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Great, sounds like we basically have all the Reverses covered in addition to the ones reserved

message 330: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments Awesome teamwork! Way to juggle those cards.

MiMi, I hope you are feeling better!

message 331: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments We are almost at the halfway point. What's the best book you've read this month?

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I have done a lot of rereads this month. Counting only new reads, may be the remaining of the Stillhouse Lake books by Rachel Caine. Those are hard to put down

message 333: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments Oh I read the first two of Stillhouse Lake and liked them, too! Very suspenseful. I need to finish them off.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Yes series stays pretty good really 😊

message 335: by MiMi (new)

MiMi | 67 comments Erin, I saw you finished several books of mini already. As far as I know you gotta finish them at the earliest on 15th of March so they can be counted for the mini challenge.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Ah I didn't catch that, I can remove the ones finished then from the mini

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Removed my three finish and fourth just finished from the mini tab.

ok, I moved The Housemaid to a reverse.

Also, can two people read the same book in a month and count it towards two different cards?

Oh, I m going to look these up!

I would assume so as long as the dates are different and the reverse used is the date after the other person.

I was just curious because Im starting Murder Road and it looks like you are reading it as well.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) YES! I was lucky the library loan came in already! I have it marked as reading but have not actually started it yet, hope to within next few days, then will change dates to be accurate. I'm horrible about that -- so you will likely finish first, but whichever should work.

message 343: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments I have that on deck, too!

message 344: by Kadi (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments Hi Erin, I can't find the book Compulsion on your UNO shelf but it's set as read on the spreadsheet. Can you please check it? Thanks😊

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Kadi wrote: "Hi Erin, I can't find the book Compulsion on your UNO shelf but it's set as read on the spreadsheet. Can you please check it? Thanks😊"

I looked and see its on the shelf and tagged Uno

message 346: by Kadi (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments I still can't find it so I searched all your shelves for it and it's come up with a book with no set read date!
Is it this book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... ?
Maybe someone else can try checking in case the issue is on my end but maybe it hasn't actually saved your read date

message 347: by Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (last edited Mar 14, 2024 01:03PM) (new)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) It's on the shelf but oddly the date is now missing, strange. Let me add it in. If I updated from GR App on phone sometimes it ignores dates

Manually when checking the UNO Shelf, you can have it easier by sorting by title and then it will come up alphabetical order. I have to do that sometimes with huge shelves, this one is up to 59 in between read and planned, ack

message 348: by Kadi (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments The GR app loves to mess with us Erin! It has multiple ways to add in the date and I'm always paranoid it doesn't save it properly when I use it
Anyway, this means we've finished our first hand of this month guys🎉

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Yes, it is quirky!! I try to avoid it when possible!

And congrats all!

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments Hey guys I just created my first cocktail for part 2 of the mini challenge and it’s very fun! I Googled a list of cocktail names and then tried to find one to fit with a book I’m planning on starting tonight.

I’ve come up with: Thimbletack’s Sweet Revenge which is especially fitting because in the book the character Thimbletack takes revenge on the protagonist and he also really loves honey so his revenge is sweet!

But when I fill in the spreadsheet I’m a bit confused. Does anyone know what I should put down for where it says “word used”? What word are they talking about? And then there’s a bit off to the side to list the names of the cocktails created so should I put my super cool (if I do say so myself) cocktail name there?
