Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments Nicknames count, so I think we are good there.

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments Erin I’ll move some books around so we can make use of the one you put in overflow. Whilst we’ve still got cards free it makes no sense to leave one wasting!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Okay, thank you both

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I'm not sure who is editing my books, but how Coal Miner's Daughter fits was replaced by "All anonymous users
February 16, 8:21 PM
Replaced: "Standalone Book" with "Read by Kadi P"" on planning sheet, but it is fine on the Official sheet, which is what I suppose matters

I was able to finish a few planned today, In Peppermint Peril was cute. Started The Bog audio/e-book hybrid and it's fascinating so far, hope it stays this good.

I found a spot for it by some research of other character names fortunately

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I moved one of my read books to another section it fit to fit The Bog for Black cover for mini. Should have it done Monday by the latest.

I switched it back. We just need to remember if the card is green, it's already been reported on the main sheet so we shouldn't move it. It could have just been a weird copy/paste error, but I'll take a look at the official to be sure everything is good to go.

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments I finished one last night that works for one of the final draw 2s open so I slotted it there. I'll go see if it works for one of the bottom mini categories.

message 209: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments Just a warning, Erin. Tell the Wolves I'm Home made me sob.

message 210: by Kadi (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments Not sure what happened with Erin’s read of Coal Miner’s Daughter🤔 I am the one who put it on the official spreadsheet so hopefully it’s not been moved on our other one as I put it in hand 2.

We’re looking good for progress guys! 3 hands completed and a few more almost finished. Awesome stuff!

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments Checking shelves to see where we are! I found a quick 9 Yellow to finish that spot.

Sam, I think Gone Tonight by Sarah Pekkanen is a dark blue overall. We could use it as a Wild Draw 4 to duplicate the Skip Blue card, using the author's last name P. I added it since I didn't see it slotted anywhere else. Feel free to move it if you were planning on a different card!

Can you see if it will work for one of the mini tasks at the bottom? Otherwise I can check my copy later this week.

Reverses and 7's are the big need now.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Michelle wrote: "Just a warning, Erin. Tell the Wolves I'm Home made me sob."

Oh, no just started it this evening!! I like the writing style so far.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I finished Three Mages and a Margarita and moved in same hand from 1 (one of the easier cards) to 7, which is slightly more difficult, Really, this books most cards in someway. I never found it on other members shelves but was surprised as it's a popular series - if someone has read it and I missed it, feel free to put in Reverse

It also works for Spirits for Mini, and it looks like we have four finished for that and one planned

message 214: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments We are rolling right along!

I haven't heard of that series either, but we need lots of 7's this month so it works great there.

message 215: by Kadi (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments I feel like reverse cards are proving to be the hardest for us! I wish there was a way to easily see who has read what book without having to check the book enter or people’s shelves both of which are long methods 😭

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Looking at the uno sheet, I have read One of us is lying but that's already on Reverse
I have read All Systems Red that is on #1 on Hand Four so that could go on Reverse if you move any books later
I've read Fourth Grave beneath my feet but that's in a hard place already with a Green 4 so don't see a reason to move that one

message 217: by Kadi (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments I’ll swap All Systems Red with another book because we need all the reverses we can get!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Okay great, happy to help :)

message 219: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Osting | 87 comments I have read the broken girls and the third policeman can be moved to the 5 spot. Would that work?

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I will leave up to the captains to move others books but good to know we may already have Reverses covered! It's hard to tell with the compare books features sometimes

message 221: by Kadi (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments That’s a super big help thanks Jennifer and Erin! I’ll look at changing the cards around hopefully tomorrow night after work😊

message 222: by Kadi (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments So we've just finished our 4th hand and all reverses are claimed! Great job everyone👏🏻

message 223: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments We are doing great! We are headed into the final stretch of this month, so this weekend we will be sending out a reminder message and posting in here to be sure you are on track to finish your claimed books before the end of the month.

Thoughts about "underground" as a direction? Otherwise I can use it for a mixer with since he drinks club soda with a lemon twist.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I would think underground would work as a direction personally. Will keep working on my planned books as I know we are coming to end of February - a short month, ack!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Fortunately tomorrow is my last day of work for the week. After that, home free :)

Once I finish with my planned books, if we still need a direction book, I have a short one that will cover with "North" in it, but no guarantees as of yet

Yes I can! I had a busy weekend first couple of days at work. I will check now :)

It works for a mixer so I updated the Feb mini tab.

message 227: by Samantha (last edited Feb 21, 2024 09:13AM) (new)

Samantha | 30 comments I wonder if it would be helpful for the Reverses if everyone added a couple of suggestions for their 2023 bests so we can reference for books we've read instead of checking all teammates' shelves.

I just claimed a 7 and should finish it before the end of this week!

message 228: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments Yes, let's share some reverse ideas for next round. Good thinking, Samantha!

We have two remaining 1 cards unclaimed. I need to read Frost Burned and then I can see what I have for anything else.

If you haven't finished a book for the main, please check to see if it will fit one of the mini categories as well! Especially for the top categories, which are less flexible and harder tofind.

message 229: by Kadi (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments I think that’s a good idea because that way we can also share some reads we enjoyed and I always like to try other reads people enjoyed and recommend.

Also I believe all cards are now claimed! But we still have a few free spaces on the Feb mini.
I’ve found a book that’s got a black cover so if I finish my current read I’ll get onto that before the month ends!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Finished Book Lovers!

To take some pressure off, switched out a reverse for another book that is shorter. The book I had there was almost 600 pages, and I have plenty of other books to finish before end of February, so switching my reverse made sense. Still Michelle's shelf!

message 231: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments We are so close to finishing! Go team.

March hands are dealt and in our planning sheet. We need 9 reverses this round, so be sure to friend each other to compare lists. If you share your favorite genres, we can all make some suggestions here in the thread to help each other out.

message 232: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments I love historicals and mysteries. But I will read anything. What are your favorite mystery series? And your favorite historical romances? Or historical fiction (especially war fiction)?

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I don't read much historical fiction or war fiction really. Not a big historical fan but sometimes will read a romance or so in that genre, it all depends

I like fun cozy mysteries, some psychological thrillers, classic mysteries, hardboiled, noir, true crime, love Perry Mason, Alex Delaware series by Jonathan kellerman - most types of mysteries really

message 234: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 30 comments probably not new for most people but I just found the Finlay Donovan series and it's a fun mystery! It gives me Spellman Files vibes, which are also fun.

message 235: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Osting | 87 comments Samantha wrote: "probably not new for most people but I just found the Finlay Donovan series and it's a fun mystery! It gives me Spellman Files vibes, which are also fun."

ohh that looks like a fun book. I am going to plan on reading that for March for a reverse. Finlay Donovan is killing it -Elle Cosimano

My other planned reads for March are Housemaid by McFadden, The Heiress by Rachel Hawkins, Vera Wongs Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Sutanto. These would fit in several places but wanted to throw them out there in case anyone has read them.
Am I able to add them to the march spreadsheet or would you like me to wait?

message 236: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Osting | 87 comments I really enjoy cozy mysteries, thrillers, Fantasy, Magic, Paranormal, Magical Realism is a favorite, Fiction, Historical Fiction, Some Gothic Fantasy. I enjoy a little romance but don't like too much spice.
I love Frederik Backman, William Kent Krueger, Heather Webber, Simone St. James, Lisa Wingate and have read nearly everything by these authors. I hope that is helpful.

message 237: by Kadi (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments @Jennifer I don’t see any issue with adding your reads to the March tab on the spreadsheet in advance. So go for it!

We have the following coloured cards in March if people want to start looking for planned reads that fit and claim them:
2 Blue
Skip Yellow
2 Green
6 Green
1 Red
Skip Red
8 Green
7 Yellow
Skip Blue
Skip Green
2 Green
8 Blue
8 Blue
1 Red

nadine | 40 comments does anyone have books that can replace any of my outstanding books on the spreadsheet (flux, a song of wraiths and ruin, saving time)? feeling a *little* pressure to finish all three before month end, and bc i’m accessing from mobile i can’t check the sheet atm to see if i’m holding up the completion of any hands. i can probably knock out two of them, all three if i’m lucky but however many can/should be replaced feel free to go for it and i can prioritise accordingly

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I have five to finish and wheedling down, so can't commit to more at this time, sorry.

If I do finish my five and we still need a direction, I have a book I'll work on for that which is short.

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments Quick recap of what is pending with 5 days remaining!
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

The chart says we have 14 cards remaining to complete on the main.
We also need to claim more books on the mini. I can probably knock out 3 or 4 more but I don't want to claim anything in case someone else needs a slot.
We need:
2 black text only

message 241: by Michelle (last edited Feb 24, 2024 04:32PM) (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments Moving some things as I check shelves!

Namita, I used The Running Grave in one of my 7 spots so I can focus on knocking out some of the mini books. I'll hold Frost Burned for March since we have 11 7's again.

Oh, I can read The Hunger Games for black cover in the mini. Does anyone want to hold off on one of their unread reverse spots and I can use it there? We can shift what you were planning to one of our many reverses in March.

Nadine, let me see what I can juggle. Do you have a preference on which ones you are able to finish? I can try to pull from overflow as I am checking shelves.

message 243: by Kadi (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 655 comments I’ve taken one of my black book reads off and moved it to March because I don’t think I’ll have a chance to get round to it now. So I think that means we have 2 black books left for the mini challenge.

message 244: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments I found one on Namita's shelf for the mini so we are covered there. It's the black text that is stressing me out!

message 245: by Michelle (last edited Feb 24, 2024 05:05PM) (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments Actually, we have an overflow to take the space of Saving Time, Nadine. I will take it off and you can move it to March if you want!

If you could prioritize the other two (flux and wraiths and ruin) that would be really great since we are struggling to find black text and wraiths is a color card.

I am halfway through Tell the Wolves Im home and hoping to finish both it and And Then There Were None by tomorrow. I have to read the second for two other challenges as well so will be reading both of these which work for Reverse - but if you find a different spot you'd like me to put these on if you need the Reverse spot, let me know

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Confirming my five are currently, and still planning to have this done at minimum

Reverse - And Then There Were None (should be done by tomorrow)
Reverse - Tell the Wolves I'm Home (should be done by tomorrow)
1 - Plier - Been wanting to read, starting soon
Skip Yellow - Sharks in the Time of Saviors
8 Blue - Steelheart

message 248: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 584 comments I found a couple of short ones for the direction tasks. Can anyone help us out with the only black text on cover? I am not having luck and we still need two.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) If no one else takes toward end of week, I have a 157 page book I wanted to read soon, The Withering, which works for Black text on cover, but not reserving more just yet in case.
