Steph (angel4492) | 32708 comments Hiya, Team Caps! Thanks for volunteering to guide your team through a round of BookShelf Bingo!

Your job, should you choose to accept it, will require a few things:
1 ~ Be our go-to person should we have any questions about your team
2 ~ Organize your teammate's weekly reads for each shelf/category so that the BSB Ninjas can quickly and easily verify and approve your stamp request(s)
2a ~ Create a master list in a post (preferably on the first page of your team's thread) and update it weekly or as often as necessary
2b ~ Post your team's stats on the Captain's Log prior to requesting a stamp
3 ~ Encourage and motivate your team (you may also ask to borrow Judithe's whip whenever necessary)
4 ~ Post regularly to ensure your team is communicating and on track each week
4a ~ Send them a PM and friendly poke if they haven't posted at least once a week, noted their book choice, and/or appear to have dropped out of webspace
5 ~ Send us a PM (Steph or Sandra) should you need us for any reason throughout the game

LaurLa | 1207 comments Hi Team! I'm not sure I been on a challenge team with either of you before - so I'll say nice to meet you (virtually)! And if we have been teamies before, I apologize for not remembering 😊

I am captaining another challenge and running a couple so would prefer not to be captain, but will gladly do so if you don't feel you can.

A little about me... I live in the US, in Indiana and am married with 2 grown boys. And two fur-baby dogs. I'll read just about anything as long as it's a sub-genre of romance but prefer to stay away from true horror and YA. But I've been know to suck down anything for a challenge 😏

Looking forward to getting started and playing with you both!

Trinia | 837 comments Hi LaurLa and Deanna! Excited to meet you both and get started.

LaurLa thanks for the summary, I feel like I’ve known you from seeing you on other big challenges but I do think you’re right that this is the first small team challenge, YAY!

About me ~ I live in Texas , nearby Dallas with my husband and we have 3 grown boys, our twins are 21 and the baby is 20 (if you can call that grown, lol). I work part time as an Occupational Therapist / Certified Hand Therapist.
I’ll read most anything as well but prefer Mystery/thrillers. Horror used to by my favorite but it has gotten so bizarre theses days, I’ll pass. I do prefer not to read erotic or bisexual romances and stick to the sweet romances. Otherwise, I’m game for any genre!

👩🏼‍✈️~~~ I can be Captain if Deanna doesn’t want the task, I’ve done it twice before so it’s familiar to me.

Deanna | 406 comments I'm here. Sorry. Worked late last night and spent the morning trying to set up my health insurance at work. I'd prefer not to captain this time around.

About me - I live in Virginia, have 3 grown kids and one in 10th grade that is still homeschooling. I'm working closing shifts in retail at the moment since it works well scheduke wise.

For books, I read mostly fantasy, science fiction, and mystery; but I branch out into other genres from time to time as the mood hits me. I'll look for a book once I'm home for the night.

~ The Squares
~ Drop the Ball

I'm having a horrible time finding a book with food on the cover that works with page count. I'll just say right up front, I will probably not read this first call quickly!

For free space I'll either do
Pack Challenge (Magnus Pack, #1) by Shelly Laurenston OR
Magic Claims (Kate Daniels Wilmington Years, #2; Kate Daniels, #10.6) by Ilona Andrews

Stormy and Hunter are looking forward to their first Christmas since her return to town, while trying to adjust to Easton, the gnome shifter, being a man instead of a cat. While shopping for clothes, Stormy find the back room of the thrift store in disarray and the proprietor missing. The relationship between Hunter and Stormy is adorable at this point. The idea of gnome shifters or why they are so interested in Stormy's magic has been hinted at several times but is still largely unexplained. I love the characters, enjoyed the mystery, and am still slightly confused about the whole gnome shifter plot line. Overall a solid addition to the series. 4 stars

Wolf Cursed (Curse of the Alpha #1) by D.N. Leo
Wolf Cursed by D.N. Leo
How It Fits: GR MPG Urban Fantasy
Shelf: UF - GR
Date Read: Oct. 25
Review:
Wolf Cursed is a decent start to a new series by a new-to-me author. The characters are likeable and interesting. The writing is decent with some typos but not a lot of them. I only have two complaints about the story. First, the author introduces a ton of plot threads for a 300 page book: issues with Killian's blood, his family curse, Ivy's unknown origins, and the unknown goddess that suddenly appears to help her. These larger plotlines designed to carry over the series make the first book's focus on Ivy and Killian meeting and the mystery of who is trying to kill Killian seem a little disjointed. My second complaint is not only is there a cliffhanger at the end, but the next 3 books in the series are not on KU while books 1 and 5 are. I honestly wouldn't have read the first book if I realized this ahead of time. That is a poor marketing strategy. 3.5 stars

Sandra | 25910 comments That's so bizarre Deanna. Don't remember ever seeing that sort of KU policy before.

I really enjoyed this 2nd book. I remembered the first one being a little more OTT but this one seemed less so. Less humor, more romance too. Still insta-love, but I guess that usually a given with supes, right? But I'm a sucker for watching two characters be open to each other and fall in love (instead of being closed and defensive and fighting the feelings...). Anyway, great 2nd book and I'll definitely be reading on in the series.

The Prequel to Legends & Lattes this is an extension of the story before the start of the coffee shop. I enjoyed this prequel for a little background story of Viv, but mostly for meeting more characters and learning of their personalities and quirks. This was a quick and fun listen that I can see revisiting again in the future. Recommended for fans of Fantasy, a story about a female orc with a little romance and new friendships. I was happy this one didn’t get too much into a sexual relationship and was more about developing a relationship/friendship.

This one felt a bit more dystopian than horror with a paranormal twist. 14 contestants are shuttled off to an amusement park for a bit of Hide and Seek. The winner gets $50,000 dollars. We follow a group of characters but our MC is Mack who has a tight connection to the location and gameline. No spoilers!
I felt this could have been a little more in depth and descriptive. It was a great storyline just felt a little flat, maybe trying too much- a game, paranormal, cult , queer, etc.... I liked it overall and am happy I finally got around to it. Would I listen to it again... probably not :(

A Re-read for me... ummm I thought so, but how weird to re-read a book and NOT REMEMBER A THING!!! OMGosh! What the heck?! However, I do agree with my first rating of 5 stars again.
So this was a bit of a slow start, good story building relationships and then, POW! I really liked the world of the Fae that Maas created (listened so can't spell name of world ;P ). The world of the fairies /fae was really interesting, I loved the vibrancy in the descriptions. I liked the slow burn of Feyre and Tamlin's relationship and of course the secret that got revealed halfway through the book, the underlying truth of why everything was happening. Once Feyre returned to the fae world and was captured, I felt a little bit like I was in The Hunger Games or Maze Runner, riddles, tasks to complete. What a great adventure! I really hope my little brain will retain this enough to re-read #2!!! So I can move on and complete this series.
Why is this not a movie or series on tv? (or is it?!?!)

I am not a horror reader and I am not a zombie lover. That said, I didn't hate this book. It was kind of cute. It was very procedural - like here's what we did to escape the zombies rather than a lot of gore and over the top angst about a zombie apocalypse, though it wasn't totally emotionally void, either. The main characters could have been a little deeper, we didn't really get to see the couple work through the problems in their marriage as much as the problems got put on the back burner in order to survive. As I told someone else, next time I need a zombie book, I'll come back to this series!

LaurLa | 1207 comments I am reading The Seven Year Slip for another challenge, it's tagged paranormal romance 17 times, and I'm taking a chance that I will want to make the male hero my book boyfriend. I mean, he's described in the precis as "The kind of man that, before it all, she would’ve fallen head-over-heels for" so I'm betting I'll fall too!

And in an ironic twist (cough Steph cough) it's mpg magical realism 😂
