Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments This is starting to get worrisome about Lucy's medication.

Is there somewhere online you can order it as a last resort? Does the vet have a stash?

message 302: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments It does sound like the medication issue is a bit of a nightmare at the moment. Do the vets carry it, or are they ridiculously expensive?

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening all, not as crazy a day, though we did have an interesting meeting this morning. Very wet during the day, didn't get that wet walking to the car, but then since getting home, it has been wet and windy. I did just realise that I'm going to a different town with a Boots on Sat, so will ring tomorrow to see if they have any in stock.

Well, I'm not overly worried as I have a month left. Unfortunately it is a human medication, so can only get from a chemist, and isn't commonly used in humans at that dosage, which is why it isn't usually in stock, and we have had supply issues before that resolved before we'd run out (we did resort then to halving her medication, which isn't ideal, but does mean we'll have longer).

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Hope you find it - that is a worry you don't need.

Jim | 21809 comments yes hope it gets sorted soon

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, had a bad night sleep due to the weather, did not sound good at times! Got up this morning to a lot of blown over wheely bins, one against my car, one against neighbours, I was nice and moved the one against hers where the lid kept banging. Decided not to move the one against mine, ratty neighbour had put a brick on it to stop it blowing over, which hadn't worked and the brick has scratched my car! Had a manic day at work, and ended up having a short lunch, needed milk, didn't have time to go to the canal, and didn't get chance to ring Nissan or Boots, will hopefully do both tomorrow as in the office on Fri. My nail varnishes arrived though, can't wait to try them, though I did buy 6 and only have 5 fingers on each hand! I forgot I'd spent enough for a free gift, so that was nice.

Thanks, there is plenty of time.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments It's been a wild week here with Storms Isha and Jocelyn both causing havoc, there were trees down, the roof came off the Tesco petrol station and all the trains cancelled countrywide - twice. Seems calmer now!
Burns night tonight so we might have haggis for dinner if I can catch one, the traps were all empty this morning ;)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, another miserable day. Have tried twice to ring Asda pharmacy, both times no one was available to take my call. Tried Boots, they don't have it in stock. Rang Nissan at lunch, foolishly sat in the car in case he needed the serial number, but all he asked me for was my registration, then he gave me the code! I wrote it down on the paper in the bag of locking wheel nuts, even though it said not to keep it in the car, doubt anyone will look there for it! I have to wait till tomorrow to test it though. Another manic day at work, seems the norm at the moment, might improve when colleague returns next week, even though it's a phased return and then some leave. Lucy got freaked out last night as neighbour's cat had tried to come in, then she saw my ear muffs under the table (that have been there since last week!), and hasn't come downstairs since, I dragged her down at 8pm, got scratched in the process, but she seems to have realised there is nothing down here, and is now on the sofa with me, so fingers crossed she's got over that!

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments You have a point there.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, got woken up at 3am by wind and rain, but it cleared by the time I needed to leave the house, first Fri in the office, traffic was practically non existent, so got there quicker than normal. We seemed to work all day, but work kept coming in, so we had more left than we started with! It also felt a very long day. I got my payday treat from the cafe in the building, and tried one of their cakes, which was very nice! Got home with 1 minute before I could put the code in my car, so sat there waiting, and it worked no problem. Slightly concerned actually though that all it took was my licence plate, and no confirmation that I own the car!

message 314: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments That would be concerning - maybe they haven't thought it through.

Or maybe they have 'you' associated with your phone number when you call (someone could have stolen car AND phone!).

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, woke up feeling very drained after a busy week, had to do a couple of chores, then took my nephew out for his birthday treat, which was going to the museum we went to last year for his birthday, he wanted McDonald's for lunch, can't remember the last time I went in one of those, but their McPlant burger was quite nice actually, and the Galaxy Caramel hot chocolate was decent. Nipped into M & S after, but that one has gone downhill, barely came back with anything. Dropped him off, popped in Lidl for a couple of bits, got home and realised I'd forgotten something!

message 316: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments So long as it wasn't the Nephew, it's not a problem :-)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Hello all, my messaging thing has stopped working again, which is a bit annoying. Creeping on with the stuff I had to do. Had to sort out loads of tech stuff today so that Google will continue to deliver my emails. I'm not sure if I've managed it or not. I'm supposed to have an unsubscribe button in the headers but the mailing list peps are supposed to provide that automatically ... except they don't. Am slightly worried I will have to go into all the many emails I send on automated systems and manually add one. Ugh. So annoying.

Otherwise all is dandy though. Had a good night out last night and although it's colder than charity here and I'm chuffing freezing all of the time, I seem to have more energy each week ... which is nice.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening all, woke up feeling drained again, was hard to find motivation to get out of bed. A had messaged asking if I had time to go and help with wax melt selection, but said I didn't have enough energy to go round, we have done some via message though. I felt a bit better after lunch, so made myself go round to the canal, still no Mister, there was more ducks/geese than usual but none came over when I threw some food in the canal, so I left again. Did pop my head round the candle shop door for an update, but it was quite busy, so I'll try again one lunch. Did a bit of a half hearted attempt at chores, but at least the house looks better than this morning. Tried 5 of my new nail varnishes, not sure I like one of them, they are quite two toned (they are classed as sheer), so interested to see what they go like over black and white, so at least I know what I'm doing with my nails the next two weeks. Got another weather warning for rain and possible flooding!

No, I'd already dropped him off Jim! Nice to see you MT, hope the e-mail thing has worked. Glad you are getting more energy.

A sad indictment of something that's supposed to help.

Reminds me of the school Jane Eyre was sent to as a child to learn to be a governess.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, wet and miserable today. Bit of a weird day in the office, people were sat at different desks and it really threw me! Colleague who has been off sick seems nice. Don't feel like I had a productive day at work though.

Jim | 21809 comments It was wet wasn't it, pretty miserable sort of day from the weather point of view.
I was at Kendal for a meeting of the South Lakes Poverty Truth Commission, a really nice bunch of people so at least I was out of the rain for much of the day :-)

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Did you have Mint Cake? That is all I know of Kendal :)

Got a bit damp here in the afternoon, which meant the washing was outside for another rinse!

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Warmer here yesterday but definitely a bit dreary. It is today too. McOther has had a vomiting bug. I've done 24 hours with no signs as yet. Fingeres crossed. Apparently if I make it to 48 hours I should be in the clear ... but I'm going detecting on Saturday and to see Frank Skinner on Friday so there is a sod's law aspect of this which is worrying me a bit.

Never mind, fingers crossed and onwards and upwards!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, dry and sunny today, actually got warm enough in the office to sit with a short sleeved top and no cardigan - it's January!!! Got an e-mail from PetPlan, they've processed Lucy's claim form, not entitled to anything last year as the claim was under her excess, but got £53 back from this month's visit. Trying chemists in market town tomorrow, see if they have her medication in stock. Remembered to go to Home Bargains for my shampoo after work, then forgot to go to B and M for something! Maybe I should start doing shopping lists again! ETA: just seen one of the wildlife photographers posted about some visitors to the lake this morning, 11 Whooper Swans, from Iceland, spent a few hours then he got pics of them flying off as the sun set!

Glad you were out of the rain Jim, though that sounds an interesting group! Fingers crossed you don't get the bug MT!

It is indeed, a lot of lovely people

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, quite a stressful day at work, don't feel as though I did as much as I wanted to, not helped by a headache from Lucy waking me up at 4.20 padding my bladder! And then she ran in the bathroom after me purring her head off, she's been very unusually purry today. Started off dry, nipped out at lunch, forgot to take the bird food though, so just went for milk. Tried another two chemists today, both tried seeing if they could order without me asking, which was nice. Second one suggested I go back to my GP for an alternative, so I had to tell her it was for my cat, at least the response was 'oh, go back to the vet then'! Started wet and windy around 3pm, so didn't go out again after work, bargains in Sainsbury's haven't been good enough this year to warrant going out in bad weather! Did finish my book, have started the year off by reading 5 books, which is good.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, another dry, if chilly day. Popped out at lunch and remembered bird food, no sign of Mister though but lots of hungry mallards, some of which had different colour beaks, more like a mint green than the normal yellow, haven't checked my pics to see if they show yet. Had a quick chat in the candle shop, they are trying to negotiate an extension, so fingers crossed. Busy at work again, and down to two of us tomorrow. Went to the shops after work as it was still light, lovely red sky.

But you do sound generally happier in this job than before.

message 332: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments yes it does seem you're better placed at the moment

message 333: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments What they said Desley. Everything sounds a lot more relaxed at the moment, even when hectic! If that makes any sense.

Sadly I got the boys flu bug but it seems to be going away. I feel a great deal better now than I did earlier. I've paid £20 for a dig tomorrow so I'm going whatever. I mean, it's outside, so I doubt I'll get close enough to anyone for them to catch anything and for some reason being outside a lot seems to see these bugs off faster.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, my day started off really well, logged on my banking app to check I'd been paid (seems easier than checking my payslip!), to find it was just more than double what I was expecting, so checked my payslip and got the rest of the underpayments from last year, which was lovely, especially as the bulk of my bills came out yesterday, which was last week's wage. Then it turned when I logged on and got a tricky call within minutes, thought I was having IT issues, but then realised he'd rang before I'd fully logged on! Then it turned into one of those Friday's where there were lots of urgent things. Nipped to co-op at lunch and then got a drink and cookie from the coffee shop. Afternoon went a bit better, but needed to check some things with colleague and she was in meetings most of the afternoon, so by the time I got through with her, I ended up working a bit late to do most of it, though left one for Mon morning. Did another energy saving session - forgot to say that I was in the top 20% of savers for the last one, and went to Lidl to treat myself to a pizza, got a couple of other bits, then got to the till to realise I still had a £10 off shop deal, so it only cost me 99p!

Thanks guys, it is a much nicer environment, and acceptance that we are all human and can make mistakes, rather than the last place where that resulted in meetings. Also never worked somewhere were everyone seems to like me! Sorry you did get the bug MT, but hope you will be OK at the dig tomorrow.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, had a rubbish night sleep, was just chilling in bed when vegan friend text to ask if I wanted to go for a walk, checked phone and the forecast rain had gone, so said yes, don't see her much, so took the opportunity. Had a nice walk, got to feed some birds and squirrels. Came home and had a shower, then alternated between watching TV and chores, not quite enough chores, but house certainly looks better than it did.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, another bad night sleep, and got disturbed at 11.30 by ratty neighbour knocking on the door, they had been out drinking and lost her key. Now bearing in mind my house was in darkness when she knocked on the door, and I only put my stairs light on, not the front room light, I have no idea why she said 'good job you were up' - I pointed out I wasn't, but figured someone knocking on the door at that time must be important! First craft fair of the year, we only did one sale, and not enough to pay for the table, but had a lovely day catching up with some of the regulars (and got some cuddles from Marvin and Geoff) and the staff, plus meeting new stallholders, and got some lovely stuff, including some freebies, so that's always nice. Then had to pop in A's house as she wanted some advice on things, and she let me smell the new scents that arrived on Fri, downside is some of them I want!

Well that's an eventful night! Blimey! I did make it to see Frank Skinner, which was fab and to the dig, which was also fab, but then was very, very sick on the Saturday night and felt terrible all yesterday. Bouncing back now but still sitting here typing this in my pyjamas. I'll probably go back to bed for another snooze in a bit.

Yay! Well done Alicia. I'm going nowhere fast it seems. Also very nervous because my kickstarter launches on Wednesday and this is not the best time to have flu. Oh well ... can't win em all.

message 339: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments There is NO best time to have the flu! Get as much rest as you can manage, drink plenty of fluids, take care - and don't put off seeing a doctor if that is necessary.

As usual, the writing will wait. Mine doesn't get done unless I'm in a usable condition.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, another frustrating day at work where urgent stuff came in and took priority over what I wanted to do, plus some awkward people! Walked over to Aldi after work so I wouldn't come back with more than the potatoes and alcohol I went in for (well, came home with some more frozen food they didn't have in last week, but impressive for me!), there had been an accident and as I was walking to the car, could see traffic was bad, so my plan to drive to B & M changed, went round the back streets to avoid that traffic and came out to another ambulance, got past that OK, then about 1.5miles away from home, the traffic started building up again, there were some roadworks that weren't there this morning, must remember about those tomorrow. Impressively, I haven't opened the alcohol I bought! Ordered myself a new fluffy weighted blanket that is heavier than my current one that I can throw off in the night.

Glad you made it to your stuff MT, but seems like you overdid it! Hope you get over it soon.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, seem to have caught up a bit today, which is nice, especially as I had another bad night sleep. Wet and miserable start to the day, so glad I didn't have to go out at lunch, I got my Tue coffee from the shop in the building, though I had planned on a Costa for a change. Nipped to M and S and B and M on the way home, no cat litter again, but treated myself to some alcohol with my extra money.

Yes, sounds like you need more rest, it might be the come down from all the emotional stuff too.

message 346: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Yeh, I think there might be a sense of no longer dragging the mill stone around. I had no idea how much emotional drag there was. I mean, I did know it was there but now that it's mostly gone, there's still no money and loads of admin, but somehow it feels a bit lighter. I feel lighter and I know I have more energy. Even now, a bit one degree under, I am doing more stuff. Also dead stoked as my kickstarter funded in less than 3 hours. OK so £100 was probably quite a conservative total but I was still really pleased. It now stands at £270 with 12 pledges and I was aiming for £100 and 5 sales of the book. I'm amazed but people have bought the digital copy, which is kind of a surprise, but a nice one. :-)

I also got up in the morning and went for a walk and out to lunch with a friend. Lunch was disappointing. I chose the wrong thing. Should have gone for my usual. But we had a fabulous chat anyway.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, another day at work where things kept coming in that were more important than what I wanted to do with my day! Then our half hour catch up turned into 45 mins, but quite a productive meeting. Bitterly cold today, but forecast for heavy snow tomorrow, so popped for my milk today. Then got an e-mail from Asda offering a discount, bought two new work dresses (can't remember the last time I bought work clothes) and have only just realised I forgot to put the code in to get the discount!! This evening saw a post from the rescue Lucy is from, they went out for lunch and came back to a cat dumped in a carrier outside their gate, I sent them a donation. New weighted blanket arrived today, I couldn't resist putting it on the bed today rather than waiting till I change the bedding on Sun, it feels lovely, though not heavier than the old one, thought I'd gone for a heavier one this time.

Glad you feel more able to get through things MT, and that is great news about your kickstarter, glad you went low and have been amazed at how well over, rather than being too ambitious. Glad you had a nice catch up with your friend, even if the food was disappointing.

Ugh sorry the weather was so cold. It's my fault, we're interring my parents' ashes on Sat and I am fully expecting some kind of apocalyptic blizzard if the weather for Mum's funeral was anything to go by!

How do people do that? Dumping a cat outside like that. Poor thing I bet it was scared and cold. Maybe you will have to do two blankets at once! That would be heavier.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, started raining before the snow this morning, so it hasn't really stuck, and it's been so windy (heard lots of wheely bins blowing over) that it's mainly been swirling round! I had to put the bins out after work, was so bitter taking the rubbish bin up that my hands were quite quickly frozen, then I went to put the food bin out and the wind was blowing snow so hard it hurt my face! What was down was just very slushy, though was whiter about an hour later. Did another energy saving session this evening, then clearly forgot as after sitting with the girls for an hour, I came down and wondered why the remote wasn't switching the TV on!!

At least they left it outside a rescue while they were still open, it could have been a lot worse for the poor thing. Hope interring the ashes goes well on Sat.
