Warm and sunny here today. Amazing weather for December. Walked to the Downs and sat on a bench watching the sea below.

I'm glad you're not alone at home right now - maybe there's still some flexibility in the kitties that was buried when Lucy was around. Bittersweet, but that's how it goes so often. Hugs.
Evening all, actually got 7 hours sleep last night, its odd as when i was younger, I'd feel way worse with this length of sleeping issues. When i went to hand feed Coco, she wanted the treat but not off my hand, she gently tapped my hand to shake it off, which I was impressed with. My phone said there was a slight delay on my journey, it wasn't right, took me 50 minutes to do a 3.4 mile journey! Had nice word game lunch then me and old colleague went to coffee shop, got a gingerbread white hot chocolate. Had a random conversation this afternoon, had to ring a bloke who started off shouting at me and by the end of the 10 min conversation he was asking if I wanted a husband! Didn't rush to finish work, popped in m and s for bargains and traffic was much better.Yes, its nice to keep seeing improvements and puts me off getting another cat, though I am missing having a friendly cat to stroke, not even seen neighbours cat to stroke
Evening all, back to 5 hours sleep! Didn't even check my phone for traffic, just set off early, the roadworks had gone so got to work in 13 minutes! At least getting to work half an hour early meant i got through more work! Not that numbers look much better than they did, but i have a long weekend. Just keep getting so much urgent stuff that needs doing over the older stuff. Nice word game lunch. Went to home bargains and Aldi after work, it seems its party food and cheese and cracker season for a while judging what i bought! Didn't feel well when i got home though, was running a bit of a temp. Coco has just walked in my room, straight up to my office chair and made herself jump sniffing the lever! And this weekend are the last fairs of the year, we gave none till beg Feb (and poss only one in Feb), so lots of quiet weekends and chances to get bored!
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "...chances to get bored!"Don't get bored - get rested, get caught up on reading, try some of your nail varnishes you haven't had time for - Enjoy!
I love hearing about Coco and Chanel.
A stormy night here, windy and raining. Thunder at times. A lovely walk in the wind this morning, the sea surprisingly calm.
Evening all, slightly better night sleep, 6.5 hours! Felt rubbish with this cold (that is really annoying, it's more mucus down my throat), and did contemplate not going to craft fair, but went anyway. One of my colleagues came to say helloIt was very quiet, only 4 sales but 2 decent and 1 potential new customer. Went on the tombola and won a box of After Eights, will probably take those knto work. Had a mince pie flapjack for breakfast. As we are there again tomorrow, we were allowed to leave everything set up, was odd leaving it there but meant we got to leave early.
Well, between books, TV and games, i shouldn't get bored Alicia, but think i miss the human (and animal( interaction
Evening all, slightly better night sleep but woke up with a headache! Of course as i could have a lie in till 7, i was wide awake at 6! Struggled to get Chanel back in their room. Was nice to leave later and not have to set up, still very quiet though, a different colleague turned up today, she bought something so we did make stall fee, if not as much as yesterday. There was a competition for best Christmas jumper, the three dogs won! Went on the tombola again, didn't win on first go, but did on second, though a candle/reed diffuser set (not a scent i like, so another on the charity pile!). Weather was miserable so didn't go to shops. Probably should have done some housework when i got back but decided to rest and read instead, this cold is going on my chest.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "Probably should have done some housework when i got back but decided to rest and read instead, this cold is going on my chest..."A sensible decision.
Yeah have a had a very traumatic few years, my son took his own life and can't come to terms with it and never will, just taking every day has it comes now, we are looking after his son now who is Autistic, he keeps us going otherwise don't know how we could carry on.
I am so sorry, my family has also been affected by suicide and the ripples never stop. But you're right, the wee ones are what keep you going
Evening all, went to bed a bit earlier, woke up at 5, but managed to get back to sleep till 6. Of course i didn't need to get up that early. Picked my sis up at 10.30, we went to company shop and got some bargains, then went to a retail park recommended by a friend, got stuff from Iceland and Home bargains, then treated us to a drink from Costa. Got pretty much everything for boxing day, just a couple of bits needed from Lidl. Had to go to post office when i got home and nipped for milk. Haven't done much housework but always tomorrow! Still got a chesty cough and headachy. Got warned of more roadworks starting tomorrow, they are kindly waiting till after 9am to start! Nice to see you Eastwood, I'm so sorry to hear about your son, can't imagine how traumatic that must have been, glad you have a reason to go on
Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) wrote: "I am so sorry, my family has also been affected by suicide and the ripples never stop. But you're right, the wee ones are what keep you going"Yes the ripples never stop :-(
Hope things pick up for you all
I am so sorry, Eastwood and Rosemary, to hear about your suffering. It is wonderful that you are looking after your grandson, Eastwood. It must bring you such joy.
I was surprised I was a member still, can't remember the last time I posted on here, good to see some familiar faces.
Evening all, slept through till 6ish and tracker says i didn't wake up once, which is a massive improvement! Still headachy and feeling rubbish with this cold and cough doesn't sound great. Still busy at work, seems interviews to replace colleague won't be till mid Jan, so could be Easter before we get someone. Had nice word game lunch. Traffic was better than expected, but very windy with the storm
eastwood (do you feel lucky punk, well do ya) wrote: "I was surprised I was a member still, can't remember the last time I posted on here, good to see some familiar faces."Just wanted to say you have all my sympathy. That sounds really rough. And hello and merry Christmas to you too. I am only here sporadically because my notifications have stopped so I pop in when I remember.

He has five weeks to five months ... depending on how quickly it grows. At the moment hes quite chipper but its getting harder for him to eat. Im using all the pain meds. :-)
Evening all, woke myself up a couple of times coughing, then at 4am overheating, got back to sleep around 6ish, but then struggled to get up with the 7am alarm. Glad i was WFH. Bit of a funny day at work and ended up working late. Put some rubbish out at lunch but was really windy after work so couldn't be bothered to go to shops, just got enough milk! So sorry to hear that about McCat MT, have they given you Metacam for him? Its an awful place to get it
Evening all, slept through till 5.30ish. Traffic wasn't too bad, maybe as I'd set off early. Forgot to take some cold tablets to work so feel a bit rough and voice kept going. As our coffee shop has gone, they've put in a hot drink machine and only £1 a drink, might try it next week. Got through a few things and not much urgent stuff. Nice word game lunch and finished on time. Car asked for petrol and having an MOT tomorrow so didn't think it was a good look as it gives 3 warning messages, so stopped to put £10 in and got bargains too. Dropped car off and walked home
Thanks for the messages about McCat everyone. He's doing well. He is on metacam and I have a few vials of opiates in case it gets really bad. I looked up the cat pain signs last night and to my joy there is very little evidence of pain, but the metacam is an anti inflammatory and seems to be working really well in that respect. So Im keeping that going. The vet's are brilliant with advice so I've been able to pick their brains.Carol, we have a mixture here so it'll be 4 degrees one day and 15 the next!
Desley hope the MOT went well without any nasty surprises.
Sunny here again today but there were huge puddles everywhere so I presume there was heavy rain in the night. A lone swimmer was braving the cold sea and the tiny sliver of Oddicombe beach was being enjoyed by three dogs.
So sorry to hear about McCat, MT.Hope the cold is waning, Desley.
We have had several weeks of misty weather - a rarity since we moved to California in 2018, but part of the crop-watering system.
I barely leave the apartment, but we had a lovely Gaudete Sunday service this morning, and it is a blessing to have Mass here, as I don't think I'd get there if we had to go to St. James. Too many unmasked people (like all of them).
Evening all, early wake up again, felt very odd just picking up my handbag and walking to the train station to get to work! I walked down to time it, as i needed to make sure i finished at the right time to walk back, so plenty of steps today! Though one of my lungs feels rattly when i breath in, considering going to GP, been sounding really husky all day. Car failed MOT on brakes, cost £250 to pass! Warning light has disappeared at least. Had a different colleague join at lunch and was struggling with word game so roped him in! Nice to finish early, got bargains from shops. Glad hes on Metacam MT, as well as sn NSAID, its a Cox inhibitor so supposed to slow growths down.
Glad you had a lovely Gaudete service, Alicia. It's very useful that you don't have to leave the residence. My husband is housebound but can get around within the house. Flu seems to be rearing its ugly head here in the UK and we have started wearing masks again when nurses visit. Hope your chest improves, Desley. Look after yourself.

We are blessed that one of our older residents organizes the Catholic services - to support her, I do my darndest to get there for the two services a month, and usually volunteer for one of the readings. It's a very nice small group, and anyone is welcome.
This is our 'house' - but not all of us are houseBOUND. Many residents use this place as a pied a terre - Concierge service 24 hours, housekeeping, security, and home maintenance included - while they travel or do things in the community, and as far a San Francisco where some actually still work part time.
Good mix, and I have SO many people I would like to interact with if I had any energy. Ah, well.
Use your mask - keep yourself and others from transmitting the diseases of the Season!
Sorry your car didn't pass its MOT, Desley - that must be annoying.
Continued hugs to McCat and family.
Evening all, was awake just after 5, made a cup of tea and watched some TV before trying to get back to sleep, forgot to feed the cats first, Coco creeped in after about an hour, then Chanel came in the kitchen while I was making a pot of tea, so they were clearly ready for breakfast! No plans this weekend but felt tired and drained so did a half hearted go at housework, went to coop for milk then treated myself to a decaf mince pie macchiato, they had just had a visit from environmental health and got 5 stars! Was quite nice relaxing. Think that before end of year, I'm going to try letting the girls out and sitting downstairs, contemplated letting them stay out longer in the morning but that might cause an issue when I'm in the office

My son lived in San Francisco for 5 years when he was a researcher at Stanford Research Institute but I unfortunately never visited as it always seemed too far. Now he lives on the East Coast so I have managed to visit a few times.
Had never heard of a mince pie decaf macchiato, Desley. Am a fan of mince meat pies but am not sure that would be for me. I am a bit conservative in my tastes!
Evening all, awake before 6am again, made a drink and watched TV, but had sense to feed cats before trying to get back to sleep, though i failed at that! Rained all day, so apart from putting the rubbish out, i haven't left house. Not done much housework either as felt quite tired. Have had a nice bath and tried a new nail varnish which i love! Nice to have small things that make me happy. Its basically an upside down latte with mince pie flavour syrup. Might go on Wed and see if they'll do it in a hot choc and might invest in some syrup next year
Carol wrote: "...My son lived in San Francisco for 5 years when he was a researcher at Stanford Research Institute but I unfortunately never visited as it always seemed too far...."It's a very wide country. Too bad you didn't visit - California, and the Bay area, are amazing. The coastline is staggering, and we have the giant redwoods...
Our oldest lives in San Francisco, but is afraid of the climate the politics have produced, and how it will affect her and her friends, and they're considering moving to Canada! It's two hours there, and we haven't visited back and forth much. :(
Let me know if you ever get over here. If not, the FB group My Home is California posts all kinds of gorgeous images.

The US is both vast and beautiful and I have really enjoyed visiting it. My son has now lived there for over 20 years with his wife and he also loves it. Will look up the FB California page.
Do you ever have nutmeg on your coffee, Desley? I haven't had it for a long time but I remember often having it sprinkled on many years ago. I wonder if it has fallen out of fashion. I seem to remember it was a lovely taste.
