Apparently all our cold packs had leaked and been dumped years ago, because we couldn't find one anywhere in the apartment. They don't last forever.
Hope your back is better, Desley.

Might a massage help. Alicia?"
Yes, maybe - but I've never had one, I'd have to get there or have someone come to us, and I can't bear being touched (my skin hurts).
When I learned that trick with the cold, I was driving to a local hospital three times a week for PT - don't even have a car now.
But I think it's improving with my home version - and I've found a couple positions I can sleep in.
It does make it hard to sit at my computer and write - hope I get rid of it soon.
I would love to be able to take the walks you and Desley manage!

Lacking in common sense; good intentions?
Really hope you're getting better - this doesn't sound good, fever and all.

I more or less spend the days sitting - can't walk, can't stand much. Have done so for years. I'm working out the kink/pinched nerve in my neck back little by little - I think I got it because it felt good to crack my neck when it started - and I just made it worse.
It's the computer, or the chair watching TV (has heat and massage, so that's a plus - but I don't do anything just sitting there).
My mental health needs my online and writing communities - I'm hoping to get well enough to use our heated therapy pool, but that involves a LOT of extra expenditure of energy to get there, do the pool, shower, and get back, and I'm trying to finish writing Pride's Children: LIMBO.
Little by little - but not very exciting!

Desley, Glad to hear you're a bit better, and Lucy is eating.
Please take good care of yourself.

We haven't had a speck of rain all summer - last year it was all atmospheric rivers and snow in the Rockies. Crazy weather.

They are saying this could be one of our hottest summers Alicia, reservoirs are really struggling. I don't feel it has been that hot this summer, but a long time with no rain

That's what scares me. The hottest...ever stuff - and governments finding reasons not to spend money by ignoring climate change (I'm deeply embarrassed by ours right now).

It would be wonderful to be able to use the pool, Alicia, but would obviously be quite difficult. However it is lovely that you have a pool there so hopefully at some point you will be able to use it. Technology gives us all a link with the outside world and is so vitally important. It is difficult to imagine a world now without it. Writing is also important as it keeps the mind active and gives a fulfilling purpose in life.

I believe reservoirs are quite full here in the South-West so we are fortunate. The recent rain has evidently caused most of the coves here to be polluted. It is shocking how polluted beaches and rivers have become. I have only swum in the sea once this year -I find the water here too cold so it has to be a really hot day to entice me in.

Front desk didn't know anything about it at 8 this morning, but I called again at noon and yes, a circuit somewhere went early today, and now staff is going around RESETTING every thermostat in 250 independent living apartments.
I told them we did it ourselves, but this is an irritant - the temperatures have been over 100°F all this week, and I'm useless when it gets hot inside.

Hope Jim's OK, not heard from him for a bit. I'm not a fan of online shopping Carol, though can see advantages when it comes to heavy items. Glad you got the AC sorted Alicia

Lacking energy at the moment so tottered round on very short walk. Raining again but warmer.

We've had a day of almost non-stop rain. The first in months. It's been a really dry year so far. Arthur's Seat was on fire a couple of weeks back.

Struggling and non-refreshing sleep are part of ME/CFS, but I'm finding ways to manage getting back to sleep quickly each time I wake, and have some hope it will help me have a brain for at least a few hours daily.

Glad to see you are OK Jim. That sounds interesting Carol!

I remember being told that the infantry can sleep anywhere and use anything as a pillow, but it helps if you've been busy for the last thirty six hours :-)

In between there were three small meals, eyedrops for the spouse, a pain pill, bathroom trips, and me just putting myself back to bed, doing a short breathing exercise, and going back to sleep.
It's more than I usually get, so I'm almost human.
The key for me is not allowing this ridiculous way of life to stress me out - I just do it. I know the LAST segment is very important, and have the luxury of being able to keep going back to sleep (most days), but I wouldn't recommend it if you don't HAVE to live this way.

Thanks. And you're exactly right. If we have to do something when we're older, and we know how, we just do it and get on with whatever else we're trying to do. Calmly, serenely, and without too much of a fuss, which would only waste time.

No, but great tip Alicia, I'll do that for next one, i get picked up for that fair as A has to drive my direction for it, so won't look odd walking round with a cushion!

Bring a foldable inflatable pillow - easy to hide in a purse. We pay too much for the privilege of sitting motionless.

A wedding reception sounds lovely - enjoy!
