Evening all, woke up about 4.30 and not sure i properly got back to sleep. We had a stall at an event today, i was doing the afternoon shift, got to chat with our Mayoress, it was fairly quiet, but made a change. Started raining, i didn't expect it so had a coat with no hood, walked up to the car with my scarf over my head! Popped to Sainsbury's and got some bargains. Lucy has been really annoying dince i got home, if i touch anything that mMakes a rustle sound, she thinks its food and demanding it! Been quite heavy rain this evening, we need it, when i drove past the lake yesterday, it was lower than ive ever seen it, yet the canal looked full!
I think its supposed to help bring the bruising out Alicia, its a herb. It was something recommended ny my old vet many years ago when i shut my car door on my finger! Only recently started using it again, even though I regularly have bruises!
Sounds as if Lucy is hungry, possibly making up for not feeling well?Husband has been complaining about bruises which take forever to resolve; we may get him a cream with arnica to try.
We all worry about water levels now, all the time; I don't remember doing that before the pandemic so much.
Evening all, what a random day weather wise, we've had blue skies, heavy rain, hail, and thunderstorms! It was nice when I was out doing ny install and started raining as i got home, so only neen out since to put the rubbish out. Drove past the lake again, saw the cygnets and cormorants drying their wings on a bit that is normally under water. Have put the fire on for a bit this evening. Most of my nail varnishes arrived today, can't wait to try some on Sun. There isnt enough room on the stand though, so not sure where they are goingto live, might need a shelf. Finger is much better, had a bit of throbbing round nail bed.
I think its her thyroid Alicia, shes eating more human food than she used to, i might start leaving her with 2 pouches when I'm in the office, she gets extra while im WFH and took ratty neighbours advice to give her a bit of chicken if she demands it when I'm getting stuff from the fridge
Cormorants are so distinctive, aren't they? I see them here, particularly at Meadfoot beach (where Agatha Christie used to swim!). They are often described as looking as though they are hanging washing out to dry.
Evening all, rubbish night sleep, it was sunny this morning but chilly walking down the hill. Not a bad day at work, went to coffee shop at lunch and they said they are closing but not sure when. We do have Greggs, Starbucks and Costa that are a few minutes walk from the office, but not the same service. Couldn't get a reduced sandwich which is annoying as I don't think the cafe at tomorrow's craft fair is good for me. Gave Lucy 2 pouches before I left and she had pretty much eaten it all, do will keep doing that- might have to buy more food next week!
Evening all, craft fair a 2 min walk from my house today handy as I forgot my medication so was able to pop homw for it! They had a booking in the function room, so we were downstairs and the room set up wasn't great. One of crafter friends had her new 8 week old French bulldog puppy, so plenty of fusses. We did make table fee, but only because 2 of A's friends came and bought, most people didn't do well. Had a nice hot choc and came home with cake, the cafe has recently been taken over, seems more expensive than it was, though food looked nice. Packed up early, i was going to go shops but was raining as i walked out, so left it. Did a bit of housework when i got back, ratty neighbour tried talking to me, said i couldn't stop.
Handy the fair being close to home. It does strike me that being dumped in a less attractive room whilst something better paying is on elsewhere in the building is never good for any sort of fair :-(
Evening all, didn't sleep well and Lucy demanded I got up at 7.30. Felt quite tired and wanted to just relax and catch up on my games, so haven't done that much housework. Was dry when i got up with rain forecast for the afternoon, decided to peg some washing out, left it out when i went to shops, started raining as i left coop, so rushed home, brought the washing in, then went to Sainsbury's, ratty neighbour was asking if i go to Lidl, so she must have been hinting at either a lift or me picking stuff up, told her i couldn't stop as it was raining and hadn't finished errands! Set up new router this afternoon, luckily most of old wires worked, have got most things set up, but can't get smart bulbs to connect, so having to use them the old fashioned way! Had a nice bath and then tried my new leopard effect top coat, couldn't decide what colour to put it over, chose 5!
Carol wrote: "A storm is forecast so tottered round early on walk. Mizzling here as we say in Devon."I think that's a word you share with quite a few up the west size of the country. It sums up the situation so well :-)
Evening all, struggled to get to sleep but slept through. Was very wet and windy today. Morning started off OK, was shadowed by a new manager, who asked a lot of questions, then just before lunch, started with IT issue! Just after lunch was showing a friend from another team my new nails, mentioned the wear it green next week to find out its Wed! So redoing nails tomorrow! Afternoon was chaos, kept being interrupted while doing things so had lots of half completed things, then more IT issues meant i couldn't do certain things. Gave a colleague a lift home, we popped to Iceland to see if they have new coffee sachets, and then Sainsbury's for bargains
Evening all, Lucy woke me about 3am and struggled to get back to sleep. Day was wet and windy for most part, but better late afternoon and dry for me to pop to shops, though I did forget i needed milk and chicken! Have re done my nails and sent pics to our event organiser who has thanked me for my support and given me the heads up for wear it pink day next month! It's my most popular nail colour (and I'm currently wearing i shades of green!)
Evening all, wet and windy for most of day, i found more green than i expected for wear it green day, though not many in my team, so i avoided pics. Lots of compliments on my nails. Busy day at work. Nipped into m and s, managed to get a reduced sandwich for lunch tomorrow, had to pick up Lucy's meds (more compliments on nails), then remembered she needed chicken so went to yhe morrisons near the vets, got a few other bits. Forgot to say, our cygnets are old enough that they got tagged this week, all 3 are still there, not sure what the plan is with them.
Evening all, really bad night sleep. Had a rheumatology face to face appointment, it was with the physio though. Showed her my two sore finger joints, she wasn't overly concerned. We looked at my blood results history, while liver was high in Dec, it was back to normal in March, though up in August, maybe i drunk more those months! Had them repeated today, see what that shows. They did again suggest stopping my anti inflammatory, but surely if that was an issue, it wouldn't go down? Now on annual check ups unless i have an issue and need to speak to them. Went to shops after work and did well on bargains. Ratty neighbour has fractured two of her fingers, so i had to go round earlier and open some tins/jars for her. So weird seeing that in writing Alicia, don't think I've heard that said since the Queen died
I'm sorry you had bad sleep - I have that most nights, and it isn't easy to get over it every day, but I have done what I can, and don't spend any additional energy worrying about it.But you DON'T have it every night, and have to go to work after, and that makes it harder. Hope it gets better, or at least is more manageable. Some people can take a nap when they get home from work - others just can't.
At least they're monitoring your bloodwork for you. If anything changes, you'll have a solid baseline, too.
About the swans: I watched a nice documentary at one point, and, on my only trip to the UK, got to see the swans in their park (my brain is not pulling up the name, but it's in London), and the kids and I listened to a staff member tell us about them. You have such rich traditions!
Re: our rich traditions- I was surprised to find that the large black hats worn by the red-coated Guards are still made from the fur of Canadian black bears. Evidently synthetic material has been tried but it is not the same.
Evening all, struggled to get to sleep, then woke up at 5.30. Me and a colleague went to do a visit and i hot shown how to install some equipment I've never really seen before, it was interesting and she was a lovely lady. Luckily I was going to retail park after work as there had been an accident affecting the road i use to get home. Got my parcel from pets at home, and popped into some other shops for a few bits, got the coffee sachets i wanted to try. Lake didn't look as bad after the rain we've had this week. Chanel has been very brave, she had part of her supper off my hand last night (and licked my fingers), and has had biscuits breakfast and tea tonight off my hand, hope she does at supper. Tried with Coco, but a lot of growling!I can't nap after work unfortunately Alicia, if i try and nap after 2.30/3pm, I'm awake till early hours, and sometimes feel sluggish if i do nap. Jealous of people who can nap after work and still sleep
When I was first learning to nap, I had to set an alarm/timer for 35 min. Otherwise I'd sleep too deep, and not get over it. FWIW. That gave me 5 to settle down, and 30 to rest/sleep.Many people can't nap - I get it.
I find that since i have become older if I don't get the right amount of sleep in the night then I suddenly drop off to sleep in the day exactly like jetlag. I don't know it's going to happen.
Evening all, slept through till 2.30, then awake till 4.30, Lucy decided 8am was get up time! I had a facial and Indian head massage booked this morning, it was lovely, her facial includes neck, shoulder, arm and hand massage, she didn't do as much of my neck as she was avoiding getting oil in my hair. Was bouncing down when i left, i went the long way to the car to get stoodleys for me and C's husband, then drove to Aldi to get Lucy chicken, my fitness tracker flashed while driving, then had died by the time I got to Aldi (she didn't ask me to take it off, and I didn't think she'd go that far doing a facial- its still dead now!). Me and C had already had to change our plans due to weather forecast, we were going to go to cafe near my house for cheese and onion pie, but they were full, so wejtbyo a different cafe for cheese and onion pie, it was very nice. I forgot i needed milk, so we went coop, then called in candle shop cafe for pudding, not been for a while and she was very bored, so we had a little chat. Did a little bit of washing up when i got back, but mainly chilled, back is a bit twingy and I'm tired - didn't need a proper tea though, saving pudding for tomorrow as bought crumble and don't have any custard. Have also bought a new tracker that will arrive tomorrow, could hsve had same model (v8) for £31.99, or v10 for £39.99, so decided to upgrade, hope i like it! I literally bought my last one a year today. Been so wet and windy this evening.
Sunshine here today so am hoping the rain will stay away as tree cutters are returning to my small garden.
Evening all, Coco had some biscuits off my hand last night! Slept through till 2ish, then got back to sleep till 7.30. Must have been a bit late for Lucy, she was sick after her medication. My new fitness tracker came at 8.30, didn't take too long to set up and is very similar to the last one. Have been a bit half hearted with housework, but done something in every room. Popped to shops, got some bargains. Been helping A pick Christmas scents this afternoon, new autumn scents went live yesterday, 2 sales already!
Carol wrote: "I find that since i have become older if I don't get the right amount of sleep in the night then I suddenly drop off to sleep in the day exactly like jetlag. I don't know it's going to happen."Me, too.
But getting that nighttime sleep total up past 7 hours is a battle every night. And no guarantee. But if I don't keep trying, I know that day is a total loss for using my brain.
Evening all, slept through till 4.30 when Lucy woke me up being sick, apparently got 6.5 hours sleep. Nice autumnal day, warm in the sun, but cool out of it. Not a bad morning, then was installing new equipment with a colleague, took longer than expected especially as i had an issue with the first one i didn't know how to handle so we had to go back! On the plus side, it was hometime when we finished, and i needed petrol, so popped in Morrisons to see if anything for tea/lunch (no, but Lucy got new treats!), nothing other than reduced bread in other shops. Downside is too late to redo my nails, will have to do them tomorrow.
Beautifully sunny here today but unfortunately a reminder that autumn is now here and this sunshine is a last fling.
Evening all, apparently got 7.5 hours sleep but don't feel it, though only 22% deep sleep and not for any decent amount of time. Was 4 degrees when i got in the car, even though it was sunny. Roadworks didnt cause too much of an issue. Frustrating probation review but a nice social lunch, got someone else to join with word games. Managed to get a reduced sandwich for tomorrow's lunch, the ring pull on today's tin of soup broke, luckily i had an emergency tin in my locker, going to try and remember to replace that!

Might as well get some entertainment value out of it!
Watched President Macron on a live stream from the French Consulate in New York yesterday announcing 30 Lafayette Fellowships to be given to American students every year. Was delighted that Lafayette's name should be given to the awards. Spent 9 years writing and researching my book 'I, Lafayette' and still find him as wonderful and fascinating as I did when I started it.

Evening all, rubbish night sleep, less than 6 hours. Just learnt the new tracker can do REM sleep, that'll be interesting. Not a bad day at work, had word game lunch with a few people. Actually got round to booking my dentist appointment. As there are roadworks, i figured I'd try the new cheap shop again, not as good as last time, but Lucy likes the new treats. Then went to Sainsbury's, bumped into Malachi and his owner, had a nice chat with them, not seen them for ages.
Not a good night's sleep here either, Desley. I have been busy with things at home so didn't manage to have a walk yesterday and always think that contributes to not sleeping so well. A beautiful day here but the sea was surprisingly choppy this morning and had stirred up sand which was making the water a pale brown near the shore.
Evening all, slept better, and WFH today so able to stay in bed an extra 30 mins. Very sinusy today though. Morning wasn't too bad, but then kept getting disturbed this afternoon. Went to shops after work, no bargains, then bumped into ratty neighbour putting her paper bin out, she mentioned it was only half full so asked if i could put some stuff in it, she did take advantage to have a chat, i really needed to do some chores though, and still forgot to take some rubbish out of the car ready for people coming in it the next couple of days!
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "...Just learnt the new tracker can do REM sleep..."Mine isn't working very well - I think it needs a tighter wristband.
It says I get practically no sleep, no DEEP sleep, and almost no REM sleep. I can't be THAT bad, so it's not getting my peculiar sleep patterns (likely) or I just need a tighter connection between it and my arm.
Evening all, didn't sleep great, was awake for 40 mins around 4am, this tracker picked it up, last one didn't always, very sinusy again. Was a funny day at work, we had online training 11-12, then a face to face meeting at our office a 30 min drive away at 1! And it took me 40 mins. Meeting ended on a sad note, the manager who is off sick isn't coming back, had to give a colleague a massive hug after that news. Only had an hour after we got back and didn't feel like i got much done. Some of us went out for tea after that, a place I've not been to eat since before covid, was nice. Then rang my sis to organise plans for tomorrow and couldn't get her off the phone, over 1.5 hours!
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: " Then rang my sis to organise plans for tomorrow and couldn't get her off the phone, over 1.5 hours! ..."I love my four younger sisters and all my worldwide scattered friends, but I really can't take the long phone calls! Most of them are able-bodied - and we usually haven't talked in a while - but they aren't very good at catching when I'm exhausted and start slurring my words and not being able to keep eye contact.
Too much to catch up on, I suppose.
Hello everyone. Stupid notifications thing has stopped working so I keep forgetting to come here off my own bat. Glad everyone is keeping on keeping on. 🙂
Evening all, Lucy woke me up around 2am. Luckily woke up around 7.30, as ratty neighbour rang about 9am asking if she could use my washing line (that wasn't mine, was other neighbours!), then after saying she needed to go, proceeded to chat fpr 30 mins! Had a lazy start, then was taking sis, friend and kids out, we went for a carvery and came back with cake, then went over to the ice cream place nearby that has Jersey cows, gutted it wasn't warm enough to try the blackcurrant and liquorice ice cream but did have biscoff latte, with cream and biscoff crumbs, was really nice. Dropped her friend off and wasn't far from company shop, so popped there, did quite well. Then decided to see if i could get more of the limited edition coffee sachets, none to be seen but found other new ones, then got Lucy more treats from b and m, including a couple of new things i didn't see last time. Haven't needed tea, had a little nibble on my cake, and think i can manage a bag of crisps!Nice to see you MT, saw a blog post pop up earlier
Not a good night's sleep- I think it must be catching! Up late so running around trying to do usual morning things such as walk and lunch before son's Skype (now Teams) call from the US.
Evening all, woke up at 1.30, but seemed to sleep through then till 7.30, didn't want to get up but could hear Lucy downstairs using the scratch post, and she's much easier to medicate when sleepy. Lovely sunny day, which was good as i spilt tea on myself and the blanket this morning so had an extra wash load and ratty neighbour tried using my line, i told her any day except Sun! Then realised I had no eggs for breakfast so had to go out earlier than planned, and had to do both shops as i forgot to get eggs in coop, had to ask in Sainsbury's where they are kept as have never bought from there! Struggled to find motivation to do housework so haven't done as much as i could. Tried my new magnetic nail varnishes, nice colours but couldn't get the magnet to work well, might need to practice more. Couldn't manage all my cake either (was triple layer!)
Evening all, Lucy woke me up a couple of times, first time she just jumped on the bed, screamed, walked over me, then went! She was sick twice this morning and initially not interested in food, but got her to eat something before I left for work and she's been fine since. Rubbish day at work, had nice word game lunch, then went for my second attempt at Equality and Diversity training to find there was no course on! Giving up on that now, but makes me wonder if thats why no one turned up for my first course! Nipped to Lidl to use a couple of vouchers, then Sainsbury's and got a couple of bargains.
M.T. wrote: "Hello everyone. Stupid notifications thing has stopped working so I keep forgetting to come here off my own bat. Glad everyone is keeping on keeping on. 🙂"nice blog post
Evening all, woke up at 5.30 but was WFH so able to change to 7am alarm. Was doing visits this morning and the second had a really friendly chihuahua who sat on my knee for part of it! Nice bright day, the heat coming through the car window meant i could take my coat off.
They have finally scheduled the heat exchanger installation we've been promised for three years, and several Facilities Managers - for next Monday, which will be hot (but possibly not until later in the afternoon. In exchange, I've told them to tell us if they need a circuit breaker left open, and that we'll leave the door unlocked*, and they should just come in and get started - we'll get up eventually, but they don't need us for anything else.
Cross fingers. We got up over 100+°F for weeks this summer, and it would be nice to not have to worry. Ours is probably 25 years old, which is a long time for mechanical equipment, and it has leaked coolant for the past three summers.
Hardly dare hope any more. I am extremely heat-intolerant.
*4th floor apartment in a building with 24 hour front desk control, so we're perfectly safe
Evening all, tracker said 7.59 hours sleep, which is a rarity. I got up about 4.30, set the 6.45 alarm and Lucy woke me at 6.40. Popped to do a visit this morning but they weren't in, and had a weird experience at a petrol station I never use, kept clicking like it was full, but i only had 1/8 of a tank, so only put £10 in. Managed a couple of chores, went to shops but not much bargains, so got a potato fritter from chippy, which pleased Lucy.
