Tammie | 4553 comments sounds perfect...I hope the book's good!
I'm reading a so-so romance...pretty cheezy actually

Tammie | 4553 comments I did some SS checking yesterday...if you see a bright blue highlight in one of your posts, please check your book.

Highlighted in mod check means it's not on your shelf yet
Highlighted in the page count means I revised the page count to what you posted...you might check to be sure what you posted on your shelf...please correct the link or the page count as appropriate.

Please feel free to remove the highlight if you've made the correction or just message here.

thanks

I hope everyone is enjoying your current books!
We've hit the halfway mark...just under 1 week left!
We're at par with where we've been reading on points and that's great considering UKULELE! Right! Something to celebrate for sure!

After last round when I had a couple books that I ended up not reading for that round, you said I had too many on my shelf. So I have just been adding them to the Wheels shelf as I finish them for this round.

Fixed my one page count error. How on earth did I get 320 when it was 398? lol Tired, maybe?

MN Lisa (lisa713mn) | 760 comments I miss judged how much I could get done. I had to take out one of my books.

I moved M's Lost Boy: The True Story of Captain Hook to Line 22 on the Spreadsheet to replace the L I won't get to.

Thank you! I thought I accidently deleted it.

Tammie | 4553 comments Thanks M and Lisa for checking in...we're at just under 5 days left.

Because this word is so tight...we don't have a lot of moving around options. Please take a look like Lisa has and assess to be sure whatever you have on the WSS you can finish. We can always add.

Reminder we can only leave 1 word left unfinished...I'll work on moving things around in a couple of days if needed...for now though...let's continue to motor on...we're looking pretty good so far :)

Tammie | 4553 comments Some SS Maintenance...

@Jax
Please check Tales from Earthsea....linked is 417 pgs...your shelf 280pgs. Please correct which ever...you can remove the highlight once done.

@Lisa...one missing from shelf...I think there's at least 1 not on our SS that's on your shelf as well.

message 260: by M (new)

M Beal | 1680 comments I have added the last few books I can finish by the time the round ends. This was a fun, but if I ever get the work Ukulele again I will scream.

message 261: by Cindy (new)

Cindy | 152 comments I'm still working on my book with an instrument on the cover and I should be done with it in the next couple days and I might be able to finish 1-2 other books as well

message 262: by Natasha (new)

Natasha | 1140 comments Finished a book that works for L and will finish a book today that works for L as well.

message 263: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments @Jax
Tales from Earthsea is on the ss and linked as 296p but your shelf shows 280p version. Please correct whichever and remove the highlight once done :)

Thanks!

I double checked the rules and for this round it can be any instrument as long as it is on the cover. I finished the book
The Lark and the Wren
she is playing a fiddle on the cover. I will add it on the spread sheet

Tammie | 4553 comments description

It's time to explore the many varied musical forms from around the world.

Find these musical genres in your books! You need to find the exact word (see below and yodelling caveat), and you need to find ten different genres.

Each genre you find in the text will earn an additional 5 bonus points. Only one bonus word per book and a maximum of 10 bonus words.

Genres(view spoiler)

Note: you must find the words exactly (so you can't find "electronic" - it has to have the -a ending), but if you find an exact match that isn't talking about the music genre (e.g. "he was a spiritual person" you can still claim it). And yes, we mean you can't use plurals, possessives or verb ending changes (bad luck if you find "he yodels" but no yodelling!)

Ok Team Classical...Round 4 is here!

For this round the mods have gone full circle with rules...we're back to strict with this one so please, if in doubt, ask in our thread :)
As we did in our previous Rounds, let's get our Bonus tasks done 1st.
As stated in the mod’s message we cannot duplicate…we’ll make a cross out on our SS to keep track of what’s been claimed..
Please do share potentials with the team as you come across ideas.

Our word: DIDGERIDOO ...we're U-less...anyone happy about this?
Our color for this Round is the lovely shade of green...we'll need 5 books.
🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼

Our WSS is ready :)

message 273: by M (new)

M Beal | 1680 comments I have filled in all the books I can cover for the next round. Can you tell I am going on vacation, well a staycation (LOL). I only have one that fits a color cover and I will search for musical genres in the books I have. If I have time I will read more.

Tammie | 4553 comments MN Lisa wrote: "Ugh. Looks like 3 Ds and 2 Is and Os per word. We got this!"

Hopefully Ds and Os won't be as bad...fingers crossed they just so happen to help us with our genres too...bring it on. I'm travelling tomorrow...my search will have to wait until this weekend...good news is 7 hrs in the car tomorrow...I'll get at least 1 book done and maybe another :)

So I am reading a book and it has "white folk" in it - that works for FOLK?

message 277: by MN Lisa (new)

MN Lisa (lisa713mn) | 760 comments That is what it sounds like, since it's "white folk" and not "white folks".

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3792 comments I can do these words, unless someone else wants to claim:

Violin Conspiracy
Bluegrass - pg 128

Mocha She Wrote
Polka - "Polka-dot socks"

Bake, Borrow, and Steal
Salsa - "salsa music"

** the last 2 I have on audiobook so I don't have page numbers, and I'm going with the google preview, but it doesn't have the page number for some reason. Is this enough?

@Vicki and @Elli...DQs do not have to be answered by tomorrow...you can finish them anytime within 1 month from the start and we'll get the points.

The book is really pretty good if any of you like an interesting mystery/suspense...genres family, race and contemporary.

Could you remove the Queen Ann book from your shelf...it appears it did not work for anything for this week :)

Thanks

Tammie | 4553 comments Nice job on getting our bonus words claimed!!

A couple of things I see...
Rebecca...I'm pretty sure polka-dot won't work...hyphenated...I'm checking

Vicki...I see you've got 'spiritual' and 'folk' on there twice... diff books...unfortunately for this round, we're not allowed to repeat...of course you can read all...we just can only use the bonus once...so pick whichever.

We're hanging in there :)
For those who are interested here's the status report.

There's about 40 minutes before Round 4 starts...I've checked us in...so please hold of finishing anything for at least an hour :)

Yeah...books cannot be banked so it's an illegal book...unfortunately it's gotta go Vicki...as long as the countdown is still moving...the round is in progress.
Remember I've got our team timer 3 hours before the official timer...so there's 3 hours from noon to 3pm central that we shouldn't finish books. I apologize if this contributed to the confusion.

Just one more time for clarification: if the SS countdown timer says we have one hour left in the round, then I cannot finish and post a book in the following round for 4 hours from that one hour left that round? Is that accurately stated?

message 300: by Tammie (last edited Nov 18, 2023 03:41PM) (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments Our working SS time is set 34 hours prior to the official SS. I usually post here in our thread with information on when I'll be doing our last post to the main...see post 258 for an example.

Our 'main' ss has the official timer if you want to refer to that as well.
